    Both Fitbits show $136.

Where do I get the $116, please?

    • +3

      Use Code in post :)

      • +3

        Thanks - stoopid me!

  • omg…bought garmin vivofit for $94 - thought that was a bargain….

    • where did you get it for $94? Got mine for $98 from JB https://www.jbhifi.com.au/ipods-docks-sport/garmin/garmin-vi…

was thinking of the fitbit charge because it looks better. but i doubt i will be bothered to charge it every week… so vivofit is the ultimate choice.

      • Jbhifi had a deal during Xmas

after waiting for the Charge HR to be released and now it been priced at $199.95, this is a very tempting offer.

Has anyone had any major issues with the Charge band popping off? or it secure enough without the watch band style?
Or been to lazy to take it off and just showering with it on?

Pre order Charge HR at Harvey Norman for $178

      • +2

+1 - I preordered the Surge today for $297, it seems strange that they didn't update the pricing when FitBit changed theirs to $199 for the Charge HR & $349 for the Surge.

        • problem is the XL band is exclusive to the fitbit store though I believe… and this doesn't indicate what size you will get.

        • +1

          @Elijha:

The link I've posted is for a large but there small is listed on the HN website too. Are Fitbit taking orders for the XL - I don't see the option for that anywhere on the site.

      • I would if they had the blue one that my wife wants.

        • Officeworks are pretty good at straight exchanges - buy the black one and then swap it in a store?

      • +2

Does anyone know if the Charge HR heartrate monitor works without your phone connected? I found a heap of the other sports watches with this feature requires the blutooth connection for some reason. Would prefer to run without my phone.

    • +1

No problem with my charge popping off. It actually feels more secure than the flex band.

I accidentally put my charge in the washing machine the other day, went for a 1 hour warm cycle and came out working fine.

I would suggest unless you have tiny child-like wrists, get the large (I have the small but my wrists are tiny).

    • Yes it comes off. Had this almost 2 mths now and it does if you're active.

    • Yeh, I got so used to leaving the flex on, that I began treating the Charge in the same way - the shower and washing the dishes killed it. Lesson learned. Don't shower, and don't do the dishes.

    • If you want a black one, they are currently available from Amazon US for ~$189AUD delivered.

  • Hey Trent. I assume the voucher is for $20 off then is it?

    • Yeah Apply code in post then it will be $116

      • Thanks. After something else and $20 doesn't cut the mustard this time. Will hold out.

    • wow that's a design flaw ! was thinking of getting a charge too !

    • +1

Just out of curiosity… what's with the negative votes??

      • +2

because an account sign-up is required to see your fitbit community link.

(didn't neg you in case you're wondering).

  • +1

    Plus the 2% cashback ;)

    • Thanks for reminder!

  • Are these really useful guys?
Can you guys give me an insight on them?

If you are a person open to trying something new and like to give things an honest shot before bailing, then this can be really good. Obviously not the top of the range model, this still has pedometer, calories burned, distance travelled and "active minutes". Basically an activity tracker which you use for self motivation, again works only if you apply yourself and stick to goals/challenges you set. Don't let it turn into another treadmill/exercise bike/rower that gets put on Gumtree a month later, give it a good crack.

The sleep activity feature is actually good surprisingly, which tracks your tosses and turns so you can try to improve sleep.

Also many people just wear this as a fashion statement. Yes they look pretty cool and techy but please don't be one of those people who wear it to try make others think you are sporty ;-) I see enough of them already.

At this discounted price, it's well worth trying. Goodluck!

The silent (vibrating) alarms are also very handy! Unlike many watches, you can specify the day/time exactly. I have it set to alert me 5 minutes before the end of each lesson that I teach so that I can wrap it up effectively. Much prefer it to the beeping of a watch :) It's strange, but it's now the "killer feature" that I would miss in not wearing it!

And if you are one of those people who like new shiny things, and need a kick for motivation, check out the "Pact" app. You make a "pact" to go to the gym or do exercise x number of days per week (exercise = 10,000 steps with Fitbit, activity through Run Keeper, etc). If you don't do it, you pay a fine. At the end of the week, all the fines are divvied up and paid out to those who did keep their pacts. I made $1.80 last week. Huzzah! Next week I might be able to afford a coffee!

    • I also find the vibrating alarm function very useful. Syncs well with the app (better than the Zip) and has ability to create multiple alarms/schedule.

still get around 8 days batt life with the band vibrating once a day to wake me in the mornings.

  • Anyone have any comments on the price and features of the Samsung Gear Live?

how did you get the charge price to 116? the item is $144, so after discount, it's $124… am i missing something?

      • i snooze i lose.. Thank you

Ah ok… my bad didn't realise it was a private topic. It was basically one of the more popular topics on the help board - people complaining that the band comes off. This was one of my responses:

One of the ways Fitbit can help, is to recognise that they have an inherent design flaw which is upsetting a great number of customers and affecting sales and brand reputation. Look at the number of O rings and clasp keepers on ebay - surely they wouldn't be selling them if there wasn't an issue with the flex/Charge.

Do what Garmin did with the vivofit, which has the same closure system as the flex/charge. Old man has one and they sent him an email saying they would be sending out a clasp retainer which will prevent the band falling off.

For crying out loud this thing is an ACTIVity tracker. The fact that you can brush the inside of your wrist up against yourself, clothes or anything for that matter, and have the whole unit fall off your wrist, is incomprehensible and unacceptable. A toy watch made for kids at the dollar store has a better closure system.

Again, I love my fitbit and do not expect perfection, but I do expect a certain level of quality and aftersales support. This is a $100ish tracker, not a $10 no name knock off.

$124 is too expensive for me.

Then get a Xiaomi Mi Band. its about $22 at current exchange rate.

      • Where can I get one of these online for AUD $22? Reviews seem excellent for the price tag. CHeapest I can find for genuine is http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xiaomi-Mi-Band-Smart-Wrist-Fitnes… $25.96

          Ozbargain is your friend! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/177795

Another thing, this bad may not be as "hipster" as the Fitbit and may not be compatible with iOS or old Androids (4.4+) but it absolutely kills Fitbit on battery life, it lasts 30+ days according to specs but in reality I have had it last 50 days without needing to charge. Fitbit battery life is only 1 week i think at best.

        • @sylon: Thanks heaps sylon! All up paid $21.05. Im an Android user so no worries about iOS - hopefully it arrives in a decent amount of time.

  • Why did they put the price up? scumbags…

    • I think because they were in comp with someone like Harvey norman and their special ended so OW Ended theirs :(

      • Probably would be.

I picked up mine from Harvey Norman for $136 yesterday, last day of there sale.

    • +1

It's only $8 more… I know it's more than yesterday but still if you're looking for a change in lifestyle then this little device is a good motivator, don't let 8 bucks hold you back. Just be careful of how you secure it to your wrist…

  • Anyone tried to get this price in store? I have an office works like 20 meters from my office.

    • +3

You tell us since you have a OW like 20 mtrs from your office :)

  • Mine never comes off… only time it has when i have bumped it pretty hard… had it since Christmas.

Maybe people have it on too tight or something

    • +1

I take this back it has fallen off 3 times today.. Stupid thing!

      • Lol!! Curious as to how it happened? That forum thread is full of people who were like you, adamant that there was no design flaw and we're defending fitbit to the death… Oh well, now you know. A quick fix is a loom band / girls small hair tie.

        • Just bumping things. By itself it doesn't come off but since it just kind of buttons it anytime i get it caught trying to squeece my hand in something or rub it against myself it just pops off.. stupid thing

  • Can anyone recommend anything similar that doesn't have to be worn on the wrist?

  • Got a brand new fitbit for $60 :)

Get one from someone who doesnt want it and save yourself $$$$
