Looks pretty good for the price. 5" 1080p AMOLED screen and 13MP f1.8 Camera are probably the highlights. Apart from the design which personally I think looks amazing. Also it has "Hugely Power Enormously Efficiency" according to the website, and who doesn't want that?
No 4G will suit Optus 3G.

Specs:
Mediatek 8-core A7 2.0Ghz
1080p Super AMOLED 5.0" Display
2GB Ram
16GB Rom + MicroSD
13MP f1.8 Camera + Lens
Gorilla Glass Front and Back with aluminium chassis
2780mAh battery

Bands:
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900
3G: WCDMA 900/2100

This looks really nice on paper. I hope chinese manufacturers manage to overcome the stigma associated with their products.

    • The stigma is largely justified in the case of unknown brands, and is added to by the fact that warranty issues are a PITA.

  • Pretty good price. Don't get too excited though. This uses last year's AMOLED tech as far as I know. Probably the exact same display as Galaxy S4. What this means is quite dim and oversaturated. Also it's a pentile matrix, so not really real '1080p'. Chipset is mid-range at best, Android doesn't use 8 cores and the GPU is pretty poor. Design is nice, I've heard the back is actually polished plastic, might be glass. Image processing is probably bad, so don't expect 13MP images up to flagship standards. But honestly for this cheap, no one can complain.

  • Very limited case options for these lesser know brands. May not be an issue for those who don't use a case, or screen protectors. Certainly the price feature ratio ticks all the boxes.

    "Hugely Power Enormously Efficiency"

Can only wish my LG G2 came with this, I paid twice the price.

    • LG g2 has a battery capacity superior to this phone. Also chinese manufacturers tend to lie about battery capacities — I wouldn't be surprised if this 2700mah battery is only 2000mah.

Umi Zero 8 special at another seller for AUD 210.19: http://www.antelife.com/umi-zero-mtk6592t-otca-core-2-0ghz-5…

    • Story of my life- 2 minutes late.

    • It's got an Otca core though, from what I've learnt octa core is superior. Better price though, can't complain. Then again on Bargaingood the phone is a "not open to objection, but not particularly new or exciting" combination of practical and fashionable smartphone.

I'd love to hear how this phone (or others like it) actually go for people, because I know that for my $ I'd get a Moto G over this. Sure, the specs wouldn't be as good, but I would know I'd get updates and I think that alone has a lot of value. When prices start drifting up past $200 the idea of a relatively unknown brand makes me squirm.

There is quite a lengthy and ongoing discussion here:

      http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/umi-zero-fla…

One report says GPS is rubbish but may be fixed in time.

      • Already a deal breaker

    • I would buy a Xiaomi Note. The specs aren't as high end but it supports 4G LTE and the battery is larger, at $200 AUD price tag. Xiaomi has better quality control too — not that I've owned one, but my experiences with no-name chinese phones (e.g THL) is that some phones ship with defects.

At least Xiaomi that has an international presence (i.e. sold in Hong Kong, Singapore, India etc).

  • Antelife appear to have it for $210.19 delivered, unless there is a catch I am missing.

    http://www.antelife.com/umi-zero-mtk6592t-otca-core-2-0ghz-5…

  • Anyone had any experience with Antelife? It's AU$223.84 including DHL Express shipping from there as others have stated.

    • There seems to be 9 official stores UMI has approved to sell them. Antelife is one of them as is Banggood,Tinydeal and focalprice

  • Been looking at this phone for a while myself. One who knows about chinese phones told me UMI tends to make phones with good builds - even better than THL who arent too shabby. But UMI is a bit more expensive - tend not to see too many of their phones on sale. But this seems a good one. Some sites still have this for pre sale for Nov 25th…

    • Officially it's meant to be $199.99 on presale everywhere not including free delivery at some places.
Umi Official quote "UMI ZERO will be released on 25th of November.2014
      In ONLY 199.99USD/ 159.99EUR!!!
Now available on 9 online stores!!!"
So officially this post about Banggood is not really a bargain at all.

Ondra Kunc where can i buy that for 199USD? Thanks

UmiOfficial Dear visit here and pick your favor shop http://www.umidigi.com/About/SpecialOfferActivitives/

Tinydeal also have this for sale for 254.67AU$ delivered.
      http://en.comebuy.com/ have it for $240.61AU

      • I saw that $199 price as well.

        http://www.sunsky-online.com/view/383711/UMI%20ZERO%205.0%20… $199 USD

        No free shipping though

Everyone else i checked selling at around $220USD+

Sunsky works out to be roughly the same price. 228.21 AUD + 12.00 shipping

        • $240.61 is a lot cheaper than $262.49 and all websites have basically a cheaper price than this, so it can't be considered a deal when it's higher than any other place you can buy it from…
