  • How's is this phone for Skype?

  • Tempted big time to get this phone but turned off after Reading this review http://m.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_510-reviews-6608.php

    • Try find a phone same price with better specs

      • +1

        Huawei g526

        • +1

The g526 only has 4GB Compared to 8GB And can only hold 32GB Compared to 128GB, Bluetooth is only 3.0 on g526, 4.0 on 510, Video on G526 is only 720, 510 is 1080, the G526 Runs on jellybean, the 510 runs on kitkat, the battery on the g526 is 1950MAh, the 510 is 2100MAh

        • @TRENT86: but why cherry pick your information? You don't mention the g526 has been purchase for as low as 80 bucks and has a higher resolution IPS screen (could not see if this was IPS in the specs. I would take that over this any day of the week. Apart from that most people wouldn't know the difference between many of the features eg. BT 3.0 or 4. The price and screen are the 2 biggest features. You'd be amazed at how many websites are built to 960 pixels, and how few for 854.

However, this is a good deal for this phone I admit, not negging, but it's a big call. It would be equally as bad to say the 510 is better than the 526 because it lags behind on screen and price, they are comparable phones afaiac

        • @Jackson: I have never seen the g526 Aus stock for $80 before but I could be wrong :) things like 720 video recording over 1080 and kit kat over jelly bean though are things I would want.

        • @TRENT86: yeah the video made me think (I use an m7) but on a budget phone people aren't really putting in 128mb cards, and software can usually be upgraded (although I haven't investigated the option for the 526). When people say specs I am usually only thinking if hardware. I think the 526 is 'good enough' in all areas to make it my ultimate budget phone of the last year. They were 80 bucks at Target for a short while from memory before they went back up to 95 or so, it was posted here somewhere. They've been a bugger to find at that price though, each time they've sold out quite fast. Ebay has them at 135 delivered

        • @Jackson: Yeah I do agree with you on some points, but is that $80 unlocked or locked to Vodafone

        • @TRENT86: locked but half were unlocked free and the other half for not much

        • G526 can be unlocked for less than $10 (just search around). It has an IPS screen and slightly better resolution.

In terms of everything else (other than screen and screen res), HTC Desire 510 wins. The CPU is quad core and 64-bit (G526 is only dual core —> check / run CPUz on it, it is dual core).

Problem is, HTC really made a bad decision with the screen resolution. It has a CPU that's better than Moto G, but a screen inferior to Moto G. The 8GB storage will help (G526, as much as I like it, did the 4GB partitioning in an rather odd way).

HTC Desire 510's main competitor is Moto G. However, the super duper great value for the money G526 serves as a good reminder that Moto G and Desire 510 aren't really priced at the super bargain level. That said, if you looked past the screen res, Desire 510 does have roughly same raw power (if not slightly better) as Moto G 4G edition. If it had a 720p, it would be a totally different story.
