  • Of if you're not in a hurry, woolies and coles sometimes have it in their weekly specials 2kg for $7.99

  • +1

A pretty fair bargain - every one of these whiteners are Sodium Percarbonate. Anything else added makes little difference to the action, which is merely to break down in water to Sodium carbonate [ washing soda which sofns hard water and has is a mild alkali] and Hydrogen peroxide [ bleach, or in Adspeak, Oxyaction].

I'd hope no Ozbargainer was buying these full price, as the home-brand equivalents do exactly the same job, but given the price of the pure stuff is usually around $20 a kilo this is a good deal.

    • I used to think they were all same but now I am not so sure. They definitely both say they have same active ingredient but when I used the woolies home brand one it never all dissolved and there would be some powder left on the clothes, even when I decreased the dose. Never happens with napisan. Would like feedback from other people, might try the cheapie again.

      • Hmmm - I never had any trouble with the alternate demonic monopolists [tm] product - it sounds like wollies have more of a sodium carbonate filler maybe…

      • I had a similar issue with the Coles home brand version.

        • Coles don't carry one here - but I did a check, and the vanish pink is 30% Sodium percarbonate, the Foodland [S.A] one about the same , the white Vanish 22% and one particular "organic" one in a green and white box with a lovely picture of a Dolphin was reduced from $13 to %5.50 - for 10%.
Anything added over this, with the exception of sodium carbonate [washing soda] which can be bought separately, are fillers. The sodium bicarb added to some, although a really good and cheap cleaner in itself, is pretty redundant in these mixes
This price is about half price for the active ingredient. People may prefer the prettier packages and the nice added scents, but I have few items of clothing that demonstrate any placebo affect myself :-)
