Saw this on RACV email and I think its pretty good discount to go to GP 2015. GA gets 20% discount and there is also a 4 day seated package which is reasonable.

I think there are discounts on ticketmaster giftcard via entertainment book to further reduce the cost of the tickets (10%).

      There are usually small GA stands around the track, but they're normally not in the best spots and are usually claimed pretty quickly anyways. You can bring your own chair to sit on though.

    Does this allow you to buy tickets for others? Ie. With the grandstand pass can you buy for non RACV members and still get in?

      I would like to know this as well. I assume you just have to confirm your membership number when you go to pay for it.

      It was the same last year actually. The ticket for each individual day has a price (however cost of 4 day pass = just cost of sat + sun anyway) and closer to the event they offer free passes for the family day. Just wait and see, i bet it happens exactly the same way again.

    Although the V6 turbo's don't sound as good, its still loud so don't forget your headphones/earplugs :)

      I was trackside (less than 5m from the cars as they accelerated away from a corner) last year in Singapore and didn't need earplugs. They still sound amazing when you can see them live and not on TV!

      I'll agree with Flying Ace

      You need (or would be wise to have) ear protection for the V8's, the Porche Cup and the old V10 speed test F1 car..
      You definitely don't need them for the current F1 cars based on last years Melbourne F1 visit.

        V8s and Porsches aren't that bad, you want to hear the Monster Trucks. Didn't know it, but they're as loud as the Top Fuel drags!

      Yer they are not loud at all anymore.
      Last year the guy who used to sell the earplugs outside was only selling ponchos for the typical Melbourne weather..

      I must be missing something, but I think turbos sound bloody great. What's the point in anything in life (cars, music, etc) being beyond the level where they do permanent damage to the human ear anyway?

      Not this year.
      But the rules could possibly be changing this year and therefore in 2017 they might change to V10's engines which should sound a lot more louder. There is not enough time to develop a new engine for 2016 even if they agreed to switch to V10s.

          No.. They are not as fast as they were.
          Look at all the track records. Most were set in around 2004

          There are pretty close with newer technology with the engines and Energy Systems and tyres.

          But its not as grand as its used to be. These days the drivers do not drive flat out. They need to drive at an optimum pace to save fuel and converse rubber on the tyres

          The increased output from the ERS, change in tyre compound and better understanding of the aero regs should mean a gain of 1.5-3s per lap based on 2014 times. That's car specific rather than the field, so the Ferrari might gain 3s while Mercedes pick up 1s, but given the fact Ferrari were so far behind last year, they need as much as possible!

          As for the cars being "slow", let's not forget that by the end of last season, they were pushing some great lap times, faster than had been seen in a number of years.

    I just registered for myself (teacher) and my class to go for free (choose from either Thurs or Frid) http://www.grandprix.com.au/2015-event-day-registration they send tickets to the school closer to the date.

    Hi, would anyone know if you necessarily need to show a RACV number for this promo? I read somewhere you have to show your RACV number to receive your ticket by the door, but I also saw you can receive your ticket online which didn't look like you need it.
