  • Who is better to fly with. Air NZ or Virgin?

    • +3

I believe virgin is codeshare with Air NZ.
The aircraft itself should be AirNZ

      • You are correct, it's the same. You will always be flying an Air New Zealand Plane.

There may be terms and conditions slighty different. ie. You might not be able to use your points to upgrade the flight with your AirNewZealand points if you book via VA.

I think Air NZ owns a fair amount of Virgin Aus.

Nice deals. Bit too early for me but i'll be escaping to NZ to hide when Australia's economy collapses.

when we went NZ 2.5 yrs ago on Virgin, kids on paid 75% of the fare for international travel. when did that change?

  • +3

Annoying that those fares don't include baggage or even food! The real cost if you want a checked bag is a fair bit higher ($50 return!). Movies? Food? Bring your own. Or, pay an extra $30 return.
I thought Virgin or AirNZ would have included that for international flights.

Depending on where you're flying from (brisbane just over 3 hours) is food really necessary? can't expect too much included when you're getting a cheap flight :)

      • Food maybe not but checked bags surely is. Hard to fit everything you need for an international flight in to 7KG of carry-on.

The other airlines like Emirates already include these so if you end up adding on, the prices are the same anyway. There's just some small savings if you drop food and movies.
