15m CAT 5e $1 @ Officeworks Vermont South (VIC)

550

Just spotted these on the clearance tables in the isle in front of the doors. I suspect is a store specific special but happy to be proven wrong.

There were at least half a dozen in the basket at about 12:45 today.

Awesome deal, though I'm betting its unique to this store and will be all gone in the next 30 minutes tops :)

(If I were nearby I'd take them ALL, end of deal) … just being honest ;)

      • OMG, I hate you :P
I'm on mobile right now too!

        • Why is mobile a problem? :3

        • @Lukian: Probably doesn't want to use mobile data.

        • @dqtl74: Then don't click it? heh. Also ozbargain is the home of mobile plans with lots of data?

        • @dqtl74:
IT was more the content then anything, ha ha.

    • Yes and no.

I've purchased a house which I don't have a long term interest in, therefore I've wired it all with CAT5e. Easier to work with if you don't need future proofing. Sure it might suck for a future owner but that's not my problem.

Pitty coz all my runs were <15m too. But I bought multi-coloured anyway.

Nice work OP! Great to use for DIY speaker cables! Shame I'm 2000km away :(

    • +4

      Odd. Why the Neg?

EDIT: Cheers guys ;) If I was negged because of the Speaker Cable comment then it must've been by someone who has no idea it's possible. For those others who don't know please Google "DIY Cat 5 Speaker Cable" and be prepared to do a lot of reading! I have made a few 6-braid versions and they work very well and even the hardcore tests prove that they can be far better than $1000+ commerical cables. 6 x 15M patch leads will reduce to about half that length once braided plus you'll need a big backyard and some assistance to braid them nicely :) This is probably the best place to start: http://www.audioholics.com/gadget-reviews/diy-speaker-cable-…

        Cat 8 rules!
(of course I am just being a bit silly here, but all this is basically true, Google "Cat 8 cable")

        • Oh shiz im still running coax

    They'll stop at Cat 9

    • What if they pull a windows and skip 9 altogether?

      • we'll find out when we get there!
