        • Yes, you can.

  • Sorry if this sounds silly or if it has been asked before. Not sure how this works. Do I need to buy an entertainment book and then place an order for the gift cards.

    • Yes, you need to purchase your Entertainment Membership first. You can get digital membership, which is virtually instant to your phone and then you can purchase the gift cards.

      • thank you

    • or you can purchase 5% discounted woollies gift cards via cash rewards for no outlay of any membership cost

Very happy - just purchased $1,100 of giftcards to pay for my Apple Mac :)

  • Has everyone purchased other gift cards (e.g. JB Hifi, Myer etc) only through self serve or has anyone managed to do this through the actual service counters?

    • I have purchased super cheap auto gift cards through the self checkout before using the physical wish gift cards (not egift card) and it didn't even need staff authorisation (coles self checkout requires this when purchasing gift cards). I assume it would work the same for egift cards.

    • In the past I have purchased iTunes gift cards at a self service checkout. No staff intervention required.

    • Just do it at actual service counters; they don't actually care, if that's what you're worried about.

Like I purchased 11 $100 giftcards (I thought they would be mad cuz it was so many) at BigW counter because they didn't have anything above $100. The lady said people do it all the time.

  • I bought my giftcard on Sunday and i still haven't received it, anyone know of a contact number for woolies gift cards?

  • Just bought myself a $500 card. This better work at Woolworths/Caltex fuel outlets.

    • +1

Use one today at WW paying for groceries to qualify for the $1 starter kit deal:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/174141

    • Hmm… thought it was said that it didn't work at WW/Caltex and Dick Smith. But the worse that can happen is that you just go into a Woolies and "convert" it into a Wish gift card instead, which IS accepted those places.

      • Posts above seem to suggest it can be used at any Woolworths group store just like the standard Woolwoths e-gift Wish cards.

I've bought and used e-wish cards at Woolworths/Caltex before. Just not Big W branded ones.

Yes conversion is always an option, but I prefer the pdf e-cards.

  • I purchased some e-giftcards about 17 hours ago and they havent come through yet?

    • Finally received my card 24 hours later, will be trying at Caltex over the weekend.

      • Weird that it takes that long to issue a digital gift card?

        • They must process them manually or something due to the severe delay

  • I just received my email with the number and pin. Can you use this is self check out? If so, do you have to type in the long number and hold up everyone in the queue? I would have thought it would come with a barcode and it will just scan.

    • You can use at the self service. You select e-gift card for payment, enter code and then PIN. It is quick and simple.

    • Not the long number, there's a slightly shorter (10 digit) one that you have to type into the card swiping thing. It's not too bad. Yes a bit slower than swiping a gift card, but not so bad that you're holding up the queue by more than a few extra seconds.

  • The OP mentioned that this offer expires on 30 Dec 2014. I don't seem to be able to find the T&C where this is stated. Any chance this may be an ongoing deal by Entertainment Book? Thanks in advance.

    • +2

The 30 December date was in an email I received from Entertainment Book. However the T&C do leave a little hope. Anyway you just reminded me to buy $1,500 more of gift cards for the next few months of groceries.

      • Thanks rabbit71, for the clarification :-)

  • Can you use these gift cards for DickSmith Online?

    • +1

      Nope, they dont work.

      • Dang.

        • I should have mentioned that you can buy a physical wish gift card (or DSE card) and use that to purchase via online or instore DSE, just not the egift versions of them.

        • @Coops1:
Thanks Coops, I did confirm that with a DSE staff member today.

  • It now says "Valid until 01 June 2015." Anyone know if this means the deal is no longer expiring tomorrow?

    • One would think so. Otherwise, what would this date refer to? This coincides with the expiring of the 2014 membership.

      • +1

The 7.5% off offer definitely expires on the 31st December. The cards are valid for 12 months from issue.

The 01 June 2015 date is just that an erroneous date. Buying $2500 more tomorrow just to have the next few months covered.

        • The entertainment book site doesn't say anything about an expiry of the offer prior to 1 June 2015. Will find out on 1 January 2015 I guess.

        • @cnrmlj: It does:

          TERMS & CONDITIONS
          Valid until 01 June 2015.
Redeemable at all BIG W stores.
For BIG W eGift Card terms and conditions please visit everydaygiftcards.com.au

        • There is conjecture above about it expiring on 31/12/2014 or 30/12/2014. Agree that it expires on 1 June 2015 according to the information on the entertainment book website (i.e. there is nothing about it expiring prior to 1 June 2015).

        • @cnrmlj:

They haven't made this one very clear at all.

It does say "BIG W eGift Cards are valid for 12 months from the date of issue" but then under terms, the statement above.

I'd say the "deal" ends 01 June 2015 - but they really should clarify what that date means.

        • OMG people, you won't get the 7.5% off after 31December…Come 01Jan2015 you will only buy them @ 5% off. Who gives a stuff if they expire on 01Jun or in 12 months time. Of course they wont expire this week, geeesh!

        • @Coops1: Where does it say the deal ends today?

        • @whodidthat:

It was in the email we all got, exactly as per rabbit71's comment

Otherwise I am holding 5 grands worth when I could have spaced it over 5 months.

        • @Coops1: You're right, I just checked the e-mail I received but it should be specified on the deal page as well (under terms & conditions). That's why I said they haven't been very clear with this one.

Fine print from the email I received. Sorry I set the wrong expiry date.

Phoned "Entertainment" yesterday to clarify the end date of this offer. Was transferred around a bit with varying answers. Some said "if the website shows 1/6/15 then that must be the date". Someone else said that "1/6/15 is the end date of the current book so it may just have defaulted to that date" and that I should check with "Wish Cards".

Phoned "Wish Cards" and was transferred around a lot and also asked to phone a different number. Eventually got to speak with a guy who was definite about the end date.

He was certain that the end date was 31/12/14 (unless my memory is playing tricks on me and he said 30/12/14). He said the agreement that they have with "Entertainment" for the 7.5% discount is until 31/12/14, not 1/6/15. He said he will phone them to have it corrected on their website as that could be misleading. He said that 1/6/15 could refer to the end date for the standard 5% discount.

    • You obviously spent quite a bit of effort to get it clarified. Thanks a lot :-)

  • In spite of the offer expiry date, it is still available today, 31 December 2014.

    • That's because I set the wrong date (see previous post). The expiry date is today, however I can't edit the post for some reason.

  • Tried buying WISH GCs with this at Woolies - can't do through self checkout (requires attendant), but this may be because this was all I tried buying.

Anyway, both the attendant and the service counter staff was certain you cannot buy a GC with a GC (and wasn't willing to try).

Went to BigW and the staff there was unsure but at least willing to try. It did work as expected.

  • Deal is now expired. Back to 5%. Glad I jumped on a last minute order for $5000. Will do me a few months. :)

    • have you got your order yet? i did a big one too on the 30th and did not get even the invoice email.

      • Your in a bit of bother then…I would be checking up with them.. Invoice is immediate, with card details following soon after, either within an hour or 3

      • No I haven't received anything as yet, but I am not too worried as it is New Year so I am sure it will come through.

      • I ordered 31/12/15 and received an order confirmation email very quickly, but not the usual invoice. And still awaiting the egift card details. If you are worried, check https://everydaygiftcards.com.au/wowmoney/giftcards/landing.…

        • came through… phew! but couldn't use it to buy wish GC at woolies. Definitely no go at the machine.
