Are the Extras, Long Time or Short Time?

Hehe! Said like a true Thai 'lady of the night'

        • Obviously a lot of people don't get it. "Up to You" is a common expression used in Thailand.

Deal seems decent enough. $1000 is common enough price just for the airfare if u dont get in on a deal months in advance (although most oz bargainers would pay around half or less).

The resort and room looks pretty and good. To put it in perspective, I usually pay about $30 a night for a boutiquie hotel room in other parts of Thailand (Phuket, Chang Mai etc).

When Ive booked the odd night in a resort (Railay, and Phuket) it has usually cost $100 give or take.

Ko Yo Noi is a very nice peacful island. When I visited I think I only stayed 3 or 4 days, which was more than enough time to familiarize myself with the place. I stayed in average bungalo style accom which is the way I prefer to see Thailand.

The bottom half of the island is populated by Thais with small villages dispersed along the road that loops this part of the island. In my stay there were very few tourists, and just the odd places here and there catering specifically for them, bars, restaurants and such.

Of course there is local markets with wares etc.

You can circumnavigate the lower half of the island in about half an hour on motor bike, and some of the views are fantastic.

When I was there a few years back, to get the the northern parts of the island and the resort etc, u need to charter a boat, or ride your scoorter for about half an hour through some fairly dodgy dirt roads. An adventure in itself.

So it's not a party island like Phi Phi, but there is some good recreation to be had in the form of rock climbing, kayaking, and muay thai camps, and what ever else the resort has on offer (prob some day trips etc).

Having said that u are not stranded here, you could easily work out the ferry timetables to factor in day trips to Ao Nang, Phi Phi or Railay, and if you wanted to stay the night a decent room at a decent price can be found with a bit of ground work.

Prob a good deal for people who like spending alot of time in a resort, chilling at the bar or at the beach, with a few activities around to keep you busy.

Just be aware that you will most likely be paying more for grog and food at the resort than most likely anywhere else on the island, and if u want to get away from the resort, it's a rather exciting 30 mins on the bike on some steep mud clay that cover some steep territory.

not really a bargain. too many conditions. carry on luggage?

return flight to phuket can be had for $500 or less. so thats $1000 a pair. you can choose your hotel and when and where to spend the other $1000 on.

    • As per the fine print:

Flights provided by Air Asia X depart Syd, Melb or Gold Coast and include luggage with 1 piece of carry on luggage per person

Air asia that's a killer (no pun intended)

Air Asia is ok as long as its not flying over Indonesian waters.

  • If you took any notice of some of the (profanity) here, you would believe that every second Air Asia flight was crashing.

Seems like a reasonable deal to me.

  • Stayed there 4 years ago and the resort is decent but keep in mind that they tend to be understaffed in the low season when the specials apply (May-Oct). If you don't mind slow service then this sounds like a good deal from the east coast.
