40% off rapoo products OP :D

  • The DIII bundle looks pretty good, too.

    • Yeah, I wouldn't mind the headset but I just got a spare mouse from this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/175907
Guess I could take this Diablo mouse as my spare and try sell the Dota 2 mouse. Hmm…
If you are wondering why I care so much for a spare mouse is sometimes my main mouse doesn't get recognized on start-up and can take hours before Windows sees it.

      • I always have a spare in case shit breaks. I know if it breaks it would be over public holidays when I actually want to use it.

    • Does it come with a linked EXE?

  • No GPU specials?

  • Great work OP anyone know much about Rapoo Mechanical Keyboards? :P

    • +5

      Avoid.

The V500 uses Kailh yellow switches (Kailh = Cheap Cherry MX Clones from China) and the V700 uses yellow switches apparently made by Rapoo themselves.

Rapoo are not the only company to do this; Razer have some of their own Razer-brand switches in a few keyboards too, but the unanimous consensus is that all of these Cherry MX knock-offs feel like… well, knock-offs. They're a step above rubber-domes to be sure, but there are quality control issues (Cherry's strict manufacturing tolerances maintain the same feel throughout every key on the keyboard. The Kailh switches however can have varying a feel between keys).

      • I like Kailh switches a lot.
I'm on a Thermaltake keyboard with Kailh blue; they're perfectly fine.

for $40? I'd grab the yellows (and will be!)

Even a knock off is worlds better than a membrane.

Huh, the touchpad / numpad idea on this keyboard is a good idea. Wonder how well it works in practice. Shame there aren't any GPU's on sale though. Hopefully SE can oblige.

    • +1

I've got one. The touchpad is horribly insensitive, and I can't right-click. Using it as a numpad is so frustrating that I just use the number row above the letters.

I bought mine maybe 2-3 years ago. Hopefully they've improved on it.

      • I got one of the Rapoo E9080 touchpad keyboards today from MSY.

No problems right clicking, it requires a 3 finger press rather than the two finger press on all other track pad devices. Have you tried a 3 finger press?

The sensitivity of left clicking however is poor. It requires a light tap rather than a standard or heavy press to register, so when I press to click and nothing happens the intuitive thing is to press harder rather than softer, so it's going to take some getting used to.

When using it as a number pad however everything is fine, a light touch or a hard press will activate the key. So it's a bit of a shame that the sensitivity for the trackpad is better when using it as a number pad.

Pointer tracking is OK. It has nothing on a Macbook, but it's about the same as other devices in the class. It's built really solid. It's about twice the weight of my Apple bluetooth keyboard.

Gestures are so far really poor. I was thinking I could pinch to zoom, use two fingers to scrub through video playback or use it for multitasking as other track pads can, but no. Only two fingers to scroll or a 3 finger tap to right click. There's nothing else.

Overall I'm happy with it for $26. I already prefer it over my Logitech K400, but that's because I've always preferred scissor action keys over the chicklet membrane style such as the K400. It's not something I would want to use day in day out, but it's a great HTPC remote.

If MSY is doing "sales" these days, which they never used to do, does that mean their general pricing has been increased and they are no longer the go-to computer store for things? Like Umart and some others typically are?

    • +1

Can't say I've noticed any of their regular prices going up. Not that hard to check for yourself however. In general stores like Umart are still a dollar or two dearer, though they are getting much faster at matching.

    • Nope, its only sales on import products and companies who reimburse them.

      Dont stress over it :)

  • Thx OP - Ive had my eye on that Nighthawk R7000 router for the last few days - just too lazy to go into OW to pricematch one - now dropping to $169 - looks like il be in there Friday ;)

    • Teamed up with DD-WRT this router cant' be faulted. And a fantastic price. Highly recommended!!

  • Hi is the Netgear RN31600-100AJS ReadyNas 316 6-Bay Diskless Desktop Network Attached Storage ANY GOOD or not worth that kind of money

  • What monitor would be the best value for around 300 dollars? It would be used for gaming

    • MSY is advertising ex demo 24GM77 for $299. I picked one up from their Clayton store a few weeks ago. It was in its original packaging and looked brand new. It even still had the protective plastic on the base and monitor. I asked and it comes with full warranty.

A fantastic monitor for gaming being 144Hz with a strobe backlight to eliminate motion blur. $500 new.

  • That LG Ultrawide curved monitor for $1,299…
must be awesome to play games on… but I am out of league :(

    http://www.msy.com.au/viconline/peripherals/14633-lg-ips-34-…

    • Awesome, but a gimmick I never remember anyone needing/asking for.

      • LinusTechTips gave it a glowing review.

    • +2

I don't really care if it is curved or not but i want a double width monitor to play my games on so ill probably be getting this monitor in the morning before I go to a boxing day lunch. I dis the usual static ice type searches and the cheapest is about $1650 so $1300 is not bad.

      • +1

there is a non-curved variant that is cheaper, but i don't know if it is on special

      • FYI, got this price matched at Harvey Norman for $1,299. Went with some mates and we ended up getting three of them all up. Cost price from memory was $1,284 on the HN system.

One of my mates had a dead pixel so got it swapped for a new unit with no issues (except for having the inconvenience of packing the monitor up and driving back etc). Imagine if that was MSY? :-)

As this was HN, we used our CC's with no issues etc. We didn't check to see if places like Officeworks had such high end monitors but right now I'm loving it.

  • I wouldn't mind a Define R5 on sale…

  • Can anyone give me some advice on the best deal for a 21-24 inch monitor? Will only be used as a second screen for university

    • Get any 23" IPS Monitor. The Samsung PLS 23" (for $149) seems good. It has a glossy screen so that might not suit Uni work. My pick would be to just go to gumtree/ebay and find a good 23" Dell IPS monitor for $150. Something like a U2312.

      • Thanks! I'll have a look.

beware of MSY. my friend who used to work for awhile in MSY claimed that when customers return faulty parts, sometimes they repackage it and re-sell to new customer. very irresponsible

    • Has been happening forever. Nothing new. They charge a repacking fee too.

      • +1

For faulty stuff? no they don't.

Dont blanket the store for one bad dealing.

Morningside store, for example, is the bees knees of useful staff, 'geek respect' and customer trust (once you prove you know what you're on about).
        Recommend 100%

  • Anyone know what time they are going to drop the rest of the prices?

  • Steelseries Diablo headphones, mouse and mousepad pack for $99 pickup or +shipping, 1 dollar cheaper

    https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&…

  • Are they actually going to lower the online pricing?

    • i was wondering the same thing.. waiting for dat 30% off the powerbanks.

  • any idea when they close today in Vic??? Their link to xmas hours doesnt load….

  • Prices have been updated BUT only after you go to your cart, they are the same on the product page.
