Cheapest (by far) locally is $137++ not delivered.

    DEAL

You know it's a good deal when the 240 gb is cheaper than the 120.

      • This.
        120GB 79.24
        240GB 72.99
        Couldn't believe it!!

  • Wow nice deal!!

If anyones after a larger sized SSD than 240/256 like me…..I'm after a 512 sized drive and found the MX100 is $190 USD at Amazon with free shipping.

    http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX100-adapter-Internal-CT512MX…

AUD $223 approx. Cheapest in country is $265 on staticice.

    • Only free shipping if you use the Amex deal. The free shipping it claims doesn't apply to Australia otherwise.

In saying that, shipping is only $5.65US.

      • It says free shipping for me in my cart. shrug

        • Yes I know, it says it to everyone.

Go to edit your cart, the on the right hand side click the 'estimate your shipping and tax' and it will show up the actual postage costs.

        • Nope. There's an Amazon global promo for free shipping. In the cart it has shipping 5.65 but next line item is the promo -5.65.

          Woot!

        • @Skramit: the only promo is if you have an Amex card and spend over $100.

          From Amazon's website

Why didn't I qualify for free shipping?

Your Amazon Export Sales, Inc. items:
          Shipping to: (address removed) Australia

Not Eligible:Items shipped to addresses outside the United States are not eligible for FREE Shipping.

    • buy 2 m500s and raid 0 them

  • Which model is better, m500 or mx100

The Samsung evo 500gb is around 230aud. How does that compare to the mx100 512?

    • +1

Mx100 is newer but performance is comparable. The mx100 has 256GB as opposed to 240 on this. I picked up the 256GB mx100 for $106 delivered during the past 20% eBay deal.

I think mine was a better deal but this is pretty cheap as well!

    • +1

      MX100 http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/807?vs=1221

Shortly put, the MX100's task is to replace the M500 and it does that brilliantly. While the MX100's main goal is to lower the price by using smaller lithography NAND, it also provides a minor increase in performance over the M500 and offers the same industry-leading set of features.

As to evo vs mx100, click the bench link and swap them over.

  • thx, grabbed 2 for around AU$180 delivered :)

    • include all the CC fee, conversion fee? How is warranty for Amazon purchase? attempt to…but never buy from Amazon.

      • +3

Amazon warranty is generally pretty good. My girlfriend got me a graphics card for Christmas last year from Amazon and after 3 months it went screwy from a manufacturing defect. We contacted amazon and they had us send it back to them at our cost (which they refunded on receiving the card) and gave us a full refund including the original shipping costs.

        • Thanks.

        • +7

I'm lucky to get a xmas card, with graphics on it :P

        • AUD$94.81 shipped Just buy one to try…

        • missed MSY Sandisk SSD sales before, have to catch this one…

  • Fantastic Price !

  • Awesome deal purchased :)

  • Good price point.

    Bought!!! Thanks OP.

Can someone tell me if I need an adaptor to install this in a desktop computer? does it take normal SATA and power cables? or does it need any adaptors thanks.

    • Standard SATA power/data connections.

But, due to SSDs being the size of laptops drives (2.5") it won't mount "normally". Some come with a holder/adaptor to 3.5"… but even 2 screws in one side is enough (they weigh like 2 AA batteries), unless you plan on taking it offroad racing.

  • Can I just swap my Acer core duo laptop harddisk with this or I need some kind of case or caddy? Also the cables (power and connector) are the same?

    • if 2.5 Hdd, YES
      If 1.8 Hdd, No
Ask google, if not sure the spec of laptop.

    • -1

Laptop HDD, direct swap, any make/model.

Maxall brings-up points that are true, but RARE. Better to check though, that your lappy has a 2.5" drive. You can find its model code in MyComputer.

  • You can see in the picture it has standard SATA connectors.

How is this model compare to Samsung Evo ?

  • Thanks sabaramo

The Samsung evo 500gb is around 230aud. How does that compare to the mx100 512?

    • +1

Slightly faster, but not much in it. The Samsung should come with a free copy of Far Cry 4 which is nice.

  • +2

Thank you, OP! Finally pulled the trigger for a SSD!

    • Good move :-)

  • Bought 2 USD 152.52 Shipped to NSW

  • Awesome price, thanks OP.

Are these good for MacBook Pros ? WIll be updating for the first time

    • Best to check on Google first to see if your Mac model can support SSD upgrades before you buy..

    • I recently bought (Samsung 840 Evo Series 250GB $135) from centre com for MacBook Pro; . It's super fast.
      Centercom

  • don't forget to start from ebates.com for a further 8% off.. unsure if computer hardware qualify, but it's worth a try

  • +2

If anyone needs RAM Crucial(Amazon) have their 8GB-1600-CL9 kit for US$63.99, and only 50c extra postage if bought with an SSD.

  • Any one else seeing this for the 240GB?
    Sequential Read: 500 MB/s | Sequential Write: 50 MB/s | 4KB Random Read: 72,000 IOPS

    50MB/s??? Hope it's a typo

    • LOL! Typo indeed.

      Seq write should be 250MB/s

If you've got an AMEX card there's free Amazon shipping for orders over $100 USD.

    Bought 2, worked for me.

    https://network.americanexpress.com/connect/au/en/offer_deta…

  • bought 1 got free standard shipping, Awesome price!

  • I had problems with this on my Haswell system. It appears to be a known issue with the M500. I'm going to avoid Crucial from now on, to be safe. Still, a good price if you aren't affected by it.

    • tell me more?
      i just bought 2
did you update the firmware? thought that was meant to fix any sleep issues and compatibility issues?

      • It BSODs a lot on Haswell systems. The controller has incompatibility issues.

It's possible they've been fixed with firmware updates, I don't know. I ditched the drive for an EVO which had no problems. Much more reliable.

  • Now US$104.99

  • Is it expired now? I just tried and its AUD$134 (+shipping)?

    • yeah expired. i noticed it while pondering if i should buy it

luckily i had 2 in cart and it preserved the price for some reason

  • Missed out!

  • no store even amazon can stands more than 100 +votes from ozb

        • deal is there but they wont ship to my address on the sunshine coast

        • @mauricem: I was thinking about moving to there. With Amazon not shipping to there it might be a deal breaker.
