    Best frozen pizzas of all time

    • +4

      They sure are, actually even better then some restaurant pizza , I always stock up when they are on special.

      • +10

        I think that says more about the restaurants than it does about this pizza…

        • +2

          I must be in the minority, I find these frozen pizzas, along with any other frozen pizza ive tried, completly boring and flavourless

        • +2

          @MelbBargainChaser77:

          totally agree they never have enough cheese on it's like they threw the cheese on the pizza blind folded and from the other side of the room.

        • @scorpweb: They used to be really nice when they were made in Germany, ever since they went local, I think your cheese description is spot on, toppings too.

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: Yeah LOL … and I'm not even a person that likes really strong flavours that much.

          These aren't terrible relative to a lot of other frozen pizzas though. They're pretty stingy on toppings.

          I think Woolworths Select range is nicer.

      • FYI $3.50 is the cheapest ever price.

    • +3

      Agreed. Favorite is the spinach, followed by mushroom.

      • +1

        I tried McCain Once and never again! Especially once I saw that flattened mouse in base story

        • bought one last week i was seriously shocked to see the amount of toppings on it, i didnt even bother cooking it aldi's $3 frozen pizzas had more topping.

        • +3

          Hey, no fair, I didn't get a mouse in mine.:)

        • http://www.thecourier.com.au/story/592089/man-tells-of-findi… interesting.

          How about those "when in Rome eat Pizza" at Coles for $3, what are they like?

        • +1

          @Crownanchor:
          Quite good actually, a bloody bargain for $3. More topping than McCains and they're quite tasty.

        • @okay:

          The reviews dont look too good here http://www.productreview.com.au/p/when-in-rome-eat-pizza.htm… might give it a miss and continue buying Dr. Oetker.

        • +1

          @Crownanchor:

          I tried one just the other day actually. The margherita had absolutely no taste. It would probably be nice if you had some toppings at home to put on it though.

        • +1

          @Crownanchor: Terrible. Worse than Dr Oetker the fake doctor chef's pizzas by a long shot.

          I don't mind Woolworths Select though.

        • @nexus4:
          It's margherita flavour….what do you expect?

        • @okay:

          I expect it to taste like cheese and tomato. Not nothing.

      • +1

        +1 (Spinach)

    • +1

      I once agreed that Dr Oetker was no. 1, but since early 2014, the Ristorante range of pizza was purchased by the owners of the papa guiseppe brand. It's production has moved away from Germany to now ALL varieties being made in Australia.

      Im not against Australian made by any means, but when it came to these Pizzas, the quality difference was huge. The 'Spinachi' flavour was the last that was actually shipped here and made in Germany, while the other varieties all changed to made in Australia. I havent seen the 'Spinachi' flavour for 6 months now in my area.

      $3.49 back in Sep 2013 :( https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116766

      • We bought a spinach one at woolies a few weeks back. It seemed fine and the same as they always have been ( maybe it was German stock)

        • Ok good, thanks for the update - Hopefully this version is kept away from Australian production. There is a flag icon and a 'Made in Germany/Australia' in large font.

        • I remember Spinach w/ a nearly "see-through" crust, before recent change. "A bit harder to remove from box, but worth the effort!)

      • +4

        Actually, Dr. Oetker purchased Papa Giuseppi. :)

        http://ausfoodnews.com.au/2011/03/10/dr-oetker-reveals-plans…

        And their Bakehouse Feta and Pumpkin pizza is actually very nice.

        • Nice sleuthing! Either way, IMO the Dr. Oetker range has seen a huge quality/taste drop-off since the relocation of production to Australia.

        • @rawm: I really question this actually now LOL. There's no way to know if it was confirmation bias because you thought Papa G made it now.

        • +2

          @rawm: I looked on some of the boxes in store.. I noticed the Mushroom, Mozzarella and Spinach ones were all made in Germany, where the ham and pineapple was made in Australia.

          I very much hope the veggie ones stay made in Germany. ;)

      • +1

        @rawn, cheapest was $2.99 link :)

    • Spinach best in that Brand. was even better until recently. (Almost nonexistant crust.)

      But… $3.50 is more than "20% Off"

  • Thanks OP, Spinachi is one of the best frozen pizzas I ever had.

    • Wow, I really gotta try this pizza variety :D

      I think it must be popular cos I've never seen it but I'm usually in the stores around 6 or 7 pm.

      • OK I tried it and … I dunno. There's a lot of spinach but it's not that great :D Not the worst frozen pizza I've had (but for $7.50 you'd hope not…)

  • To those dr oeteker advocates -

    I've been curious as to how their pizza compares to dominos $4.95 value range?

    • No competition surely. I don't understand people defending frozen pizza.

      Sorry, im more of a food snob than i should be, or can afford to be.

    • Seriously?

    • +1

      I personally prefer the Dr. Oetker range, hands down. Sometimes I'll add some fresh olives or feta to the Spinach one or the mushroom.. mmmm.

      Oh, and cracked pepper! :)

  • -2

    frozen pizza circle jerk

  • Tried the spinach, not great and certainly not bad.

    My preference is certainly with dominoes.

    No need to heat oven/clean up.

    The same time it takes to cook myself, I'd have ordered and picked up already.
