Get DJ to price match it + use 3x Amex cards will drop that to $334. I wonder when pricematching will their 20% off Dyson also kick in.

    • Use 3x amex cards? You referring to the spend $150 get $30 at DJs promotion?

      • Yep.

  • How do you activate the $15 off per $75 deal?

      Welcome to OZB.

I have a Chromecast I don't know what to do with, and about one flashlight in every room, 2 in each car. Powered by eneloops no less.

      • You forgot the free aussie flags in every room.

    • Can you upload the receipt pls?

  • Does it come with a stick/handle? Any special heads with it, or just standard one? Cheers for the find!

Great price but is it worth it to drop $ 334 for an overly design vacuum (I'm quoting one of the recent review on Amazon)? Check the review here before you buy:

    • Thanks. I'll give this a pass after reading those reviews.

My friend is the owner/manager of a vacuum store that also does repairs. He says Dysons are the "Beats by Dre" of vacuums. People are attracted by their fancy marketing and design, but he says they are never the best option for the price. They are not the worst vacuums in the world, but they are generally high in price but below average in pickup (suction power) and average in reliability. You are paying a premium for the name and receiving an average product. I asked him why people constantly rave about them, and he said that because Dyson is a recognised and trusted name, people are willing to pay more for them. They buy $150 vacuum cleaners all their life and are disappointed with them, so they save $700 for a Dyson and are amazed when it is better than a $150 vacuum cleaner and the word spreads. What they don't know is that they could have paid $400 on a vacuum cleaner that is better than the Dyson in every way, but don't because they are wary of spending that much on a name they don't recognise.

      • Did your friend have any recommendations?

I've heard people talking about Miele a lot, but I've never had the guts to press that buy button ever.

        • What is your household like? How many rooms? How much carpet? How much wood/tiles? Pets?

        • It's a small room size area that is covered mostly in carpet. Though I am actually planning on moving the year after so I am looking for something decent within $300. Also my girlfriend seems to have allergy to dust so that is why I'd rather spend money and buy something decent. No pets yet. I am not too certain how the things are going to turn out next year.

Also, thank you in advance :D

@AznMitch: A Miele bagged canister vac would probably be the best out of what you can reliably find in most stores. They come with excellent filters. However, I'm told that there is some drop off in functionality among the low end of their range so don't go much lower than $300.

Do not listen to the hype around bagless vacs. They seem to be getting more and more popular these days, but they are simply worse. Worse at pickup, worse at cleaning the air, worse in reliability. I challenge you to find a proper vacuum professional that uses a bagless vac.

        • @Franckel: Thank you so much :)
This is why I love OzBargain :D

        • @Franckel: I agree, my Miele Cat & Dog hasn't missed a beat.

      • Miele isn't cheap either… And I think one of the things that brought Dyson to where they are is the no bag system. I understand the analogy with Beats but don't think it's exactly the same.

        • Dysons and Beats are average/below average products sold at a premium price. Some of their competitors offer significantly superior products for a significantly lower price. Satisfied?

As for bagless systems, they're all marketing and lies. A quality bagged vacuum will perform better and be more reliable.

        • @Franckel: Yeah I guess I see your point. I have a question though - what about the stick Dysons? Do they have a comparable (or better) alternatives for a lower price?

        • @Franckel: Sounds like a mainstream mobile phone that is quite popular these idays.

      • …this IS a $400 vaccum.. Does that mean it's great value based on what you said? (Legit question very tempted to buy. I understand it's prob not worth the usual $700, but it's now much less than that)

        • It's okay. Not great, but decent. Probably on par with the leading portion of the market, but no better. You won't be wasting money by getting this vac at this price, but a similarly priced bagged Miele canister vac wouldn't be inferior. If you really want a Dyson, this is a good deal.

        • @Franckel:

Cheers- no need to specifically get a dyson, just was wondering if this discount brought a better product down to the pack which are already that price. Sounds like it's only evening them up, so I guess not worth it.

      • Choice mag recommended the Sebo K3. Have not seen one in person yet. What are your thoughts?

We need the moons to align again where you get 30% plus $15 off every $75… devastated I didn't get in on that.

  • I don't own one of these but I borrowed one off my neighbour last week as I was having my carpet removed and floorboards installed. This vacuum cleaner is brilliant. It saved me so much time in sweeping small rocks, concrete dust, nails, and general rubbish. You can vacuum anything with this. I'll probably grab one myself but will wait until after the Xmas sales as I am sure it will come down further.

What ever happened to a good ol dustpan and broom?

    • Carpet happened :( They seem to attract dust like magnets.

  • Does this work any more? It doesn't seem to add the discount on for the sale vacuum cleaners :(

    • It looks like this model is not valid for the $15 off every $75 offer. I added another Dyson to my 'bag' that was not 'on special' and the price was discounted but the DC47 did not automatically apply the discount? May have been picked up after being OzBargained and not included in the deal….

  • Does this come with a power head?

  • It seems the Dyson is a lot cheaper in the USA and so can be bought on Amazon. With Amex there is free shipping ? WOuld the Dyson have a 100-240 V allowance or would these units not be OK with Australian voltages?

    • AMEX free shipping has a size limit and the weight limit according to the post here.

Offer does not apply to items larger than 16” x 14” x 10” or over 20 lbs., digital content, Kindle devices and accessories, and gift cards.

    • One unit I saw on Amazon said 110v only so be careful.
