Toshiba Mini NB200/00D Netbook $392 after $100 Cashback @HN

221

On page 14 of todays Daily Telegraph, Harvey Norman is having in their words a "Mammoth computer sale". The standout for me is the Toshiba NB200 with -
Intel Atom 1.66GHz
1GB RAM
160GB HDD
WIFI
Webcam
10.1 inch screen
Windows XP home

The price at HN is $492 but comes to $392 after $100 cash back
from Toshiba.

For research the model number is - PLL25A-00D002

+1 from me. It may not have as many bells and whistles as the alternative Asus 1002h currently on cotd for $509 (e.g. LED backlit, wifi n, 27.6mm thin, bluetooth, chicklet keyboard)… but for $100 less I think it otherwise has the same capabilities and processor.

link please, your one doesn't work for me :(

      • Okay the cotd one must've sold out. However they do still have the 1000HA for $479, but it's features are more like this Toshiba one and I think it's an older model.

    Hot deal.

Here is the link for Redemption http://www.isd.toshiba.com.au/redemption/r_index.asp

"PLEASE NOTE: Redemptions may take up to 3 months to process from the approval date (with some exceptions - please refer to the specific terms and conditions of your program)."

    • Sadly, 2 to 3 months appears to be normal for cash-back / redemption schemes.
My guess is that they're outsourced to third party businesses who run the scheme on a shoe-string; waiting until all claims are received/processed at the end of the nominated period before paying out in bulk.

      • It's over, but my girlfriend got her ASUS cashback in just a few weeks! :) But yeah, that seems to be the exception

      • "waiting until all claims are received/processed at the end of the nominated period before paying out in bulk."

Yup, a chick at Acer told me that's precisely what they do! I called them when I was buying my P244WB monitor to confirm the extension of the deal at the time & she was quite frank and refreshing! I was lucky enough to put mine in near the end of said period and got the chq in just under 4 weeks! :)

Conversely, a buddy who bought a 19" unit put his in a bit later & it took over 2 months; albeit this was delayed due to some bulk chq stuff-up they notified recipients of by email about a fortnight before the real chq arrived! :p

  • Aussie dollar is strong.

As much as i hate giving business/employment to foreigners, i would recommend ordering one of these from outside Oz on this occassion.

    • Where is the best place to buy electronic goods overseas? I'm not interested in power inverters so I would prefer a country on 240 volts etc…

      • Actually if you read the label on your laptop charger and many other devices it will say something like "input 100-240v", so depending on the kind of electronic goods it's not always an issue.

        • the power inverter is no issue these days. all support 110-220. but i really would like to know about methods to purchase stuff from USA/HK/JAP and does not cost me fortune. I used vpostasia.com several times. anyone knows any better parcel forwarding provider?

Same specs, Toshiba has larger keyboard though. Both are 3 cell batteries.
I bought this Acer one, battery lasts about 3 hours.

Both are great deals!!!! should of waited two weeks for this damn it!!

    • Well that Acer has Wifi N, while this Toshiba doesn't, but this toshiba does have integrated bluetooth.

      • The AOD250 is only Wifi B/G, but no N. So same specs.

  • Just got back from HN Erina, all NB200's gone.

Went to JB Erina, sales person would not do the Acer AOD250 for $421 (minus another $49 CB).Even though its advertised on their website he said "JB and JBOnline are two diff companies unable to price match.

On way home went to Domayne and they only had a display model at $699,push for a discount, wouldn't do it.But they are getting another 20 in the week for $492 (minus another $100 CB).

Is the NB200 on the way out ?
