  • ausmann, trust me, I have the ASUS 1000HE and this MSI knock-off.
The ASUS 1000HE is far superior in terms of build quality and overall feel.

    ASUS 1000HE vs MSI U100+

    • MSI Fn key in bottom left - I keep thinking Ctrl key is there.
    • ASUS has two Fn keys - Great for the one-handed user.
    • ASUS has a larger finger pad area.
    • ASUS has a personal online storage system with purchase of a netbook.
    • MSI screen is poor compared to the ASUS.
    • ASUS build feels sturdy, MSI screen wobbles.
    • MSI has turbo mode, which is actually better than the ASUS. MSI had no issues playing 720p content, while overclocked.
    • ASUS does not saturate HDD with useless crap like the MSI netbook.
    • ASUS lasts longer on battery than the MSI.

    That's my analysis.
Even though the price might be right for you, the MSI netbook might not be.

    My Verdict: Stick with ASUS

EDIT: Sold my MSI U100+ on eBay 2 weeks after I bought it.

  • I've used both as well and the glossy interior on the 1000HE drove me insane - ASUS had the good sense to give it a matte display but then screwed it up by making the bezel highly reflective. The U100+ has both a matte display and matte interior, great for weirdos like myself who use netbooks on the go and expect them to be designed for frequent handling and varying light conditions.

The build quality on both is fine, IMHO.
