    • +8

      lol in your face

  • Any reviews? These speakers are tiny…6cm x 6cm x 6cm (approx). I can't imagine a deep resonating sound coming from these! Has anyone heard the quality.

Good price if decent quality sound.

    Thanks

  • Would these be better sound wise compared to moshi double bassburgers? The batteries on my moshi are dying and im looking for a suitable replacement

2 reviews at http://www.amazon.com/HP-S6000-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp… if that counts for anything…

Don't bother reading. Summary: a 1 star review; two DOA units, a 5 star review; two great units.

Summary: if it's not branded HP, we'd be looking at a GearBest deal. And $18 for unknown sound quality? PPPPPPassed

  • Nokia makes a better one but costs more. naturally

Nothing good value can come out of this chain of stores, ever. Naturally.

    • You can't even buy these outside microsofts online store. I'd take ue mini booms any day.

how to sell crap speakers to the public? make them wireless and they will buy anything

    • +1

Well these are nowhere near ue mini booms, but not bad to carry anywhere and better than the $6 ones off ebay with no BT. 'Crap' speakers have their place if priced correctly, at their normal price they are crap but at $18 it's a different story. Perhaps test one and give us your price / performance verdict .

  • At least they would sound better than the crappy speakers on HP laptops

  • +1

I bought one yesterday. The packaging is a bit like a puzzle to open.

Can you give us your thoughts on sound quality when you get a chance? I might grab a couple of they are half decent.

      • Bought one this morning and like the poster a few posts down I was quite happy with the performance given its size and current price. Although the original marked price is 49.95 the HN salesman said it would go up to $38 from next week.

I wouldn't pay $38 for it but at $18 it's not a bad buy. Highs can be shrill if pushed even a bit, midrange is surprisingly ok and no real bass as you would expect although again it's not bad for the size. Build quality is excellent. Packaging is a challenge to remove the thing (tip: the speaker slides out of the base when you remove the halves, it can't be just pulled out)

My verdict, well I tested it in the car and went back in to get another!

It's good for $18 but I wouldn't spend any more on it. One reason is it doesn't have any volume control on it.
Mind you I have speaker docks on both sides of my bed and a BT speaker in my shower so I probably have enough.

    • LoL there are opening instructions are printed on the back of the cardboard label that goes around the base of the packaging.

  • Can I return it or it's too late.bought it roughly 3 weeks ago for $28 which I thought was cheap when it was on sale.

    • I haven't opened it by the way incase it becomes cheaper over the Boxing Day period.

I'm still using the Rounded $68 Sony speakers.

  • Can you peopple who have bought it shed some light on the quality? Cheers.

  • Nice. Thanks leetec.

Just got mine this morning and the sound quality is very good for the size of the speaker, no distortion unless you push the volume too high. Listing to the free Kelly Clarkson album from Google Play Music thanks to OzBargain through the speaker and am impressed by the sound quality for the size of the speaker, definitely not tinny. Recommended.

    • "Listing."

So is it tilting over to one side?

This sony one from Harveys also looks pretty cool for a lowish price. Recommendation? http://www.harveynorman.com.au/headphones-audio-music/sound-…

  • They look very similar to my generic BT speaker I bought from China that identifies as S05 that I got about 6 months ago. They were $7 equivalent when I was in shenzhen and you could get them with any brand you like ;-)

The sound is pretty good if you don't push the volume was surprising. $18 I'm not so sure. $7 yes. Mine had a 3.5mm, BT and microSD inputs.

    • Did a quick search for S05 bluetooth speakers and this is HEAPS better than your cheap $7 Beats BT speakers ;)

  • Just tested 30 mins ago. Sound quality is alright . You really cannot expect much out of the $18.
However, I found the sound coming out more dimensional (forgive me if not the right word) compared to my iPad air. The sound comes out my iPad is flat.

    • That's because "superior soundscape" is one of it's features!

  • Can it be used as a speakerphone? This is something that appeals about the sony alternative

    • You may be able to use it to hear the caller and use your phone as the mic. I can't test it til tomorrow sorry.

    • What is the Sony one that you are talking about?

  • I bought two today and pleased with the sound. A bit static ish when turned up full volume but doesn't get in the way of enjoyment. Great small, portable size for the price and sound.

  • Picked a purple one up from HN Gordon. Sound quality is excellent!

They also had a few orange ones as well.

    Bargrin!

  • Still managed bought one today for $18 even the web site said $28 now.
