I read about this deal on iMore. It provides Unlimited Lifetime backup of your mobile device (iOS, Android or Windows) for $10USD. It is usually $4.95USD a year or the Lifetime plan is $50USD.

Quite a good deal. I know that there are a lot of other services which provide free online backup (Google, Amazon etc) but this is another alternative. I have not tried their mobile backup, but use iDrive for my Mac's.

Deal seems really good. Just a bit weary on how a business can support this offer for only $10. May give it a go. Thanks OP

Lifetime equals lifetime of the company

      • iDrive have been around for awhile and the service has been getting some good reviews.

Just had a look on Google Play and lots of unhappy customers. Main complaint is that it's very very slow or just not backing up at all.

      • Lifetime of the device, presumably. So 2 to 4 years for most.
edit: says up to 5 devices. I suppose mobiles top out at 64gb for most, so it isn't really that much

The reliability of this backup solution is completely dependant on how well coded their mobile app is. I suggest going to the iTunes store or whatever store and reading the reviews of the company, and the quality of their tech support, and then decide whether it's worth your $10.

As for me, I'm just going with my good ol' free DIY solution — using Titanium Backup on a schedule to backup to SD/dropbox, with no ongoing cost whatsoever. No fuss no muss, and I can tell when it's worked or not.

  • Hmmm…unlimited storage or is it unlimited service….if it is unlimited storage then it sounds too good to be true…there is no service out there that i know of that gives unlimited storage for $10…or is there?

    • Flickr gives 1Tb for free. This is unlimited mobile back-ups, so the limit is how much data is on your mobile devices.

To be fair, this deal is via stack social. I have bought other things from them, and they are sometimes hazy on the terms and conditions. For example, they sold 'lifetime' access to some web site templates but purchasers complained they had been given a one year subscription. No idea if it got resolved.
On the other hand, some things were quite good. I got a VPN as part of a software bundle for under $10 and it has worked well.

  • So I risked the $10 (probably $12 after exchange).
It has backed up the 1200 photos on my 32Gb iPhone plus contacts, calendar and videos. About 11Gb all up.
I think it took a few days, and it defaults to back-up over wi-fi only.
There is a web interface where I can go and look at my back ups too.
It is also automatically backing up new content.
Considering I had no effective back up for this phone (irregular syncing to a laptop was all) I am quite pleased, and if it keeps running for 2 or 3 years I will be even happier.
It is dramatically cheaper than iCloud too.
