  • If I remember it correctly it is a dupe.

  • How does this compare to a Nexus 7?

    • 1GB Ram and lower resolution

  • Coincidentally was looking at this last night (dropped my brand new Pendopad on the ground -_-) but ended up ordering the new HP tablet instead for $129. Thoughts? http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/hp-7-plus-g2-…. Wasn't too sure about the processor but it's quad core and resolution was better

    • isn't the intel chipset better than the allwinnder a33?

      • I don't know squat about that kinda stuff, but then again I only needed a tablet for some extremely basic functions so it's no biggy if I made the wrong choice i guess

    • Better choice. When your phone has more pixels than your tablet. You need a better tablet.

    • Wouldn't buy any tablet now that won't support android 5.0.

      • Would that affect me much if all I'm using it for is mainly some movie playing, skyping, and web browsing?

        • For skyping and movies you'd be ok, but this one has a low resolution (1024x600), so text is a bit blurry for browsing.

I bought the HD 7 in june this year for $99 at HN, for the kids. It's ok for movies, but the asus android 'enhancements' are a bit annoying. Better see which tablets are on offer in january.

  • How does this compare to the other $99 Asus tablets - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148752 (old deal)

    • this tablets got less pixels, less MP camera, has dual core instead of quad. Not sure on battery. What it does have is more up to date Jellybean 4.3 and newer asus ui.
The successor to the old asus memo pad hd 7 is this asus memo pad 7: http://www.harveynorman.com.au/computers-tablets/ipads-surfa…
Can't wait for that price to drop :P

dual core cpu but also has 4 threads for the current deal

  • This is the perfect tablet to buy instead of an eReader as you're not locked into the eReader's own store (like Kobo, Kindle, etc.) I bought one for the missus for Xmas to replace her Kobo reader.

    • I'm going to disagree here.
Tablets and ereaders (with an e-ink screen) are different classes of devices.

  • I was looking at this yesterday too, my son cracked his nexus 7. Only needs it for kid games, talking tom, FIFA, minion rush, he's 7. Any opinions guys?

    • Does he even NEED a tablet at that age

otherwise probably not a terrible option

      • My 5 year old brother has a tablet, my 7 year old sister and 11 year old brother does as well..

        What is your point?

        • His point is that it is probably not good for a childs development to be using a tablet from a young age. We took the ipad away from my 5 year old son. Although he only played with it four hours a week he was becoming less interactive with us and talking less.
We have noted a visible improvement since he stopped playing games on it.

        • @coldturkey:

wehther you like it or not training them young is not a bad idea imo.

the 5 year old attended kinder all this year and they use ipads.. same deal all the way up to highschool

Does he even NEED a tablet at that age

Gosh, what a silly and ignorant comment.

Do you even NEED a computer at your age?

      • My 5yr old and 7 yr old have tablets and they only really use them for the school run drive in the morning and afternoon. They get no TV in the mornings and this is their chill out time on the way to school and kindy. I think as long and they are using it within reason and have no internet access, what's the harm.
