  • is that Club + price with the credit? Or straight up price for members? If so, could be cheaper again.

If not, that isn't taking membership price into account.

    • club plus price is for existing members. if you're a new member, it'd be less $5 with your sign-up credit

  • Wonder how this compares to the 132-piece set that was $149 a few weeks ago and now back for $187:

Got a good rap when it was on Ozbargain:

I dont see the value in this one as a toolkit, the items add up to value though. Its a socket set with a handful of spanners (to many spanners missing for them to be reliably useful over time IMO), the sockets being in 1/4 and 3/8 drive. What I dont get is the listed size range in 3/8 6 point, (3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16") youll note they repeat sizes, not sure whats going on there (surely a typo). I would expect after 3/4 to see 13/16, 7/8, 15/16, even up to 1" etc but not that large in a 3/8 drive (some 3/8 sets do have them though). Id prefer 1/2" drive for sockets that size.

I bought the 132 piece set you mention at $149 to carry in the boot on long trips, a lot easier to carry than my toolbox. Its good IMO and at $149 a bargain, probably decent value at $189 too, not so much value over $200, RRP is claimed to be $249.

This set is just a combo 1/4" and 3/8' drive socket set, the spanners are a bonus and no where near complete enough in size range to be useful over the longer term. Personally Id pass on this one even if I didnt have other tools. They had the Stanley 1/2 drive socket set in a tin case the other day for under $70, that was a good buy. Seems they will keep doing these deals, Id wait, the 132 piece is the pick of them IMO.

      Its just an opinion.

      • The repeated sizes is most likely a different drive for the same size range. I.e a 1/4 and 3/8 version of 3/8".

Unlikely. They have 4 lines of socket sizes listed for 3/8, and another 4 lines of sizes for 1/4". Looking at the set, 2 lines for std 6 pt sockets (Met and then Imp), 2 lines for deep 6 pt sockets (Met and then Imp).

Copied and pasted from the site listing.

          3/8"dr 6pt Socket (10mm – 19mm)
          3/8"dr 6pt Socket (3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4", 13/16", 7/8")
          3/8"dr 6pt Socket (10mm – 18mm)
          3/8"dr 6pt Socket (3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16")

Last 3 sizes, of the last line, are the ones that are off.
