  from what i have found online you can mutli region so it does play dvds but playing foreign bluray is a completely different task and it is one of those things you really want to come from the manufacturer
  but here are the instructions i found on whirlpool so i hope they help
  1. Ensure that there is no disk in the tray.

  1. Switch the player off and then back on. This is necessary to clean-boot the firmware.

  2. Wait until the main menu page appears and the player stops doing anything.

  3. Press the eject button to open the tray. (The button is between the "Power" and "TV Power" buttons at the top of the controller.)

  4. Press the eject button to close the tray.

  5. Wait while the player searches for a disk.

  6. As soon as the "No Disk" message appears at the top right corner do the following.

  7. Press the REPEAT button – just above the TV channel selector at the bottom right of the controller.

  8. Enter 76884 on the number pad. This is The Code If You Have A Region 4 Player (Other Region Codes Given Below)

  9. The region code "4" should appear at the top right corner of the screen.(this just flashed on then off, so keep an eye on the screen)

  10. If you see "4" over the top right corner, quickly enter "9" to make the player region free.

  11. Power down and power up again.

  12. Play a foreign DVD to verify the change.

  3 – 5 6 7 3 2
  4 – 7 6 8 8 4
  5 – 5 3 8 1 4

  YOu may have to try many times. YOu have limited time window to enter the numbers. As soon as you see "4" on the top right corner, quickly enter "9".

  Wow tempted. This should better my current Philips BP 2700. Anyone know if this is loud? I know it sounds strange but when searching or even playing the Philips makes a loud audible sound.
