Love my Steel, just be prepared to wait. I'm hoping they've sorted their supply out a little since I bought mine, but I think from ordering to delivery was around 7 weeks.

    • +1

How much did you get it for? And when?

      • I am not Hinee, but i bought my steel for US$220 3 months ago. Took 2 weeks to arrive then.
Its a really good watch, completely no regrets despite to massive price drop.

  • I bought one from DSE on the weekend. Was $129. Works out to about the same with express shipping.

    • wait how did you get it for 129? :|

      • +2

Pretty sure this is for the standard Pebble.. and not the Steel

    • I got my Pebble for $79 from DSE during the recent special. I love the thing.

  • +1

Great little watches. Basically using mine as a Bluetooth music remote for my phone. Also tells me the time :)

    • +3

I go one step further and use my Pebble to control the music playback on my home theatre: Pebble->Phone->Chromecast->TV->Receiver.

You can do the same with a just Bluetooth dock / speaker.

      • Hi, how do you get your pebble to control your chromecast? Musicboss?

        • As I said, the Pebble controls the music playback app on the phone (you can select which one through the Pebble app config - I use GPMAA). It works through the phone to Chromecast integration just as if you were controlling the phone manually.

  • There's also this shipping option:

    FedEx (3 business days): $12

Looking it on a phone so not sure it's US only shipping

    • +1

      Only to a US Address.

  • Are they internally the same? Just the casing that differs? Been eyeing them during DSE deals.

    • +1

from what i can see the screen is same however battery is less powerful. it does come with more internal storage. this site little outdated. http://smartwatches.findthebest.com/compare/1-20/Pebble-Pebb…

    • +1

The Steel has a glass screen instead of plastic, better build quality and I remember reading that it has more internal storage, but it is currently locked and will be unlocked in a future firmware update.

  • Around $18 AUD cheaper compared to DSE's price (after the $20 XMAS code).

  • +3

The steel comes with a leather band, so remember to order the steel band.

    • Have they changed that now? I ordered the steel from pebble months ago when they were first announced and it came with both the steel and leather bands. At the time that was standard. Also, it arrived within 2 weeks, and that was with the free shipping.

    • Mine came with a steel band included.
So I now have 2 steel bands ;p

Edit: Probably should say I got mine 2 weeks ago as a gift.

So I see it can use Runkeeper. Do I have to have my mobile with me as well for it to work though or will it track the activity by itself?

    • +2

The pebble would need GPS to achieve this.

      • OK, I'm hoping I'm not down-voted for this but honest question…Pebble doesn't have built in GPS then right? So if I got it for jogging I'd be carrying it with my phone at the same time?

    • My advice: buy a cheap fitness band if you want to track exercise. Pebble is not really for this as all it is really is a remote control for your phone

      • Wrong. Pebble has full fitness tracking support now. Only problem only the iOS misfit app syncs to it. No worries but, you can track 7 days worth directly on the watch.

        • Wow really? Was that released in the 2.0 firmware update?

        • @tomkun01:
Not sure when it was added as I'm a new owner. But it's there.

The Pebble is a great little sports watch.

I use it when I run, cycle, gym, bootcamp and swim.

If you carry your phone with you anyhow for everything but swimming it offers all the functions of the fancy sports watches plus more.

It pops up any notifications that the phone has this means:
      * SMS messages
      * Facebook Notification
      * Map directions

Think of it as an extended display for your phone with the ability to do some simple controls with the buttons and you have the idea. It is easy to read in daylight and get's your attention by a subtle vibration. It's lightweight and has a pretty good battery life; 3-5 days heavy-light usage.

To get the best out of it as a sports watch I use iSmoothRun, I was very disappointed in it with Runkeeper, but iSmoothRun is the killer app for sports use, best $5 I've ever spent. For swimming swim.com uses the accelerometer to do it's calculations disconnected from the phone and uploads when you are done. Teamed up with a Wahoo Blue Heart Rate monitor you have a very comprehensive sports watch for very little money.

The steel is a good price but the normal Pebble not cheap compared to the recent $79 deal From DSE

    • +1

That was only for red though.

      • +1

        Fascia stickers $5 eBay.
Also don't forget the 20% eBay this Sunday.
        Pebble steel wil be $179
        Pebble will be $101.
Both based on Dick not pulling a swifty.

      • I exchanged my $79 red for a black once they put the price back up to the same as black. Muhahahah.

      • The red actually looks pretty good in real life

        • Agreed, I tried wearing a cutout that I printed and it looks no where near as good. Mind you I didn't calibrate my printer first.

    • +1

      You trolling?

    • Right…

      • Apple Watch will be $300ish

Pebble Steel or Apple Watch? I'm confused

DSE only sell the Plastic Pebble and Black Steel Pebble and not the Stainless Steel Colour Steel Pebble

        • +1

Actually $349 USD + tax for the cheapest haha.

        • Can pretty safely assume the cheapest it'll start at will be AU$449 for the basic model.

  • is the pebble battery replaceable?

    • No.

      • hm…so after 7yrs,the battery only last for 1 day?

        • +1

Do you use a cellphone of 7 years? This Pebble I think use it 3 years , max.

    • Actually, the battery is replaceable, if your willing to open the watch up and de-solder the battery from the board.
Probably not as easy and a normal watch, but it is physically possible, provided you can source a replacement battery ;p

  • Stop it! You're making me want one! :)

  • hmmm tempted

  • +1

    I prefer this instead: (https://moto360.motorola.com)

    • +1

The only thing it does that the Pebble can't is voice. That and the battery life is terrible with Android Wear.

      • It's also huge, expensive and build quality is noticeably not like the promo pics.

  • Bought this today, came to $96 AUD

  • +1

My steel has been sent already

    • did it come with a tracking number?

      • Yep

It may make up to 24 hours for tracking information to appear on the DHL website for Pebblers that paid for express shipping. It may take 3-7 business days for tracking information to appear on the SingPost website for Pebblers that opted for free shipping.

  • Are there any must have apps/faces for Pebble?

    • If you're on Android, Notification Center.

    • This is probably going to be my first install.
