Even if its unlocked the stock name is different….i got the dse deal for $349 nokia 735 including nokia lumia 530 as bundled offer bought it for parents ….although they could not offer optus $30 prepaid sim card so i missed on that … The nokia lumia 530 is for $40 in woolies but it is locked …. At DSE nokia 530 lumia is $129 and comes free if u buy lumia 735 in a bundle …. $249 applied for myers/coles card now let the games begin…..

  • how does this compare with the Lumia 925 at HN for $295?
edit….well apart from the lack of $100 coles card

  • Microsoft Site : A voucher will be sent out to you within the month.

  • -2

The Good Guys has it for $298, you can try to get HN to match the price.

um, yeah….Harvey Norman are selling for $246 but you want it price matched to $298? I'm sure you'll have no problems.

      • Sorry…I meant for the unlocked standard version, which they currently sell for $345…

        • it's unlocked. you just need to uninstall voda apps if you dont use it.

  • ok, got two for my parent.

Anyone know how to submit 2 claims for the gift voucher, when I only have 1 receipts ?

    • Its only 1 per person,so you should have bought in 2 receipts and made 2 separate claims for 2 persons.

      • Ouch. Will try to ask if they could split the receipt .

        Thanks regenade

  • Can anyone please confirm if it comes with a Vodafone prepaid $30 starter kit inside the box ?

  • Tempted to upgrade my newly purchased 530… I wonder though if I would be disappointed by WP if I were to spend $150. I mean the lack of apps - e.g. citibank, optus etc.

    • +1

If you do find those apps useful, then you would be disappointed.

The new Moto G might be a better buy, considering it has more apps available, and some functionality that simply isn't available on windows phone.

OTOH if you only use your phone as a traditionally phone, then the Lumia might be OK.

I think your spot on. Thanks for the advice.

      • +4

I'd say that you are spot on. I have Lumia 925, it works great, it looks pretty, I personally like it. It really does lack a lot of apps, I am sort of waiting on Windows 10 and hope that would improve it.

I pretty much use it as a cellphone that can access the net, and it works great in that area. Though lack of apps does make me want to move to Android.

Went with the 735. Very nice and a great phone.

Can confirm that it is unlocked. Also came with a fluro orange cover as well as the grey.

Doesn't come with earphones and the charger included is a standard corded charger(even though the phone supports wireless charging).

Impressed for$148 after Coles gift card

Thanks OP. Got one from HN in Knox VIC and there seemed to be 20+ in stock according to staff's terminal. Paid with giftcards got from Ebay during EOFY sale + ING(last month of 5% cashback). Phone unlocked and came with the VF starter pack. Submitted info to MS twice (input wrong receipt number first time; one year passed and the form is just as crude as last year's XB360 promotion :() and let's see how it will turn out. Ordered a replacement nano-SIM from Amaysim. Will apply for another 3-month free skype call when the sim arrives. Not sure what to do with the VF starter pack yet, maybe sell it on ebay? lol

    Cheers,

Salesman said they had sold nearly 40 today at Garden City QLD!

  • Does this phone support the 850 band? Thinking of getting it to upgrade from a 520 and am with Telstra.

  • Very Good Phone just got one yesterday and its unlocked plus with $30 Vodafone starter Kit(nano Sim).

One thing if some one can help, how i am able to track or locate my phone online in case i have lost it. i am looking for "Find My iPhone" Like feature if any available in Windows Phone if yes then how i am able to activate it and use it?

    • just go to windowsphone.com

  • For future info on this phone for Ozbargainers could some who got the phone please comment on how it is. Cheers :)

  • I am hard core Apple fan but this is my first non iOS phone and i had once a basic sony xperia U but andriod sucks, after using this Nokia Lumia 735 i am really impressed i might be wrong but not afraid to compare this phone with iPhone 6 as Screen size is same and resulotion is almost same, just internal storage is 8 GB but with extra up to $16 make you reach to another 64GB easily, Screen is super fast responsive and phone is fast too. Only one draw back is you won't be able to get all the apps and games which you able to enjoy on iOS or android, personally i use Optus TV app on iPhone and all other iOS devices but you cannot have that app on this phone which will be a small bummer. Apart of that this phone is hard core competitor with iPhone 6.

  • i have submitted my claim already, but no email yet, after entering the claim it said gift card will be sent out in a month. has anyone received any email?

    • No email for me either. I find it good practice to take a screenshot with the date and time for these things as a record. Might be a bit late though.

  • Thanks Trent86, bought one from HN…

Great deal, picked up one today. Even without the gift card this is good value. I regularly make purchases for our company phones and I just cant go past mid range windows phones as a value proposition. While they dont seem to last as long as a high end phone, (looking at you lumia 625, 720,) they just work, you put exchange email account there and onedrive and they make an excellent work phone.

I spent 3+ years on WP, now on an iphone 6, I just like to change things around from time to time, (Just couldnt reconcile my LG G3 as an everyday phone and while my 920 lumia was great, the bulk just got too much. I believe the platform is destined to be a emerging market player and only an also ran in the big markets, it's a shame it took MS too long to get their act together, the platform is excellent and is very comparable to ios, just minus the app diversity. I say just, but with the understanding ecosystem is everything in this age.

If you guys have any questions regarding Windows Phone os pm me as I'm a windows phone fanboy :)

    • Is that a lonely existence?

I like WP and bought a 735, but never came across aWP fan boy

  • Anyone knows when the $100 myers card bonus ends

  • -1

Anyone knows when the $100 myers card bonus ends

    • The Terms and Conditions link at the bottom of the gift card info link in the post will tell you.

  • nice phone for sure - great size and thin for pockets - much better in that regard than bulky 920/1020 - bright screen - also it has a removable battery and microSD card so if the 8GB fills you can add more memory - mine had the orange cover or grey

i got extra bargain as there was a mixup with HN so the guy said I could take one for $200 and with extra year warranty - so $100 after cash back - sweet.

  • Applied for my $100 Myer/Coles gift card this evening, after purchase of Nokia Lumia 735 from Harvey Norman. Did not require scan of receipt which was a bit surprising just needed to enter a receipt number along with postal details, purchased online and assume invoice number will do. Seemed a bit too easy? Looking forward to receiving my gift card.

    • +1

I too had applied on 20th the same way you did after buying it from HN (containing free Voda SIM) and yesterday I received the following email from Microsoft:

      Hi there,

Congratulations on purchasing your new Lumia smartphone.

In order to verify your claim can you please send a scanned copy or photo of your receipt direct to this email by 5.1.2015.

Due to the Christmas break, claims will not start to be verified and processed until the week commencing the 5th Jan.

      Thanks and Merry Christmas,

      Microsoft Lumia team

      • Thanks for info Az! I was a bit surprised a scanned image of receipt was not asked for in initial application.

      • hmmm that's interesting I submitted mine on the same day and haven't heard anything back yet.

    • Not that easy for me though. I was applying for my online purchased 735 tonight, however the website kept telling me could not register. Which number did you used as receipt number?

      • I used Harvey Norman Invoice number.

The skype offer is valid for this model. Need to get the skype gift app before 31/12/2014 and use before 31/1/2015.

    • That's nothing new from retailers.

  • I have been pleasantly surprised in the last couple of days of use but I had low expectations. I bought from HN and i received the SIM pack.

I have a few of grumbles but nothing too serious

    1) charging is slow. I have a 2 amp charger and a 1 amp charger and the charger provided in the box is 750ma. It complains when I use the 2A charger saying charging is 'slow' but works fine with the 1A. I have verified the charging speed against an S3 which charges in half the time with the 2A charger.

    2) the project screen/miracast functionality is poor. It disconnects from my Samsung TV after few minutes. I use this to send audio to my stereo because it doesn't have bluetooth. My S3 has no such issues.

    3) I don't think IE is as good as chrome and there is no chrome app for windows phones.

On the plus side the speaker is loud and i like the radio mix app. I am yet to try the satnav.

  • Got this deal. Great phone, but anyone else experiencing random shut downs?

    • Yes. Not sure what's causing it.

  • Sickllama, are you returning the phone? I've already done a hard reset and it still happens, but less frequently. Now trying it without the sim.

    • Yep. Called them yesterday ( 10 days after original purchase) and taking it back tomorrow. The guy said something about it being within 30 days of purchase. I hate it how when things don't work as they should the store people kind of treat you like you're trying to pull one over on them and it's not their fault. Um yep your fault - your site sold me a faulty phone a "sorry about that, lets get this situation rectified" would go along way.

I started making a note of when it does it and everytime I am listening to mix radio. But I listen to mix radio alot, so it could just be the phone. I won't mention that in case they try to get out of it some how. Hoping they have another unit on hand and can just swap it over.

      How about you?

      • I'm going to call them tomorrow and take it back too. It shut down when reading the news, with no sim or storage card in it. Other times, it's happened when rearranging the tiles or just looking at photos. Totally random. I haven't used mix radio yet. Will try it and see what my phone does- it would be good to be able to reproduce the problem. Hoping for a straight swap too.

        • I am hoping so to. They have the Lumia (non-vodafone) for $29X, so hoping that might be an option (with no excess charged to me) if the Vodafone is out of stock.

        • Swapped it over okay. No hassles. They gave me the unbranded 735 (no vodafone apps installed and it comes with a spare green back).

        • How did you go woozie?

        • @sickllama:
Went to Harvey and the guy did a hard reset with the volume and power button and said if it randomly shuts down again, bring it back. He reckons it's different to the hard reset I did from the "about" screen. We'll see…

        • @woozie3:

Sounds like you're getting the muck around a little bit…

          Good luck.

        • @sickllama:

The reset did not fix the problem. They exchanged it with another Voda 735 lumia and it's now been a few days with no random shut downs. Good outcome!

        • @woozie3:

Glad to hear it! No restarts for me either.

  • Has anyone else still not had any contact from Microsoft, I would have thought by now I should have been asked for a copy of my invoice. I purchased on 20th Dec.

    • I submitted application for cash back on 24th December. Have not heard anything from Microsoft. Tried to submit application again to make sure it had gone through and got the following message:-

Sorry, you weren’t able to register.
It seems that we haven’t captured your device purchase information yet. Please try again later after two days. It also might be your phone doesn’t qualify for this offer or you have already claimed the offer.

Looks like original claim was processed.

Might give them a call tomorrow on 1300 366 733 (9to5pm AEST). Maybe they just closed down between Christmas and New Year?

      • I just tried again to double check and that's the message I got too!

        • I submitted the claim last month, no response at all from MS, emailed [email protected] a week ago, also no reply, chat online today, being told [email protected] is the one who does the processing, oh well

    • +1

Got an email today asking for scan of receipt.

I am not sure if this was in response to my email to "[email protected]". Maybe they just closed down until the new year. A well setup campaign should at least email a response to an application using an online form saying that it had been received.

      • Thanks I've emailed them as I've still not heard anything and my claim was submitted before yours.

  • They responded to my email today and asked me to send a scan of my receipt.

  • I got an email today asking for a receipt

  • I got an email yesterday asking for a receipt. Submitted on 21st Dec

  • +1

I got my email asking for the receipt photocopy/photo about a week after submitting, then about another week later I got the confirmation email that they will be sending the Gift Card in the next 2 weeks.

    • Me too. I got the confirmation email with the two week estimate today.

      • +1

        I got one too :)

        • I sent a scan of my receipt 2 weeks ago. The email said it had to be submitted by the 11th. I haven't received a confirmation they received it or processed it. I followed up a couple of days ago but no reply yet
          :-(

  • When this phone comes to getting updates, will the updates come from Vodafone or directly from Nokia?

    • Directly from Nokia server

      • Thank you

  • FYI, I got my gift card yesterday.
