cool. i didn't know that. thanks.

  • Thanks OP

Also of note, Canon Copy Paper 80gsm reams for $3.99, picked up a box of it with the order of a printer.

    • +3

Gonna be expensive paper when they cancel the printer and just send a ream of paper for $15 shipping :p

  • Thanks OP. Bought one!

  • A shame i bought a laser print just last month

    • +2

I found mine on the street. New toner for 7.50 and Bam!

  • +2

You can get cheap wifi network bridges that connect directly to the network port if you're really dead set on wireless.

    • any idea how much and where?

      • +1

TP-Link TL-WR702N can do this - available from MSY for $22. Configure it as a wireless client i.e. it connects to your existing wireless network and connect the printer to its Ethernet port.
See klumsybot's post above for more advanced options.

        • thanks a lot mate, didnt know these existed…wonder if we can power that thing via the printer (usb), rather than hooked up to the power point?

  • awesome thanks OP. I have been looking up eBay for a laser multifunction between $100 - 150
    bought one. cheers

  • Does it use an optical sensor or chip sensor for the toner?

I need a multifunction without the toner chip so I can tape the sensor over when it 'runs out' of toner. Getting great mileage from two old Brother mono's with the included toner, still crisp one after 5 years the other 7 years, been through several reems already on standard print settings. Got a Samsung that 'ran out' of toner so fast, had a chip so this piece of garbage is just collecting dust.

    • You check ebay for chips?

  • +1

We used to have one of these at work. It ran well with no issues. One thing I always look for in a MFP is scan to email (not scan to email client) where it emails the scan to whoever you want.

This MFP doesn't or at least didn't have that feature. You can easily scan to USB or straight to PC if it suits you. Scan to email works best when different users constantly access the machine

    • Can this do double side scanning without human interaction with two pass?

      • I didn't need to do this while we had it so can't confirm sorry. I doubt that it could, you would have to use the flat bed for that I think.

  • I was actually looking at getting a laser printer recently! Anyone know if this or the Samsung SL-M2070FW is better by any chance? Similar price ($135 at MSY) and has NFC built in

    • No print duplexing and toner yield is only 1,000 pages, so it will cost you more in the long run.

If you're keen on a Samsung, check out:
      http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/print-solutions/print-mul…

Officeworks will beat MSY by 5% (friend did it the other day), so it came to just over $200. Extended warranty (3 years total) was only $27 as well with OW.

    • +2

I'm surprised it would let you put that many in the cart without popping up a "uh hey do you really want 6000 printers?" message.

  • +1

Great price. Is there any advice for laser color MFP with wireless?

  • +1

    Thanks OP bought 2!

I have been looking for laser multi functions for too long. I finally gave up and bought 3 of https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/176083 these from the other day. If anyones interested I am happy to sell one of them for $37.90 which is what I paid. Pickup in Glen Waverley 3150.

    • Still available? I can pickup tmr or sunday.

  • +1

    Ordered - thanks OP!

The $99 is a clearance price on the OfficeMax website so seems legit.

Kinda annoyed that Canberra is considered rural though - we are the capital after all :)

  • Some favourable and not so favourable reviews here:-
    http://www.amazon.com/HP-LaserJet-M1536dnf-Multifunction-Pri…

    One review reports:
The printer is shipped with the ubiquitous "starter" cartridge - I got 690 page prints with default darkness and quality selected from the starter.

Looks like a good deal. Thanks OP.

    • +2

Remember that reviews are written relative to price, that Amazon link indicates at least some of those reviewers paid $290 USD - I'm sure I'd expect more for a device that set me back AU $350 vs $115 delivered.

  • +1

Just did some research and discovered that this printer supports AirPrint, so if you connect it via ethernet you can print directly from your Apple devices.

  • Thanks OP order1!

  • +1

I want one… but my old (really old) Brother MFC is still going alright and I have 2 other printers.

The ozbargainer force is strong with this printer lol at least I could write it off as a business expense :/

    • hmm after reading the reviews I can live without one.

      • -1

my hp multifunction inkjet prints pages in a random order…
        reset, reinstall driver no use…hopeless.

  • got a 5 yr old cannon multifunction printer (print+scan) plus a brother wireless dup printer…
but this price is a good deal. even though i had bad experience with HP products in the past..

  • Do you guys know how long they will take to deliver it? I am in Adelaide

  • Too many people bought now I'm worry they don't have enough stock

  • Thanks for posting this awesome deal.

    Just ordered one.

    Cheers

  • +1
    • Argh… I regret bought this HP

      • -2

        No, you won't.

You can resell this on gumtree or ebay for twice the price after the deal ended.

    • Doesn't do duplex printing though

    • anyone knows why that hp's is better than this samsung?

      • +1

        HP DNF=Duplex Network Fax
        Samsung FW=Fax Wireless

Networking is handy so you can connect the printer to your router and then all PC can print/fax to it as if it was directly atteched.

Choose whatever is more important to you

      • +1

In addition to what gummibear has said, toner is cheaper for the HP - it's $18 for 2100 pages for the HP and $31 for 1500 pages for the Samsung.

    • This has ADF. Awesome for scanning all those old piles of documents you can't quite chuck away.

Wireless isn't really a must have. You can connect the printer via ethernet to your wireless router / wireless router, and print wirelessly. Wireless on the printer only really matters it it is impractical to plug in a cable.

  • I use my $9 DELL V520 for scanning, fax and the odd colour print, and I use my $28 Brother HL-2132 for regular use(2yrs old, 1000's of prints). I have another HL-2132 in reserve, best purchase ever.

  • -2

this thing has wifi doesnt it?

    • +1

      No

  • It doesn't support A3, hard to use in office

    • +1

In fairness I doubt you will find an A3, duplexing, multifunction laser printer with networking for $100, and most of the reviews suggest it's more suited for either a home user with heavy printing requirements or a small office.

      • Nice reply douglas.

        You just can't please everyone.

      • Don't get me wrong, it is a good one that I purchased 2 years ago and used at home. However for office use, lack of A3 support is an issue, especially when you are engaged in designer work. is there budget Mono Laser Multifunction printer supporting A3 to recommend? Many thanks.

  • Is this a coloured printer and how much is a toner?

  • +1

I have been thinking about getting a laser printer one day, because they are so much better than my inkjet for text and I print photos at Office Works way better and cheaper than my inkjet ever could. So the inkjet just sits there, not even sure if I could sell it?

But I never thought I could get a laser this cheap, so I bought one late last night and it's on it's way. When I saw people posting links for cheap toner cartridges (I think some of them were even genuine HP?) I decided to go for it! I hope I wont be disappointed.

    Thanks :)

    • A laser printer can be had for around $40… (or less :) and yes once you go to laser you will wonder why you bothered with a inkjet.

      • AMLagonda writes…"A laser printer can be had for around $40… (or less :) and yes once you go to laser you will wonder why you bothered with a inkjet."

But would a $40 laser printer be really any good in the long run? And would it have come close to this one in quality? I am hoping that buying a printer that sells for $250 for only $100 means I made the right choice for my first laser printer.

I mostly got the inkjet for colour photo and graphics printing, but now I just do that at Officeworks. Then I realised all I want a home printer for is text and yes for that the only thing worthwhile is a laser. I hope I end up using it enough to justify the purchase.

  • It is cost $24 deliver to Sunshine Coast, too bad…

  • Did ANYONE receive an order confirmation email from Auspost/OfficeMax?

  • And the scalping begins…

  • Thanks for the post OP, great info about product.

I'm still on the fence about getting it.
I'm trying to decide if it's overkill getting this model.
I don't do a lot of printing, it must be a laser and the scan & fax will be very handy to have.

So its print per page cost is on the cheaper end of the scale (2100 print yield) yeah?, when compared to other brands & models in similar price range.

  • How does it compare with this one
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/176084#comment-2507707

It has colour, duplex scanning, good review according to amazon. It's ink though, but people says this one is really economical.

    • The HP1536 doesnt have duplex scanning - but at this price I can work around it.

Another benefit is that it prints very quickly from a cold start.

      • True. But the one in the link is not much more expensive neither. And it's colour print. The thing is it's really hard to trust ink..

  • +2

I Hate you Ozbargain…!! you make me buy things which I don't need..!! LOL

    • +1

I love you Ozbargain!!! You help me buy things which save me heaps of money! !! LOL

  • Just saw the note re recommended monthly printing. If I'm going to be way under this (e.g average 5-10 pages per month) will it harm the printer?

    • +1

      No harm to printer.

Unlike ink based printers, laser toners do not 'dry out' like ink. Ink printers you need to run periodically to avoid the ink setting / drying up on the print head or in the various chambers.

Considering the generic toner cost and the network connectivity (to your phone/tablet) you might find that the convenience of printing out a 'hard copy' of that thing you saw on your phone, or that receipt for a bill you paid on your phone, might tip your 10page per month quota :)

Just saw Auspost transaction on my credit card account… looks legit, might get these printers at end of week.

      • I've just checked too, there's a hold on my card as well for the invoice amount so hopefully they'll ship in the next day or so.

@Lunchguy, you only need worry if you go over the recommended monthly printing amount, as that's when you start to break laser printers and go through excessive amounts of toner and drums.

        • Don't hold your breath. I bought the printer at 6pm on Friday. The amount came up on my credit card account. Officeworks says the printer is obsolete and that I'll be getting my money back.

        • @robbiequinn:
          Correction: Officemax

        • I purchased my on Friday lunch time, got 3 tracking numbers from them. Mine's on its way already

    • Thanks both!

  • +3

These HP1536 Laserjet printers are great duplex, networkable mono printers (I have one).

Best of all you can buy 3rd party toner cartridges for $12 on eBay. I use these all the time - so it's extremely cheap to run as well.

    • +1

      thanks jeffr.
but as other pointed on page 1, cheapest now is $17 not $12 on ebay:(

  • oh em gee ozbargain!
Thanks for the purchase! Now I hope it goes through.

  • +3

Gone from site - out of stock?

    • it should be. not many can stand ozb weekend power buying. it would be strange if the stock are unlimited.

  • Looks like a good deal. Happy I popped an order in middle of last night to beat the rush this morning :)

  • +1

It's so obvious that this deal won't go ahead, OzB buying power is huge and the work experience IT kid wasn't on this weekend. He's in for some harsh words that's for sure :). Hope at least the early few get their orders fulfilled.

    • hint:
      * this is ozb
      * price is cheap, quality is good
      * comments indicated many buying more than one
      * weekend
      * put 999 quantity and website still allow to order
      * last for more than one day (weekend)

  • Ordered on Friday at 6:41. See how I go..

  • Same feeling…either first in best dressed and/or website glitch.

Someone above has reported their credit card has been charged but on receiving my order confirmation email it said that the credit card will not be charged until dispatch and it is unlikely they would dispatch on a weekend…

I have receieved no other email from them…might call them though…

  • Been reading some of the comments hear and I wondering about it now.

I placed my order on the 17 January 2015 2:44:15 AM EST, which was only 9 hours after the deal was posted. I also got an email confirming my order.

Are people in this time bracket expected to get there order fulfilled?

    • +1

Only thing you can do is wait, most likely option is no one will get their order or maybe the first 30-100 or so, could be as low as 5. When you've been on OzB this happens a lot espescially with online stores which don't have their shit sorted.

      • Thanks for explaining Davo93

    • The $15 flat rate delivery fee is peculiar - these printers aren't lightweight when compared to a 8 inch tablet.

I'm not fussed whether I get this order or not. It was an opportune time to replace my 7 yr old MFC with manual duplexing and slow printing speed, yet, I spent too much at Xmas time with gift giving that my credit card has received a hammering so cancelling this debt would alleviate that painus walletitus.

  • +2

For those people think the deal won't go through, I purchased mine on Friday lunch time, got 3 tracking numbers from them on Saturday. According to AustPost, mine's on its way already.

Edit: As Davo93 explained above, no one really know how many stock they have.

    • This sounds promising, thanks for sharing. I ordered mine Friday night and am hoping that mine will come through soon as well.

    • 3 tracking numbers for 5 units? Did you order anything other than the printers?

  • -1

Ordered mine Sunday night and got confirmation this morning.

    • -1

Ordered mine Friday night and got confirmation Friday night. Price is showing on my mastercard. I still won't get the printer. OfficeMax has told me.

      • That would be false advertising.
I will take it up with the ACCC if anything.

        • +1

what kind of confirmation. we are all supposed to get a confirmation once completed the checkout, was it something like this:

          Hello xxxxxxxx,
OfficeMax® would like to thank you for your order. You will find listed below the details of the estimated shipments that you will receive your order in.
Please be aware that you will be charged for your order on dispatch of goods. If your order is scheduled to be delivered in more than one shipment, the charge will also be split.

          or shipping/tracking confirmation?
if just the first one, that is automatic so it is still possible everything fall apart.
if you get the tracking, congrats!

and, yes please go to ACCC and let us know
