Hey guys,

I know I know, this has been posted a multitude of times, but I believe this to be extremely cheap (cheaper than about two weeks ago).

For those first time users including myself to Zavvi, the code WELCOME allows a further 10% off, hence I ended up paying including shipping £14.50 = $27.62AUD

Have a look at the following comment made by Vermin76 below:

"They also have a MasterPass deal where you purchase with masterpass and they then send you a voucher for £10 to use on your next purchase. I didn't have a Masterpass set up but just following the steps you can easily add a credit/debit card to the MasterPass wallet.** **http://www.zavvi.com/masterpass.list"

Could be useful for ongoing users of Zavvi

EDIT 2: OZBARGAINED, SORRY GUYS

    Under the $30 threshold…. Nice

  • Thanks, finally took the opportunity to purchase this. Easily the best offer for a long time. I tried previously with a deal for this that popped up last week claiming to have free postage, but it was $10 postage so no go.

  • The films are on Blu-Ray but the special features are DVD is that correct?

  • Got this with the amazonUK deal a few weeks ago - it was $32 posted so this is a tad better

Amazon uses much better packaging compared to Zavvi. Worth it to pay the extra to have the box set arrive without any damage.

      • Amen to that! I've made out 5-6 orders, everything from a single DVD up to box sets, and every one of them have arrived with some sort of damage - corners bumped and splits to cardboard box sets…

That's what you get for paying less than $2 for postage I guess, a lousy padded bag…

        • Yeah I bought this a month or so ago from Zavvi - the item itself was fine, but yeah the packaging was pretty crappy and torn, if it had been bounced around a bit more I'm sure the top would have torn off lol - you could see into the bag through the tears that were on the bag when it arrived to me.

  • JB sent me an email today trying to sell this to me for $84

    You have my wallet!

  • Is it possible with this, or any other version, to "choose" between the cinematic and extended editions from the same discs?

They also have a MasterPass deal where you purchase with masterpass and they then send you a voucher for £10 to use on your next purchase. Using Masterpass I purchased the Jerry Bruckheimer Bluray Pack for $28 delivered and then used my voucher to get this LOTR boxset for under $12 delivered. I didn't have a Masterpass set up but just following the steps you can easily add a credit/debit card to the MasterPass wallet.

  • Silly question but do you need to worry about region with blueray?

    • +4

Uk is same as Oz, not a silly question :)

Just bear in mind the extras dvd's are region 2, not 4, so wont work in AU dvd/BR players unless they are unlocked.

      • Pretty much all BluRay players are multi-region for DVDs even if they don't advertise it; getting a multi-region BluRay player is a bit harder, but being in region B with the UK almost entirely removes the pain (for me, buying English-language stuff).

I made my BluRay player region-switchable, but have never had to switch the regions as everything I have is either region-free or region B.

        • Only thing I've needed to switch for is Criterion version of videodrome I have. I think all criterion are zone A locked

      • Can't every Aus BR/DVD player be unlocked for region free DVD? Or is that no longer the case? I seem to remember some court thing about it.. I know it's not the case for BR zones unfortunately (although I still have my $99 Zone switching Toshiba, yay)

        • To my knowledge the majority of BR/DVD players on the market are region locked for both DVD and BR. Products such as the Oppo BPD-103/105 allow mod kits to bypass region locking

        • @Copie: Don't think that's true - for DVDs. Bought a cheapie Sony BDSP1200 for the kids TV and it immediately played my region 2 DVDs without any modding. BR is different and you have to work at it, or buy the Kogan.
