  • Good reliable brand if I didn't have a good smartphone already I would want this dam it

  • Is there an advantage of this Xiomi over say the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra for $220?

    http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_t2_ultra-5965.php

    • Where can you get the t2 ultra?

  • +2

this is one sexy phone, the downside: android kitkat crap with no access to external sd card

I've been looking for reliable source to root it so I can put sd card fix app in it :(

    • Have you tried Nexus Media Importer? I had to use that on my Nexus…

    • +1

You don't root it. You use the developer version of the rom which includes official root.

Edit: seems they haven't provided an official option with this model.

  • Anyone know if Xiaomi update their phone software? I only ask because I bought a Huawei Ascend Mate last year and its stuck on Jelly Bean :/

    • +1

Don't upgrade! jelly bean has no sd card restriction, I will downgrade kitkat back to jelly bean if I could. all my music on sd card become useless/cant be read by any music player app

      • +1

Root + Xposed Framework should work, yeah? http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/kitkat-sd-car…

      • i have the moto G with sd card (android 4.4 i think), while few app like Udemy or podcast dont use sd, the majority are still able to be moved to sd and use the sd space to save files.

the music is on my sd card and work with google play, didn't try other player to be honest.

what is annoying it's I can no longer chose freely to save in standard directory, and if an app in uninstalled i guess there is risk to lose the linked data created by it.

      • wait.. what??? i didnt know this so any phone that using 4.4.x kitkat, cant play mp3/mp4 on the external microsd card (playerpro or mxplayer)? unless you root?

        • +4

Not true. My kit kat moto g is fine

        • @tomkun01: same for mine, udemy is the only prob, cannot move to sd and keep all the offline material on phone storage

        • @tomkun01:

yup same, my S5 is fine

      • +2

The restrictions for kit Kat is that you cannot write to the SD external card but you can only read from my understanding..

        • on my motoG apps can only write on their own directory,
          if the app can be moved to SD, it will write on the sd if not data will be on phone storage;
before apps where able to write everywhere.

the native motorola cam allows to save on sd or storage

  • Which version should I get (option on the site)?

    • English?

  • Would be nice if they sold dual sim one.

    • So is this dual sim or not? The desacription here says so but the website says single sim

      • I copy and pasted descrition from the older deal (it's wrong), unfortunately it does seem to be single sim only.

    • IMO, the dual-sim 3G version is a bit more superior.

      Octa-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A7 > Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A7
      Mali-450MP4 > Adreno 305
Dual Sim (incredibly useful for ozbargainers living on 2 SIM plans)
      3200 mAh > 3100 mAh

  • This is one fine phone. Only few weeks ago I bought from to2c.com for US $199 and I thought it was a good price already. Should I wait a bit longer :(

    • How was your dealing with to2c.com ? Are you reliable ? Did you get the real Xiaomi phone you ordered ? I bought a RedMi phone online and I got a bad copy.

  • I bought a cheap mobile phone similar size, it may interest ozbargainers with price tag of $77.
It says 2 left but they may list again… This is the third listing, sold out twice.
It is unknown brand and it may turn a junk!!!
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5-5-Inch-HD-720p-IPS-Screen-Octa-…

    • +1

It is unknown brand and it may turn a junk!!!

That may happen if it is not already a junk.

BTW, here is a pearl from the ebay link…

      Imte is 1-year warranty

    • +2

Was thinking it might be a scam. Cause the MT6592 and 720P screen is very very unlikely to be this price, maybe a qHD screen… but not 720P.
      This seems more normal: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/5-5-Inch-E-Ceros-One…

      • There's a major red flag asides from the price tag — the eBay seller feedback is set to private.

Private feedback means you have something to hide.

        • I don't where you clicked but I could see all his feedback for the past 12 months, and he has a 100% rating

        • +8

Well, not private feedback, but private listings..

There are some major warning signs that this could be a hijacked account.

I noted his account has seen a lot of activity in the past 30 days. If you look at the feedback, 26 out of his 46 transactions were made in the past 30 days. The account has been active since Aug 2012. And all of a sudden, since last month, this account was used to sell a whole bunch of stuff.

We have no idea of what he usually sells since the information is hidden. Could be a bunch of cheap clothing and such, as a few of the feedbacks mentions a hat and a snapback, and one knockoff item. This activity closely resembles to that of feedback farming, whereby the seller sells a bunch of low priced stuff for real cheap in order to boost his positive feedback. So you can't trust the 100% rating.

He has made no purchases with that account (zero feedback as a buyer). He also had a fairly large quantity of smartphones to sell.
Again, this is a strong indication that this account is a throwaway and possibly was made for the sole purpose of scamming people.

        • @scrimshaw:

Am i the only one who can see what he's sold. It's all a bunch of sports Caps. No actual feedback on the supposed 10 phones he has sold. Looks dodgy

        • @scrimshaw: good tips, will keep in mind to check this points in future on ebay, thanks.

        • @gimme: crazy part when you find out Sabric is the seller and has had us all from the start

        • @zeckem:
Well. It was a gamble with all above comments.
          And I lost it.
I haven't received the item. I have to work on how to refund the money.

        • @Sabric: thanks for the update. was joking by the way

        • Played with fire and got burnt?

          Is paypal of any help?

    • if you will get whats in the photos "e-ceros one" model, not a bad deal!
I saw couple of video of it in youtube it looks good for what you paid. thinking to get one to play around

    • Can you get an app to pull all the specs from your own device so that we can confirm it's the real deal?

    • Looks about right, if you check tinydeal, chinavision, geekbuying that's about the price you pay for a phone of that spec but not usually 720p. I was going to get one, but only dual band 3G (850/2100) isn't good for me on an Optus reseller. I ended up with a landvo quad band for a couple bucks more. Had enough of bad experiences with sony phones dying at the drop of a hat :(

    • Sent the seller the message below. Didn't received a reply. Instead, he increased the price from $51.99 to $58.99. He had a 2TB USB3.0 enclosure listing for half retail price too and now is listing some Android notebook at a ridiculously cheap price too.

I'm pretty sure this is a scam to secure a short-term interest free loan. Wonder if anybody has reported him yet?

Do you have a photo of this item to prove this is real? I need a phone and cannot afford to be scammed for a short term personal loan.

A photo will prove this item exists and I'll get it for XMAS.

Otherwise, the price seems very low and ppl are believing this is a scam at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/169952#comment-2369487 . Thanks

      • +1

He is now listing a Atom-based Windows 8 MeeGo pad ($100 incl postage) but note the much higher retail price (around us$360 dollars)

Deal Extreme selling it for $380 and Aliexpress for 367.

To sell at $100 is very unrealistic. At first he had hats to sell, now all of a sudden he is now selling phones and tablets which smells extremely fishy. Usually when an ebay seller suddenly switches from selling low value items to high value ones this is usually a sign that he's about to grab the money and run.

  • I will send you the screen capture when I receive the phone. I have purchased only 3 days ago.
I thought it will save me hundreds while I am waiting Christmas deals…

  • Has anyone ever ordered from this shop? are they reliable?

So some videos about fake xiaomis being sold https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fake+xiaomi+red…

  • How is this compared to iPhone 5s very similar? I know iphone 6 would be out of its range, but should be like a 5 or 5s least, the. This is really a great price.

    • You can't really compare them… in different price range and sizes are very different as well… (It's got the same size as the 6 plus by the way)
Performance wise the 5s would have at least the standard of the Snapdragon 600 to 800.

    • Biggest downside is the 8GB ROM, makes it pretty unusable for the majority of things.

      • Get an sd card mate

        • sd card is useless, can't copy paste mp3 and worst - can't move apps to sd card

it's not the phone, it's kitkat (android 4.4) restriction.

Samsung phone still can do this - but google has stop activating the google play and gapps

if you have phone with kitkat, you will understand how it feels :\

        • @medium_tight:

I do and it works perfectly my friend. Just root

        • +1

@medium_tight: there is a discussion above in this thread, but motoG with kitkat let move mp3 around and read from sd card; most of the apps can be moved to SD too and they'll create data there.

what you cannot do anymore is having an app saving on different place than the directory of the app

  • Phone newbie here, I don't really understand the technical details..but can anyone tell me how this compares to a samsung Note 2? Assuming I take lots of low light pictures and like a nice screen display similar to iPhones retina display? Thanks!

  • I assume these will never get Lollipop?

    • No way to tell.

  • So this costs about the same price as getting a Galaxy S5 screen, I have a brand new S5 with a broken screen… Should I get this or just fix the S5? Haha >.<

  • Not the Note I was looking for. Let me know when there's a deal for the (Samsung Galaxy) Note 3, which has multi window to fully utilise that massive screen.

    • And be prepared to pay 300 bux more.

      • Yes…

but the Galaxy Note is more of a productivity tool, while this is just a phone with a big screen and is also called Note. Coincidence?

      • Yeah I've tried that on my Nexus 4, and the very few other alternatives. They are very clunky, and simply unusable.

I was hoping that Google would implement some Multi Window like Samsung and LG… but nope :(

Neither 小米 nor sam, appeared to have the balls to be offensive toward the large carriers, while i'm shifting sights now to smaller brands…
•Dual sim dual standby Single SIM:(
      Such wowsers.

  • Chatted with their support. Apparently there is a one year warranty, but you would have to bear the cost of shipping back to China in case you receive a broken device or it breaks down during warranty. Shipping would be around 100 dollars in Australia post so not worth it imo.

    • +1

Also remember that your can't post items that contain lithium batteries outbound to overseas by air because of the Austpost restrictions. So you can't send it back even if you wanted to. Warranty = no warranty.

      • You can still use Pack and Send — though expect to pay something like $53 dollars. Other couriers like UPS will also be willing to carry lithium powered devices too.
        http://www.packsend.com.au/

        • Is it worth the risk though? You might be getting a faulty/broken in transport/fake device. Plus no warranty risk.

  • Is To2c.com a reliable online store ? One that doesn't send you a fake copy like I had with Dino Direct.
Please pass on your comments so we all can benefit fro your experience.

Down to USD 167.99 still with free shipping by Singapore Post.

  • Hi Guys,

Sorry for bringing up an old post but I have just received my two phone from To2c and I fear I might have got a fake one.

I'm not very experience with it so I'm hoping my fellow ozbargainer can help me out a little. The first thing I did was ran CPU-Z and I noticed that the chipset is actually MSM8226 <b>not</b> MSM8928 as advertised.

I've uploaded a screenshot from the phone, any help of identifying the product would be greatly appreciated.

    http://www.mediafire.com/view/b3qtgo2mn7h6z1q/Screenshot_201…
    http://www.mediafire.com/view/b3qtgo2mn7h6z1q/Screenshot_201…

    Thank you

    • Easy way to tell if it's fake is measure the screen size a real one is 5.5inch but yours (according to screenshot) is 9.17 inch :O I would suggest trying a different spec detecting app just in case it is reading the information wrong.

Tip: to bold text, put double asterisks in place of <b> tags. When you write a comment, at the bottom of the comment box there is a 'Formatting Help' link.

      • Thanks for the tip mate..appreciated.

        Also,
Screen size is definitely 5.5inch and I was able to re-flash the Official rom so I guess all is good..phew had me worry there for a sec..

        Thanks for the help.
