Thanks ! Notice Saver (31 days) seems to be the best rate (3.65% pa) ?

Is this that Rabbobank with iPads to offer to open the account that they failed to honor ?

Would not trust these guys and will not waste my time this time.

    • I received my iPad. :) Will give this promotion a go as well.

  • +1

    Another Rabofail ;)?

  • put the promo code in the post please

  • +4

Worth a shot. Worst case scenario I've wasted 5mins.

    • And around $3.5 lost in interest

      • +9

Incorrect. $0.71 of interest, being the differential between 4% (ING) and 3.15% with rabobank.

  • Can I purchase anything of material substance with this?

    • +3

      Yes. Poor life choices.

  • Anyone know whether they perform a check on your credit file for this?

    • +1

I could be wrong, but I thought that only credit card applications went on your credit file (not normal bank accounts).

      • Not sure what it really means but see quote from my application process "nor could we verify you using credit information"

    • No credit check required. However, they probably check credit records to make sure you are who you say you are (for Anti Money Laundering and terror financing laws). They just wont be interested in your credit score for a deposit account.

  • After the online application you will need to send them a "Certified copy of an original Passport or Drivers Licence" via post.

    edit Sorry only me. :)

"As one of the world’s safest banks we take security very seriously so we verify the details you give us in the account opening form against a number of databases (such as the electoral roll and White Pages). Unfortunately, we couldn’t identify you using these details, nor could we verify you using credit information. But all is not lost! We’re ready and waiting to open your shiny new RaboDirect account and all you need to do is send certified copies of your identity documents (eg passport or driver’s licence)."

  • Application submitted, did not get asked for any personal documentation.

Can you stack apple gift vouchers in one transaction?

    • +2

I'd be interested to know this too. Planning to buy an ipad in the near future, so getting some family members to collect the gift cards.

      • Can you use iTunes gift cards at the Apple Store? I've tried to find out and it looks like they are different

  • u you buy apple hardware like ipad?
and use it at apple store?

  • Done, now lets see if they honour the promotion this time.

How much "stock" do they have?

  • +1

How easy is it to close an account with these guys?

    • I would like to know this as well….

      • Found a form to to this but not sure if it ends your business with them or just closes an account.

  • How do I close my RaboDirect account?
To close your Rabodirect account you will need to fill in the 'Account Closing form' and post to:

    RaboDirect
    GPO Box 4715
    Sydney NSW 2001

    or fax to: 1800 121 615
or scan and email to [email protected]

    • Will that remove you as a customer from their records? Ie. Internet banking account also closes.

Need this to happen to take advantage of the next promo lol

      • As a customer, I would expect so or they need to notify to me in account closure confirmation letter.

      • No, it will not, all banks are keeping records for years

Can you use this gift card to buy Apps in the app store?

Is that the same as the apple online store?

Or can you only buy marked up physical products?

  • What a good deal… effectively 10% interest in a month!

    • +3

…only if you value Apple gift cards the same as cash.

      • +4

Yes :-) An Apple gift card wouldn't be worth much to you unless you were likely to spend money with Apple.

        • -3

I am going to buy couple of Apple TVs and sell it in ebay :)

        • -2

@expertreader: so what is wrong with what I said? Signed up wife and I, so should get $200 of voucher.

  • +1

If you have a Westpac account don't bother. Rabo would not let me link any of the 4 Westpac accounts I have which is a mandatory to deposit the money.

    • +1

Both uBank & ING failed for me too :(

      • +2

My ing everyday account worked. Savings maximiser doesn't

    • My Westpac acc worked.

  • Do you have to deposit on sign up or can you do it with the "verify Account" thing?

    • Didn't have to deposit anything. You can choose the option " I Will so it later" during signup.

  • got asked to send in doc! Is it cause I didn't give them my TFN?

    • Don't think so, I used my TFN and still got asked to send in doc!

  • +2

Sweet deal, thanks for the heads up! Got all my family members to sign up (I just did it for them and gave them the $1000 ea) - $500 of Apple gift cards for me :)

  • Hi,

Is it mandatory to send the documents to the below address or is there any online system where we can submit?

    RaboDirect

  • I've got an email from them

Please login to your RaboDirect account online and select My details to be taken to the My Messages section to view the message we have sent you.

But I still haven't received my login details!

Edit: Okay I was silly. The details get sent out by post.

  • I've just completed the application, but in my instance it's opened two accounts:
    - High Interest Savings Account
    - Premium Saver Account

Does it matter into which account the $1000 balance needs to be held?

EDIT: Just spoke to Rabo's call centre…apparently it doesn't matter as long as its a RaboDirect account

  • +1

I just opened High Interest Saving account but I haven't got any confirmation or email from them yet. Is it normal?

  • My account was opened immediately with no request to send documents

  • It's been taken down

  • i got my welcome pack today, transferred $1000 into the new account. now just wait for gift voucher to arrive in March.

  • I signed up on 20/1/15 and haven't sent in my documents yet. How do you know if you were in time for the offer?

  • and have to have docs signed by Jp or similar to certify docs

  • Completed application on 15th, but went away on holidays before their welcome pack arrived.

Got back today and went through the motions. All I can say is, if this is an example of how the rest of this outfit is run, I'll be closing my account as soon as I have the e-voucher. Transferred my $1000. Just hope I can get it back out again.

    • What exactly is your beef with how they're run?

  • Anyone got the giftcard yet?

    • Nope, anyone else?

  • Nope. Should someone try and attain it?

  • It says 10 working days from the time you satisfy conditions. So I reckon we've got 2 more weeks before we can complain.

    • ok

  • Hm… So it's being 1 month + 2 weeks since I've deposited into that Rabo Direct account. Should we start calling up?

    • Even if your $1000 transfer took place (and posted to your RaboBank account) the day this deal was posted, it still hasn't been 30 days at minimum balance plus 10 business days. I'd give at least them til the end of the week.

  • +7

guys! I have emailed them to ask and this is the reply I got.

    Thanks for your email.

For customer that have satisfied the requirements to receive the $100 Apple gift card, they will start to be posted out to customers in the first week of March.

If you require any further assistance, please give us a call on 1800 445 445, Monday to Friday, 8am-7pm AEST.

    Thanks

    • -1

So after lowering the rate to 2.75% shortly before people hit the 30 days and giving you in writing that they'll send out the cards within ten business days after you kept your money there for 30 days, it's first week of March now? I guess I'll pass on promotions from Rabo from now on.

      • -1

This deal was posted on January 14th. IF you applied AND completed a $1000 transfer on the day the deal was posted (including the money showing up in your Rabo account, which usually takes 2-3 business days), then your 30 days was up on February 13th. 10 business days from then is today.

So yes, if you joined this promo as soon as it went live and have the fastest banking skillz ever, perhaps they have delayed your compensation by a couple of days. Boo hoo. Consider the fact that they may have been overwhelmed by applicants and cut them some slack.

And interest rates were cut concurrent with the RBA rate cut. Every bank with variable rate products cut their interest rate.

I'm sure your "business" won't be missed if you don't take advantage of future promotions. The forgone interest (Rabo rate compared to another high interest account) is about $1.00. Some people are unbelievably ungrateful.

  • Good to know,thanks!

  • Anyone got a call for different offer? I opened account on 15th but didn't send documents until 20/01. They called me to ask on about 29th if I am happy to receive gold class movie tickets / free wine / free magazine subscription for 6 months as I'll be too late for transferring money to Rabo account but with above option they will extend time frame to deposit money for 5 days.

I am not sure if it was good customer service or they did not open my account until 29/01 purposefully to refrain from sending me $100 voucher.

  • Will wait and see what happens

  • Still waiting for the Gift Cards…How about anyone else?

  • Yeah I haven't received an email yet either seems like we might be waiting till the end of the week to know.

  • Completed trifecta.

    Got nothing for this.
Got nothing for the age subscription - good food $40.
Got nothing for the Schick cashback

  • +1

Got my $100 Apple gift card today via e-mail. Number/pin to use online, or print out to take into store. Now to move my $1000 back to uBank and close the account :)

  • +1

Got my $100 apple gift card a couple of hours ago too, same with my wife. Was in spam folder in gmail, lucky my wife told me about it :)

  • Glad to see that people are getting the gift cards :). Just wondering for those who got them today what was the first day you had your money in the account? just trying to see when I might get mine. I opened my account on 14th but $1000 didn't get transferred in till 22nd.

    • +1

My $1000 was there on the 15th. My wife took a couple more days because they wanted a mail-in package for her ID - she's not got her gift card yet.

      • ok thanks for the info :)

  • Still waiting…

  • Got mine. It was in spam folder as well (gmail). Thanks

    • Yep, mine in spam too!

      • what was the title of the email?

        • +1

          "Your Apple e-gift card"

        • @Rookie117: Thanks.. I wouldn't have miss that one! Patience…

  • Got mine sitting in the spam folder too, thanks :)
My wife has't got hers yet though - was about a week after me until she deposited the money in to the account.

    • What day did you deposit and what day did you get the voucher?

  • When do we know this expires?

    • It says in the email that there is no expiration date.

    • From RaboDirect rep:

"There is no official expiry date on the Apple e-Gift Card, however we would recommend you use them within 12 months."

  • Got mine yesterday, thanks OP!

  • Got the feeling I'm not getting one. :(
