Windows 7 Pro/Home Premium (32/64-bit) "Upgrade" for AU$49.95

12

Firstly, this is different from the itsnotcheating offer.

Second, this is how you get Pro:
1. Enter your email address to confirm eligibility
2. In the email they send you, click the link (that takes you back to the site but now allows you to buy the software)
3. Under the orange Buy Now button, there is a yellow box that says "Need to join your university’s network domain? You can also get Windows 7 Professional for 49.95AUD Click here".
4. Click that and check out! (can only do so with a Credit/Debit Card)

I've tested this and it works. Once you've successfully placed your order, they ask you to download the Windows 7 Downloader which then downloads 2 files (setup1.box and Win7-P-Retail-en-us-x64.exe) that you'll need to install 7. I just finished getting them and am about to unpack.

Lastly, I've put Upgrade in quotations because it seems to be the full retail version, and not just an upgrade.

Enjoy!

PS: May I say, though, that we are, quite sadly, being ripped off on this (as well as on itsnotcheating - same price, same site just diff. look). At the current exchange rate of about 93c to the USD, we should be paying about AU$32 instead, given the US version of this site is selling the same licences for just US$29.99! :( Oh well…

DAMN! Just used 3GB of my internet quota and the damn downloader gives me an ERROR! :@

    "Unloading the Box

The application cannot find one of its required files, possibly because it was unable to create it in the folder. Please make sure that the folder in which this application was downloaded is accessible and not read-only."

I can't believe this! The instructions on the website tell you to download to your Desktop, which I did, and this is what I get! @#$%!

    • Re-downloaded the files - this time I got the 160MB previously-missing setup2.box, too.

Tried to extract and got another error message:

      "Unloading the Box

      An error was encountered.

A required privilege is not held by the client."

I believe this may be because I'm using a Guest-like account on my PC atm, so I'll try again a little later on another PC.

    • That is why you dont use your web browsers built in download tool to download large files.

Use a dedicated download manager which supports resuming.

  • Can't see how this is any different from itsnotcheating. I tried my non edu email it just rejected it. No email sent, no yellow box. What region have you got yours set to?

    • the link i've connected this deal to is the Australian version - i don't set it to anything :s

  • "selling the same licences for just US$29.99"

This is where I support students grabbing an .edu address. There was a deal last night to set up a dodgy .edu address, which would obviously be illegal if you use it to obtain licenses when you are not a student. However to obtain the same licence in a different currency is entirely a different matter!

    • yea i didn't realise in the fineprint that they could ask u to prove that you're actually a student of an American Uni/College. i simply thought that if a .edu address would suffice, then just make one. (i guess i was hoping we could cash in on a good deal - pay ~AU$32 instead of AU$49.95 - that they'd later remove, like they did with the US$19 offer last month or something)

  • Doesn't work for me, entered my email address and it came back with "Sorry, we were not able to verify your eligibility" - and obviously no email received from the site.
