full kudos goes to Hamza23 for this deal.

Following this FMAB post for replacement batteries Hamza23 posted this comment-

The Amazon deal just dropped by almost $10 today randomly!

It caught my eye randomly on a google adsense ad. It's now US $40.77 instead of US $49.99

I checked camelx3 to make sure and it's the cheapest ever by far.

Works out to US $49.50 shipped, came to AU$60.89 for me through 28 degrees or AU $62.90 if you let Amazon convert it.

I think for $60.89 for the 2, it's better than $86.90 from AU, shipping won't take too much longer and they'll probably cover return postage for a warranty claim within 30 days so only missing out on a bit of warranty.

I'm purchasing now.

I grabbed one as well. awesome price. the title is "from AU$60.89 Delivered" as it dependent on your payment method

  • How long was it before your Neato batteries started sucking?

mine has been 9 months. however I bought a refurb unit - so batteries may have been old already. and was away for a month so the unit didn't charge -which can cause issues.

others have reported getting 2 years out of their batteries.

      • Cool, thanks.

I've had the refurb for about a year too and haven't noticed the battery not holding enough charge to be annoying yet.

I bought my xv-21 new in November 2013. I think after about 10 months battery life became a serious issue, it got down to about the 20 minute mark per cycle and started finishing before it had completed the house. I would typically run neato once a week

It was previously doing 40-50 minute cycles and would finish the house on the third cycle, now it does 20 minute cycles and still finishes on the third cycle despite usually 3 or 4 rooms not being done. I wouldn't really care that it only did 20 or so minute cycles, if it actually finished the whole house, even if it took 8 or so cycles. Firmware upgrades, battery recalibration etc didn't help in the slightest.

    • Sometime between 2 and 3 years. Was down to about a 15 min runtime. I replaced them with the 3800mAh ones from an AU ebay seller, now getting 90+ mins.

If you wanna go all out on new batteries, vic is selling his 4400mAh Li-Ion battery packs here

I found updating the firmware improved battery life significantly. Would highly recommend Neato too if you are after a robo vac.

    • same here.

  • Mine was a refurb unit and the batteries only lasted 8 months. Now with new batteries it has lasted over 12 months and still going strong. Bought these for later, just cost me $62.98AU

  • Looks like 16x 18650 batteries, assuming they are a well known brand and a decently high mAH rating then this is a cheap way to get extra batteries too.

    • yeah, that's what I originally assumed and was going to rebuild/build my own. however, according to various forums, the neato is very sensitive to batteries so that you need to acquire specific ones. something to do with the onboard battery management system + voltage + wattage (and maybe lasers).

that being said. when my new batteries arrive I will disassemble the old ones and buy some inexpensive but decently high mAH rating batteries and see how it goes.

anyone else look at this deal and think V Cans? :P

  • batteries arrived today. .

    • Mine came yesterday, charged it overnight and it's on it's first run now :)

    • Forgot to reply early. New batteries are fantastic!

It lasted a ridiculous 92 minutes on the first cycle before returning to base for charging for 136 minutes, on the second cycle it went for 33 minutes and stopped as it had finished the house (with over half the battery still left). Previously it was getting 20 minutes a cycle and after 3 cycles it was saying it had finished the house when it hadn't even done a few rooms, today it did every room at least once over didn't miss a thing.

I didn't even get close to 92 minutes when I purchased it new, maybe half of that usually, despite these batteries appearing to be the same as what came with it. This is way better than it was even when it was new, should've done it sooner.
