  • Also saw skype gift vouchers in Safeway for 50% in Melb yesterday.

    • they're 50% off at woolies until wed

  • I wonder how the currency conversion will work, how much we going to be charged in Australian $ and how much credit we going to receive.

  • Another we are not able to check out if we dont have US address.

  • Better buy from Woolworths with the same price.

Seems too much currency transaction… AUD -(BUY)-> USD -(BUY)-> AUD

    • Problem is many of the Wooolies have already run out (tried 3 stores today (25 buck ones went fast))

  • Being new to Skype I can't figure what the benefit of paid Skype is.
Can any of you more familiar users *briefly educate me/us?
Tried searching YouTube, couldn't seem to find anything directly relevant.
    Many thanks.

You can use Skype on your PC/iPhone/Android device to call a landline or mobile phone anywhere in the world. In order to do this you need to pay $.

i stopped using skype after getting sick of the terrible lag and calls dropping off. That was several years ago - is it any better now? does using the paid service get you on faster, more reliable servers?

        • Speaking as someone who has only been using the 'free' version of Skype recently, communicating PC to PC has been most impressive.
          Excellent quality, never any lag.

No idea how people who use the paid version phone to phone feel though.

      • I see, so the big difference is the extra ability to call to a 'phone' unit and not only just PC to PC (as I sometimes now do with free version of Skype).

Many thanks for the info jelko.

You can also use the credit to buy a subscription, e.g. for 300 minutes' calls to the UK for one year, or unlimited calls to 50 specified countries for a month.

When you use half-price gift cards to buy a subscription, it usually works out to be a pretty good deal.

    • If you are calling overseas they have Local access number as well, and if you have Unlimited Plans for Local calls you can make International Calls from Mobile/Landline. Unlimited Premium (which includes 50 Countries Unlimited Calls) would cost you $100 annually. With Woolworth discount $50 and you can get one Telstra Prepaid $30 Starter Kit spend extra $10. Why can't just use pennytel? 8c per call to most of places?

  • Not sure how long the promotion is valid for

At least from the emails I've received from Microsoft Store, this promo wasn't supposed to start until 25 December and is finishing on 31 Dec. As it has started prematurely, not sure whether the expiry date is still the same.

  • Is the credit supposed to have an expiry?

I got some Skype credit last time, and after activating and adding to account, it has an expiry date…… Shouldn't credit added to an account last indefinitely, until it's used up??

  • Need to add keyword SKYPE? This offer does not show up in a search using "Skype".
