This is the first decent price I've found for the SW3. Much cheaper than anything else I can find including Amazon ($248 USD) and the usual Hong Kong suppliers (~$270 - $290).

Note however that it's now on backorder with no date given for order fulfilment. Already tried getting the Sony Store in Nunawading to do same price with a firm 'No' being the response. Would be very curious to hear if anyone else is able to get PM in store somewhere.

Fine print clearly states: "Saving off selected models online and in Sony Stores. Valid until 11:59pm (AEDST) 10 Feb, 2015 or while stocks last. See product pages for eligibility".

Update: Nunawading are claiming as a franchise store they are not bound to offer products at the same price as what is found via the Sony Online store even though they are listed as one of the 4 Sony Centres in Australia. Best price they will offer is $278.

  • Probably the best first gen android wear device

These wearable devices won't get its breakthrough until it stops making you look like a ben10 wannabe.

  • No HRM, no party.

Having been through two android wear watches with inbuilt heart rate monitors I can assure you they are possibly the most useless inclusion in a smartwatch with the current tech. Introduce any moisture between the optical reader and the skin (i.e. sweat) and you get horribly inaccurate reads. Couple this with the fact they barely work in optimal conditions and you have yourself one very useless feature. Optical HRMs are still a looong way off being reliable in their current form. Having said that each to their own but if you value accurate monitoring then go with a chest strap.

    • If you want a HRM that actually works get one of these like I did - Mio FUSE. Rated as equal to EKG monitor in a hospital, not sure if thats 100% true but it takes my heart rate pretty good when running, mountain trail walking or in the gym. I use Endomondo with it most of the time even in the gym to get a heart rate graph. Dont think any smart watch will have this feature integrated for next 12-18mths that actually works with any reliability…when they do, maybe I go for one then, but for now, get one of these http://www.mioglobal.com/Mio-FUSE-Heart-Rate--Activity-Track…

  • Even more dull looking "smart watch" that can't receive phone calls. It just alerts incoming texts, calls and emails.

Not much better some bluetooth devices.

Who wants to receive calls on their watch? Seriously a person doing that would look like a dick tracy wanna be dumb arse. But if you're into that kinda dorky thing then go for the Samsung Gear S watch, which from what I understand is the only smartwatch on the market right now that can do this (and probably only pairs with Samsung phones): http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_gear_s-6620.php

But so what if the Sony Smart Watch 3 doesnt receive calls, lets not forget all the other features it gives a person beyond a regular watch.

      • Yeah that's the problem. "Other features" of Sony Smart Watch 3 are nothing special. Most of these features already exist in many fitness trackers or even existing "smart watches".

How it is exactly better than Pebble smart watch or or Nike+ Sportswatch? Well, if you have tons of money to waste then it's your choice, but I don't see a point.

At least Samsung Gear S can receive phone calls, browse the internet, receive&send texts and hips other features separate it against the other lot and makes Gear S unique. Same things can not be said for Sony Smart Watch 3 unfortunately.

        • At least Samsung Gear S can receive phone calls, browse the internet, receive&send texts

Seriously you want to do that stuff from a tiny screen on your wrist rather than your phone? In public??? Okay mate, whatever tickles your fancy.

  • Great news, might try Melbourne City Store tomorrow

    • Just buy it online?

  • Gave a call to sony au, they said nunawading should match.

    • That's very interesting. I've spoken to two individuals there now both say they won't. If you have any luck can you post your receipt and we'll follow suit.

  • Now in stock and can add to cart.

  • They said they shipped mine out early last week but still haven't received it.
