        • @erwinsie:

Yep, i already got my tracking number, if it all goes well i should be getting it by the end of the week.

        • @michaellee117: Lucky you!!

        • @michaellee117:

So you ordered Sunday Night and you have tracking number for a delivery? I ordered 2 days before you and I still don't have a tracking number?

Could it be because we are in different areas and it takes longer for some? What area of Australia are you in?

        • @michaellee117:
Could it be that you are a troll? I thought you were going to China this week (another thread). You certainly say "doubt it" a lot.

        • @michaellee117:

Yep me too, so maybe that's not it.

  • i ordered one on friday 16 18:30 and nothing from them yet, just a visa authorisation on my card

    • Same for me, visa auth on my card, no email notifications, nothing.

      • Yes they have taken auth on my credit card but no contact or email. I ordered mine on 16th. It's very rude. They could at least acknowledge us!

    • not a very good first experience purchasing online from australia post. i will be very hesitant to order anything online from them again.

  • Pathetic really. Time to start bombarding the inbox of Ahmed fahour (ceo of auspost) pretty unprofessional.

    • AusPost Stationary isn't run by AusPost, it's run by OfficeMax - they even had the same special.

Even if it were run by AusPost, I'm still not exactly sure what emailing Mr. Fahour would achieve anyway.

  • anyone had any responses from Aussie Post on this, i'm thinking this was a non deal and they are never going to tell us.

  • No response until now.
I start to find another printers.
I am thinking about HP Officejet Pro 6830 multifunction, any suggestions?

  • -1

    Why people don't just wait!?

    • +1

Because it's been five days, the op has a tracking number, and maybe, but probably not, one more ozbargainer, and nobody else has been contacted.

  • I had the Startrack guys try and deliver the printer but no one at home. Will have to pick it up from the local post office on Saturday. Atleast it will be easy for them to find it. It will be the biggest and heaviest parcel in their storage room.

Thanks OP once again. Might try and find a toner to make is a awesome back to school/work. Not than I have had a break in that time.

    • did you get any communication or a tracking number from them prior to delivery?

      • I did not get any communication from them. I did not register with Post Australia. I did a "guest" purchase.
I did get a email and it said something along the lines of registered members can track it.

Anyway I have not purchased anything else online since start of 2015 so it has to be the printer waiting for me at the post office.

  • Bought the printer and a bundle of copying paper. Received the paper but printer on backorder. When I called to get an ETA I was told that they have non in stock as it was a clearance item. So now I've got very expensive copying paper.

    • i assume i'm in the same situation. there is a visa authorisation on my card but it hasn't turned in to a transaction yet. i assume haven't processed it because they don't have stock

  • I think we are never going to get this.

  • Totally lame business practice. If I didn't enquire like you guys, we wouldn't have gotten a response.. same same discontinued.. they are looking for an alternative replacement..

  • Received my calculator but no sign of the printer.

    • lol that's going to be one expensive calculator :)

      • It was only $10. Ordered some cheap diaries too

  • Received an email about being out of stock. Order cancelled

    • Same here :(

    • Ditto.

Bit of a cop out if you ask me. they should have their site up to date with number in stock, not just send an email many days later pretty much stating better luck next time.

I did check stock availability before I purchased, entered my post code, it showed it was in stock, so I went ahead with the order.

For those of us that have had acknowledgement of the successful purchase, with a purchase order number replied to via email… and now receiving an email stating said item has been sold out, they should be held to offer us an equivalent product for the exact same price.

For a big company, you'd think they would have their online store done properly for stock levels, not just put 999 for stock available, then only have 10 actual items, and then email the ones that missed out to basically say "bad luck".

      Pfft.

      • Agree about it being a cop out, especially the part of the letter that says "As marked on the website, the product in question was a clearance line".

That's plainly wrong. At no time was the item on the Auspost website marked as a sale or clearance item. It's clear that they got their inventory management terribly wrong and they're just using that as a convenient excuse.

      • i remeber it asked for my postcode and said that it was "in stock"

I got the same email :(
So now that I am excited about getting a MFP does anyone have any suggestions on what I can purchase for a similar amount of money?

    • i need one too! can you setup forum asking for good deal on MFP, laser, black white only? duplex feature would be good

    • +1

I'm looking for same require as you, how about Brother MFC-L2700DW?

      • Seems pretty good for the price

  • Same here. Order cancelled. Pretty lame business they run.

  • +3

Congratulations to those who ordered quickly and received their printers, it was a bargain find 24601 thanks for posting it up.

As I stated before, happy to come away with nothing and spending nothing so my credit card can recover.

To all the noobies disappointed with the sour grapes, ya live and ya learn.

  • I got the same email, shame but oh well.

  • +2

Didn't even apologise for their hopeless stock count system… They must have sold over 5000 of them over the weekend. This shouldn't have happened if they track their stock level accurately which every online business should do.

  • I've just got the email (about being out of stock) also.
The way I see it, they offered the deal on the website, I accepted and provided payment, so the deal (that is, a contract to buy and sell) is done.
AustPost or OfficeMax or whoever they are are not entitled to cancel it unilaterally, so are liable for the difference between their price and whatever the next cheapest price for this model is.
A vendor with any decency should now be restocking so they fulfill the orders that were made.

    • +2

you have been member since 2013, should know better… we have this kind of cancellation way too many in ozb.
the more member we have this will become more common thing.
be fast, buy first think later and you will be happy.

move on to the next deal…

      • +1

yep, as usual. cant agree more.

    • yes, they should restock these and fulfil all orders, no matter the loss made to them. I mean, what is money, especially considering they were selling it for less than half of anyone else and probably got a few thousand orders. I also expect a new Rav4 for my time and the mental stress this has caused me. Plus I want it delivered to me by the tooth fairy.

    • +1

A contract is a contract - why is AustPost exempt from the law ?

If the printer had been delivered, would I be entitled to call up AustPost and say "I've just remembered I've already got a a printer. Please come and pick up the one you delivered and refund my money."

      • A contract is a contract - why is AustPost exempt from the law ?

So you bang on about "contracts" but did you read the T&C on their website? Or did you just miss the fact they can reject orders as long as they notify you.

  • I also received the email about the out of stock.
But I received the tracking number email on 20th Jan.

        • Maybe they sent the mass email to everyone that ordered rather than weed out the 3 who'll get printers.

          Might be your lucky day.

        • Maybe you'll get the printer AND a refund :)

        • @Moi:

Dick Smith did that to this guy I know.

        • But nothing is changing after two days

  • order cancelled as well, do they have right to cancel the order ?

    • +1

Yes, since you accepted their terms and conditions.

      1. SALE AND PURCHASE
        ….
        ….
We reserve the right, at our discretion, to limit the quantity of goods purchased per customer and to reject orders. We will notify you if such limits apply and if we reject the order for any reason.
      • Really bad for them, seems nothing we can do.

  • receive the email about cancelled order as well, I ordered around 10am Saturday.

  • According to their own term & condition:

    1. If we accept the Order, a binding contract between you and us will arise on these terms (the Contract). The Contract may be amended only by written agreement between us and you.

    http://stationery.auspost.com.au/terms-and-conditions-aupost

So that doesn't mean anything to them?

    • Check the next bullet point. All retailer safe guard themselves by asking you accept terms like:
We reserve the right, blah, blah and blah

      • So they don't have the right to amend the orders. For those ordered other stuff than the printer, are they gonna refund the whole order?

  • Told you guys a while ago, any regular OzBargain user could see this from a mile away. Doesn't excuse AusPost bad online business practices though.

  • cancelled :(

i'm leaving a bad review on productreview.com.au for them

  • -1

I ordered 6:47pm Friday 16th. Received confirmation within minutes. I've rung twice, got a garbled message the first time, and was told the second time that my order had been cancelled. I haven't received an email telling me that the order has been cancelled, but was asked to leave my phone number.

    • +1

Maybe they posted you a letter. ….and it got lost.

  • Order also cancelled but authorisation on my debit/credit card remains. Very poor form.

    • +1

They have to authorise it at order time, as they are not allowed to keep the CCV.
It was not debited. Normal practise.

      • The amount ($124) has been subtracted from my "available balance" so that's $124 of my own money I can't currently access. I would consider normal and responsible practice to be for those who attempted to place an order after the stock was exhausted to receive an "out of stock" message and for the transaction to conclude at that point. The CEO of Australia Post was paid $4.8 million last year - they should be able to afford someone to program their online shopping system properly.

  • Glad I didn't order 10 Toner Cartridges from eBay.

Might just crack open the $9 Dell Printer tonight to drown my sorrows.

  • +4

Mine cancelled also. Wife is happy that we dont have more "junk"

  • Mine cancelled. I ordered on Friday the 16th at around 7.30pm. Cancelling the order is fine. What pisses me off that they waited till I enquire to say that my order has been cancelled. I got the following email from the "Marketing Director" later today.

    Dear Customer,

    • Yep I got the same email. Cancelled order. Super frustrating…

  • Is there a way for them to prove that it was a clearance item. If anybody has any easy links to fair trading ombudsman please provide it here. Would at least like to make a complaint. Would be good if it was a mass complaint.
Remember the banks and excess fees. I don't expect much from it realistically, but worth a shot ozbargain style

  • I'm not too fussed about it not being in stock, its just the fact that it took them 6 days to tell us, and they still have the money on hold on my visa card.. Pretty ordinary..

  • Did anyone actually get one of these? OP? I got a one line apology after ringing twice. My bank account is still $114 down. I won't bother buying from OfficeMax or Australia Post after this. I notice that I am the only negger, and that there are an extremely large number of people who thought this was a fantastic deal! How was it ever a deal if there were no printers for sale?

    • -1

I'm very dissapointed as well. My bank account is still down… and it has been a couple of weeks already.

      • -2

I have sent them a reply letter and I'm planning to take further action (I would not have done so if they did not provide misleading information in their apology email):

        Dear OfficeMax,

I am very dissapointed with the business integrity of OfficeMax and will be planning to bring this up to the Australian Fair Trading Ombudsman, unless an agreement is made between your company and myself as the consumer.

        1. You have an obligation to supply a product once entered in a state of contract, the money that was held from my account on the 16/01/15 has not yet been refunded. Your terms and conditions state

If we accept the Order, a binding contract between you and us will arise on these terms (the Contract). The Contract may be amended only by written agreement between us and you.

I am not expecting a refund and would like the product shipped. There has not been any written agreement between you and myself.

        1. In this email you have clearly stated false and misleading information to consumers and myself:

As marked on the website, the product in question was a clearance line, for which we had limited stock.

The advertised product on the website was not listed in the clearance line, nor did it state there were limited stock as seen in the historical cached version of the website. This is a very misleading statement based on false information.

Product in question: HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer

I do understand that you're a business, and that you are looking make profits, that you had an exceptional amount of orders, however given that you responded with false and misleading information, I am not happy and will be taking further action if necessary.

To resolve this, I am happy to arrange an agreement between you and myself, however I am still not pleased with your conduct and lack of integrity with dealing with matters.

        Kind regards,

        Jason

        • firstly, no, its been 1 week. Dont take a moral high ground if you're going to lie.
If your concern is you dont have access to $115 of your money, then you should budget better.
Your demand to get the product shipped instead of a refund shows that you know the price may have been an error.
I hope the ombudsman puts your email / letter in the trash where it belongs

        • The advertised product on the website was not listed in the clearance line, nor did it state there were limited stock as seen in the historical cached version of the website.

          Turn it up.

          http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://…

Oh look, a big Clearance graphic on the cached version of the website.

I agree with mick123, don't lie if you're going to complain to the authorities.

        • -2

          @mick123:
I don't follow. What is the lie exactly ? It always amazes how often Aussies are prepared to just rollover and accept crap from retailers (on-line and on premises).

It's not the end of the world for me that AustPost have reneged on a sale of a printer (even though they accepted the order, confirmed stock was available to my postcode prior to the order being received, and then sent me a tracking number with the advice the item was packed up for me.)

But - in all other places I've lived and worked, a company of the standing of AustPost (including much smaller companies I've worked in that sell online), they would accept that they stuffed up and would just get in additional stock and fill the orders they had accepted. There are stock of these printers available, and if they sell at a small loss - well so be it. When you're in retail - you win some and you lose some.

Or maybe they don't care about their reputation - who knows.

    • the visa authorisation on my account went stale today (the money becomes unlocked), so i've got my money back. it will probably happen to you after 7 days as well. i wouldn't get too worked up over the whole affair.

  • So I'm curious, did the OP or anyone else end up receiving their printers?

    • I am curious too as my order was cancelled. Still wanting for the refund.

  • No cancellation notice - no printer - credit card had a pending debit which never materialised into a charge. Overall heard nothing, got nothing, billed nothing.

    • So it wasn't a deal after all. Enormous number of pluses for no deal.

  • Sorry for the late reply, I did get my printers, 3 out of the 5 purchased.
