Sounds like a good deal, but I'll probably reserve judgement www.coles.com.au/cereals comes online for the T&Cs. Also, although 65,000 sounds like a lot, if this is an Australia-wide (or even if it's just NSW, SA and ACT as per the promo permit numbers), I suspect the 'refund' gift cards will go very quickly.

  • How do you prove your purchase? Bar code number? Can someone post the bar code? ;)

    • Need your barcode, receipt number & purchase date (as well as all your personal details + what colour underwear you were wearing at the time; see below).

  • Looks like the catalogue was from Brisbane from the "Qld-Metro" printed on the page.

  • How do they know only cereal bought on Thurs and not beforehand is valid? XD

Unless there's new stock with a code on the inside of the box pushed only on Thursday..hmm..

    • I guess it's a new product line that only goes on sale this Thursday? I haven't seen these cereals before at Coles.

      • I saw them on the shelves when I shopped last week (Wed - in SA)

        • Yeah, the Honey Crunch has been on sale in SA in that box since AFL Grand Final weekend at least..

  • Pre-emptive refund? Full of confidence, aren't they?

More supermarket branding crap. More stuff they release under woolworths or coles name, more things are being pushed out of supermarket. Pretty soon everything in coles or woolworths will be a supermarket branded item. Example Coles bread, woolworths milk etc. When it comes to variety we Australian are screwed.

    • This is so true..
I rarely buy at the Big 2.. As evidenced by the fact I remember shopping on Grand Final Day and buying Coles Cereal in this box (see my comment above).
Similarly I don't buy Petrol at Coles/Woolworths much nor do I shop at Bunnings if i can help it.

    • can't help but thinking current affairs programs are to blame for these things.
they lauded the arrival of Aldi, demonising the big two for inflated prices…
although slightly true, the only reason aldi is so cheap is that pretty much everything comes from overseas.. besides some token items to prevent backlash.
so coles and woolies, in the name of profit, did the same thing. giving us less choice.
now the current affairs programs are crying foul, that we should support australian goods.
      damn you tracey grimshaw!!

      • "Globalisation" is the cause..
The majority of goods in Coles and Woolies are still Australian made. I work for a food manufacturing company which relies on generic brand products, but we make little to no profit on those lines..
Continuously, costs are being passed from retailer back to manufacturer.
The current practice is to demand "shelf-ready" cartons so stock filler just open the carton and plonk it on the shelf.
The carton has to be attractive, easy to open and easy to determine the product inside.
Attractive cartons cost more money, easy open pre-cuts cost more money and fancy designs to allow customers to easily see inside the carton are expensive to licence..

        • Exactly - these generic brands are mostly australian made, just that they make little to no profit for the australian manufacturer. Also no brand loyalty so that if that manufactuer decides to raise prices, coles etc are free to go to another manufactuer and still call it "coles" product.

problem is if you dont even want that kind of buisness, coles etc will be free to take their buisness overseas too. Somes lines like tuna and tinnned tomatoes are already from overseas. I think aldi did advertise that 90% of their goods were made in australia. The only thing I remember that wasnt was the tuna and tomatoes and also the peanut butter.

      • Coles and Woolworths sell more overseas crap under their generic brands than Aldi do.

    • But this is introducing more variety for the time being! I doubt they'll ever become Aldi with all home brands.

  • it's gone…Page Not Found

    • Read ^^.

The site hasn't gone live yet.

      • That page isn't up but the links are below.

  • So how many boxes of cereal can be claimed:

    1. per receipt?
    2. per household?

i remember the last coles 5$ card promotion for continental soup, was limited to 2 claims per household, but you could claim with the same receipt twice if you bought enough soups.

Also says first 100,000 entries only, not 65k as listed in the submission.

      • Good spotting, very interesting.

  • Bought this morning and claimed.

    • How much are they going for?

      • I saw the Right Start cereal and the Honey Cornflake type (Can't remember the name)at coles this morning and they were both $4.99 each, So I guess your getting a free box of cereal at the end of the day.

        • Yeah, most are $4.99 with varying sized boxes. The Cocoa Puffs were $4.49.

          • @modsec802: Fruit Loops or whatever the hell they call them are $3.99 at my store. That $1.01 profit right there!

        • Funny thing is the Right Start (traditional) is 560g, and the T&C says "Right Start 600g"…hrm. I guess you could have claimed on your Cornflake anyway, heh. XD

I think everybody should know that the conditions have been changed to:

    Only three(3) claims per household.

much more worthy of everybody's time. i think you can get all three boxes on the one receipt, but need to enter them separately into the form.

    • Thanks have updated deal.

  • Interesting deal,
They only ask for receipt number and cereal barcode for the rebate. Cereal barcode should be the same nationwide. Receipt number for my Coles (a busy one usually) is 4 digits long so I don't see how they verify receipt numbers as they must overlap between stores.

    Also,
    Honey Crunch: Made in Germany
Cocoa Puffs: Made in New Zealand
Right Start, Fruit and Fibre: Made in New Zealand

They ask for both the receipt number and date of purchase. That can be used to cross-check with register records.

Yeah true but my receipt # was #15XX on a Sunday. I would imagine there would be 1 for each store (740 locations) in Australia. I'm wondering whether they are checking at all, where adding store # to the claim form they would be able to check 100%.

        • Post the barcode and I'll give it a try ;)

  • Purcahsed and claimed two. Only received one $5 card so far…

  • Purchased and claimed three and only received two as of last Wednesday. Might have to give them a nudge next week if it doesn't show.

  • Sorry to bring up an old thread but has anyone received their gift cards. Haven't received anything. Trying to figure out, how and where to complain to.
