Japanese Eneloop Batteries 8xAAs, 4xAAA, Charger $33.59 - Costco (Membership Required)

60

8xAA, blue
4xAAA green and wall charged for 4 batteries

Charger made in China, batteries made in Japan..

Not the best deal ever…. but
Presumably better than the second rate ones made in China being sold by the major retailer of eneloops in Australia.

  • They're better, but not 200% better.

  • Are Japanese better than Chinese?
What kind of charger should I get?
What does everyone use these for?
Just thought I would get these questions out of the way.

      A) Both are good however the is a perception that Japanese is better
      B) One that works
      C) They are used as a badge of honor in the OzB community and a secret sign of being a member. Eg Person A: "Hey I picked up some enloops the other day" Person B: "Oh yeah I check OzB regularly"

        (continued)
A (who is a mega hot chick): Oh really, me too, what's you nick on there?
        B: Gnarlyknuckles.
A: NO WAY! I love your constant witty and informative posts. Will you marry me?
B: (winking irresitably) Sorry sweet-cheeks, there's just too much of me to be fenced in, if you know what I'm sayin'…
A: (looking very despondent) Oh… yes of course. Well I know a nice little hotel down the road that does "short stays" if you know what I mean. Would you at least be interested in that?
B: Always happy to oblige a pretty lady…

This has happened to me many times. Thanks Eneloop, and OzB

        • And all capped off with a free Ansell dinger jacket from previous weeks.

This is ozbargain - "how much?" would have come up in that conversation somewhere.

          Nah IBIS, deadset serious.

In the future, we will use eneloops to barter with fellow ozbargainers.

Eventually, we'll have an OzB member become the PM of Australia and declare Eneloops (Japanese made) to be the official currency of the nation. Then we'll be rich, RICH I TELLS YA!!!!

        • Once the economy collapses, eneloops will be the new gold. Japanese will be like pure 24 carat while Chinese will be like 22 carat.

    • Asked a similar question in another thread and went and had a look

Came to the conclusion that the Japanese ones are better, however the difference is so minor that you probably won't even notice. Plus the price you get them for… you can't really go wrong either way :)

I use mine for remotes, RC toys and my DLSR Flash… pretty much everything I can use them with. They're solid batteries

      • Works well with DSLR flash as well

    • I assume you didn't leave out "battery" in your first question on purpose. Otherwise, the answer to that question is certainly Chinese are better.

    • Assuming you're referring to Eneloops and not the races…

Japanese are superior in real world tests in build quality, capacity and longevity (there are links upon this site somewhere).

      Maha / Powerex MH-C9000.

I could tell you, show you or the most favoured option after divulging, leave it to your imagination ;)
(most use them in kids toys, remotes, cameras, torches (another item you REQUIRE several for acceptance around here) and the like).

  • Does this have the quick charger or overnight charger?

  • Which Costco?

    • I've also seen them in the stationary isle in Canberra's Costco

    • Also seen at Auburn, NSW
      Same price as OP

  • Docklands has them

When they are machine manufactures, it makes no difference if it is in Japan or China.

One of my Nikon battery say "Made in Japan, Further processed in China" - wondering what that means!

    • Forgive me if I am incorrect, but as far as I am aware these new Chinese Eneloops are not the same FDK Twicell that they used to be… Meaning that they are a different manufacturer and battery altogether!

I thought the mac bin is made in the usa…?

      • -1

Your comment is like "I thought Bond is made is Australia…?"

        • Yeah okay… Mac pro bin is manufactured in usa…? Is that clearer for you?

  • I heard from friends that Costco allows 1 day pass for non-members. is this true until now?

also the charger in this bundle deal, is it the overnight changer or the fast one?

    • There is no 1 day pass for non-members. If there was, no one would pay the $60 membership, everyone would just get a '1 day pass' every time they went there.

    • Costco will fully refund your $60 membership fee if you are not happy after your 1st visit. works the same way as a 1 day pass
