  • Excellent price

I think you mean the ON ears version

      • Deleted

        • Those look like on-ears. The one in OP is over-ear, which are known to be more expensive

          EDIT: disregard

      • Fug, misread OP. Downvote away!

    • +7

They say ON ear. There are two types

  • Great price! I bought the ON Ear version for $147.50 from DS eBay with another 20% off. I wanted these but they weren't on special

  • RRP on eBay looks ridiculous, but that doesn't mean this is a decent price. :)

    Good find OP.

    • +1

      That is the RRP $399

      • I've realised that I made a silly mistake of reading it wrongly. :P
No wonder why it looked ridiculous. :S

  • For those who bought the on-ear version, this is the right place to spend your money on :)

  • Nice price. There's 10% off for ebay retailers click and collect (this deal) from the 15th so it might be even better if this price stays till then.

As been mentioned, there's the cheaper on-ear version. Anyone with either of these headphones, what are your thoughts on them?

    • Heh, already jumped the gun and ordered some before I saw that. :(
Either way the deal might not last until Monday, these headphones are also on special on the Dick Smith website, but only until the end of today.
Maybe this special is only until the end of today as well?

      • I suspect it's unlikely that it will last till Monday, as you say. You've scored a pretty good deal anyhow :)

Everyone's quick to point out the over ears sound better, but the point of on ear models are the mobility? If I wasn't in public or on the move I would be looking at the larger ones, but weren't an option.
The on ear form factor was similar to the HD-25 so preferred that as well, they sound quite good but haven't heard the over ear to compare.

    • +1

The over-ear ones are not large…

      • I am 1.8m tall and weight 95kg.
The over ears still look large on me :D

Fyi it is not glasses friendly tho.

        • You must have a small head mate :)

        • @jva: not according to my optometrist :)

      • They looked goofy to me, hence would've confined them to home use. Sennheiser make some poor designs outside their top tier models.

        • If you want goofy looking look up the NAD Viso HP50 headphones on google. It's what I'm buying these Sennheisers to replace.

      • They aren't. They're a bit cumbersome though if you aren't using them and you're out and about. They're a tad awkward around the neck since they don't extend very far although you can still get away with having them around the neck.

Compared to many other headphones I don't consider the over ear models particularly big at all.

    • Size wise they're quite similar
Over-ears are tad bigger and sort of cover my ears whereas on-ears sit on them
Personally, sound wise I like on-ears better for outdoor

Quality wise over-ears are little better

    • Personally I don't understand why anyone would consider on ears over … er, over ears unless you are leaving the house with them. I think on-ears look a ****load better and are easier to wear around your neck without being too ridiculous in terms of restricting movement.

Why would you choose something less comfortable that allows in more external sound sources?

  • Good price indeed. Torn between this and Auido Technica ATH m50xBL $179 at eGlobal

    • get the m50x without a doubt.

    • +1

Tough choice but only you will know which one suits your taste more. Here's two video reviews from Tyll Hertson and he talks a bit about the pros and cons of each:

I have both! IMO, Momentums for sure.

    • They both sound fantastic as per many reviews. Soundwise, the Sennheiser may have a little bit of edge over the Audio Technica ATH m50xBL (still subjective though). However, two things sway me toward the Audio Technica ATH m50xBL:

      1. Longer cables
      2. More comfortable over long hours of listening.
  • Are the cups as small as I've heard? I have average sized ears and I want them to be completely encased when wearing these?

    • +1

      Won't be a problem.

      • Awesome. Thanks.

How are these for sound leakage?

Edit: Nevermind, found some youtube videos. Seems pretty decent.

      • For me they're fine. I've read some people find they sit on their ears a bit and they didn't like it. I love mine however. I own other headphones that certainly have larger cup sizes. The headphones aren't overly tight anyway so I can't imagine they'd cause too much stress either way. The leather paddings quite comfortable.

      • agree!

    • From a review at InnerFidelity:
      http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/very-adult-sennheiser-m…

my ears are just slightly smaller than average, which is 65mm from top to bottom. The inside dimensions of the Momentum earpads are 50mm X 35mm. That means there's 15mm of something that's got to give. Fortunately, while the outside of the ear cushions are leather, the inside circumference if the ear cushion is made of a very stretchy fine mesh knit fabric covering the soft memory foam that does provide quite a bit of give to accommodate the ear within the cushion. For me it was cozy, but very, very comfortable. But I have heard from many others online that claim the pads simply do not accommodate their ears, and who returned the Momentum due to poor fit.
To summarize: the Momentum is a very light and comfortable headphone, but they must be adjusted carefully, and your ears can't be too much larger than average size (70mm top to bottom is probably the max size ear for these headphones).

  • anyone else getting issues with paypal? keeps saying declined payment even though the linked accounts are working

    • I had that issue too. It didn't like the address ebay was passing through to PayPal. When I switched to using my home address rather than my work address the order went through fine.
I thought all this was a bit odd since I was doing store pickup anyway but it still wanted me to have the address filled in.

got these when they were $233 delivered. they're pretty good. I got a big head and ears and I think their pretty comfortable.
Those who question the rrp, look at jb hifi and the apple store. $220 is a good price. only seen it cheaper at amazon..once..
Pretty happy with them. doesn't have the same bass as other headphones but the sound is good…actually very good. I can hear instruments on songs that I don't usually hear…

  • Are these the same ones from their website?? currently selling them for $147
    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/sennheiser-momentum-over-ear-hea…

    • Those are the on-ear(not over-ear) version. If you do a search on the website for sennheiser momentum these ones should appear with a price of around $280.

    • Those are the ON ear version, which are the cheaper (RRP$299) version.

OP is showing the OVER ear version, which is more expensive (RRP$399)

      • yikes ..knew I missed something… thanks

Will this headphone still available on Monday?

  • I have both of these. Same price at the recent 20% off eBay store sale. The On-Ears are quite small and more similar to the HD-25-IIs

  • Over 500 clicks and only 11 bought. Can I return it if the sound isn't good?

    • The sound is the best among all the headphones <$400

      • That's pretty debatable…

I have had a brown pair since release and while one of my preferred options I'm not sure if it is the best. I would say the ES9 and ES10 would easily give the Momentums a run for their money at <$400.

While I can't say for certain having never gotten my hands on them, if I could ever own a pair of AT ESW11, I wouldn't be looking for another portable set of cans again.

I've got a fair set of cans too, plus a lot of top tier IEMs
        AT ESW9
        Senn Momentum over-ear
        Senn Momentum on-ear (just purchased)
        Senn HD650
        AT W3000 ANV

      • oooh… careful there dt880 and hd600 are on that price range. For closed hps maybe, no where near best of the best at that price range though.

  • Is the 10% automatically deducted at checkout? There isn't a discount code anywhere

    • nvm, just found out

  • I tried these. Not bad, quite detailed, but didn't really like them. Comfort was also a slight concern with significant clamping pressure.

  • +1

Bought these and sound was great! BUT couldn't wear them for more than 45 minutes without them hurting my ears and top of my head (the top head rest bit is hard, not soft). Exchanged them for the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 - no regrets. Sound is not as good, BUT at least I can wear them for more than 45 minutes — the Bose are so comfortable!!

  • Wish they had the brown colour, would purchase immediately if they did. The red stitching over the black leather ruins it for me.

    • I got these a couple of weeks ago from Dick Smith ebay, but i got Brown colour for some reason instead of Black so you never
know. You could get lucky with it.

      • Interesting, maybe i should give them a call and findout if brown is available. Cheers.

  • +1

On ears are $124.95 at david jones today. I just saw them at west lakes when I went to get my qc20's

    • +1

You can price match at OW.

  • No disrespect to anyone, Am I missing something, If you look at the store link it is $147 collect. I am not into headphones but I think the store link is for the same headphones.

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/sennheiser-momentum-over-ear-hea…

    • Yes you are…the url says over ear but the description and picture is the on ear.

    • They are on ear. The op has linked to the over ear version

  • Good price, bought it as a pressie for someone.

  • I guess I should count myself a bit lucky, picked up my pair yestersay and the guy gave me the bronze/brown colour pair rather than the black ones. They look much nicer. :)
