  • Not stackable with their normal discount code?

    • +2

The gentleman I spoke to said it can be stacked, as long as it meets the exclusion requirements in the T&Cs.

      • +3

Is it like a prepaid gift card, or a voucher code? You can only enter a single voucher code on their website I think?

      • +2

Only 1 (one) discount is permitted

        • +1

Yeah you can't stack codes, enter 2nd and it will cancel out the first

        • +1

I just called the store back. Unless this guy has no idea what he's talking about, he said this coupon can be used with one other discount, as this coupon is not considered a discount as such. Sorry, but that's the only info I have.

        • @tightarse: Well from experience, if it's a code like and online code he is totally wrong you can never stack, maybe it's attached to email and if you sign in it auto takes off $10?

        • +3

          @TRENT86:

Who knows Trent. I learned long ago not to trust Dick. Let's just wait and see how this plays out.

        • The $10 would be a gift voucher code, it can stack with a promo code :)

  • .nvm, page was broken

  • +1

Seems like the normal $10 off $50 coupon except this requires going into the store and signing up for something. They always exclude gaming software too which is annoying!

  • +3

Does this mean we won't be treated like crap now if we become mates with dick?
Mates get back to you after you've emailed or called them.

    • And you stand by ya mate when he's in a fight.

      • A fight with Fair Trading and ACCC?

      • +1

        Stand by…watching.

  • +11

I work at DS. This code CANNOT be stacked, but can be used in conjunction with already applied discounts on the online store.
"Mates Rates" was rolled out today, and staff were notified last week so most should know about it.

Thanks for clearing this up PowerB. I think you need to tag yourself as 'associated' :)

      • +4

Yeah, I probably should have! Thanks for that! :)

I am not sure how much scam in this but first you getting confirmation from Dick Smith Newzeland and so far there is no $10 voucher. To me so far its sound not legit. And i did it online on the provided link not sure it is only for instore.

    • Read the post. In-store only.

      • +1

        sorry than my bad.

  • +2

Tried to sign up here in Dick Smith store here in Sydney and the staff said that I can only sign up when I make a purchased in store!!!

The sign up screen only appear when you make the payment. You can't sign up without making a purchase first. Just wasted my time.

    • +1

Yeah, @tightarse should probably include that in the post. Purchase is necessary as there is no other way (that we know about) to bring up the sign up options.

      • +1

Why not allow us to sign up online?

        • I have no idea. It may eventually be available through signing up online, but for now I suppose they're trying to get their userbase up at the point of sale. That and I suppose it could be abused online by people setting up multiple email accounts.

        • @PowerB:

just bought a phone 2 days ago :(

  • +1

How long until they hike up their prices to compensate for this?

    • +1

      when there's an ebay sale

  • +1

    what is mates rate?

    • give you a mate shoulder tap when you buy something from them

they might whink at you too……..

      • I think you're thinking of a previous promotion "mate's dates"

  • +1

Just tried to sign up instore and they said only if i buy something first. Told the guy to look it up online, and that it says you caqn sign up and get the voucher, and he did and insisted you only get the voucher if you buy something first! So annoyed! Stupid DICK!

    • +1

Nice way to treat your "mates".
With mates like dick who needs enemies.

    • +2

You should have asked for the manager and showed them the T&C's, no mention of purchase required!

  • +3

Not after my experience with them this weekend.
    - Ordered Click & Collect on Thursday.
    - Popped into the store that night to see if it was ready (hadn't received an email, but I was nearby so thought I'd check); the store knew nothing about the order.
    - 24 hours went by, so I called the online order people and they said there was something wrong at the store and they would call me back.
    - They left a voicemail later saying they are sorting it out and would call the next day (of course they did not).
    - Called this morning and spent a total of 40minutes on the phone only to be told the order was cancelled on Thursday by the store before I went in.

No email to say it was cancelled, not cancelled when it log in online, no mention of that when I went in or when I called. Apparently the item was out of stock, yet it is still listed as in stock at that store on their website. You think they'd fix that. Now to wait a week for a gift card to be reissued…

    • +3

At least you can waste some of their postage money when they mail back the gift cards. Same thing happened to me.
Wouldn't ever want to be mates with Dick.

  • Can anyone recommend the CX300s or any other decent headphone under $50? Will be the first time buying any headphones, so any advice would be great. As I understand it, can you make a purchase and you'll be discounted then and there?

  • Wwhats the cheapest thing to buy, so I can sign up to some Dick love?

  • +2

Can't you just buy gift cards and immediately redeem the $10 with your gift card next time?

  • Thank yoop nice find once again TA :)

  • Wait, isn't $10 of $50 spend, $20 off $100 spend etc. their everyday deal?

  • Hey guys, is this the cheapest way currently to buy PSN AU credit?

    • +3

Excludes Prepaid Mobile Products, Calling Cards, iTunes and App Store Gift Cards, Dick Smith Gift Cards, Xbox Live and PSN Cards, and Gaming Software.

  • So I signed up today but haven't got a voucher,… Those who have how long did it take??

    • I signed up in store on Friday afternoon. No voucher yet.

      Anyone got theirs yet?

      • Same with me… I'm gonna ring them because I think that they'll come after all the sales etc

      • Only took them 1 week to email the coupon. :(

Too late, Dick, in the meantime I bought item from elsewhere.

        • Still nothing for me -_-

  • Signed up for this when I picked up the eBay $399 ps4 bundle :-) (didn't need to make another purchase in store, just the click and collect). Not sure if I got lucky.

    • I think you got lucky. I also had a click & collect and they said I had to make a new in-store purchase. I guess it's up to each store/manager.

      • +2

It was probably part luck, part opportunistic. From the stores point of view, I had just spent $444 with them.

Also factor in that I had to wait several days longer than usual due to oversupply & the fact that I had called up twice to check progress & they also knew I had a one hour drive to get there & I spoke to the same person throughout the whole ordeal. On top of that I took advantage of the fact that I was put out & messed around to get my purchase. And, I also played dumb and said "oh, what's this mates rates thing I've heard about recently"? DSE:" oh yeah, I can sign you up for it now while I'm processing this if you're interested?". Me: yeah sounds good.

It's just a tick box on the screen during the transaction, he showed me it.

Good service from the staff at Chirnside Park, very friendly and helpful, tolerant / patient too.
