    • Same boat. I'm at 25 mins…it's possible they need to be authorised by someone who's AFK :-)

I think they have changed it the way send out voucher.

Last time I got it in 5 mins.

        • -2

Yes…. 48 hours delay. Enough time to sell your e-mail and details to India and recoup the cost of the voucher and some!!

      • I tried about a month ago, nothing came through. I also noticed the signup link no longer pops up the first time you visit the website on a new pc or after clearing the browser data.

  • How loud is the HP S6000?

    • It is actually quite good at that price. After the first charged I used it a few days and several hours a day still no need to charge.

      • What about the SOUND QUALITY .. is it load or just average sound like the rest of em?

        • Clear enough for me to listen to Internet Radio. Check out the last ozbargain thread for people feeling. I would say not bad for that price of course you could not compare it with boom box.

        • im reading htere is it cr@p quality speaker poor sound. Think I will Pass

        • @Gavman:

          But also some said

"bought two today and pleased with the sound. A bit static ish when turned up full volume but doesn't get in the way of enjoyment. Great small, portable size for the price and sound."

          also

"Just got mine this morning and the sound quality is very good for the size of the speaker, no distortion unless you push the volume too high. Listing to the free Kelly Clarkson album from Google Play Music thanks to OzBargain through the speaker and am impressed by the sound quality for the size of the speaker, definitely not tinny. Recommended."

        • distortion and static aint 2 words i wana see

        • @Gavman:

You aren't going to get perfect sound for $24. Just listen at a sane volume…

        • @magicmoose:

Of course la mine only $18.

        • The Logitech x300 for $28 @ office works is quite close even though its not the loudest.

  • Hrm ChromeCast not bad. Still a bargain, although have seen it for $38 before with Dicksmith via Ebay I think it was haha.

    • its 43$.. by time u get your 5$ code the deal will be overs

      • True that. This was a previous deal a few months ago though! Still good news for us bargain hunters that the prices are still dropping :)

        • same still waiting for my $5 code.. :(

        • When did you register?

        • @Gavman: I never received a code after signing up in October. Bah Harvey meh

        • pathetic! I wonder if you get their e-mail regardless?

  • I've got a Chromecast and struggle to find a use for it (changed back to iPhone gasp) it's probably against the rules to sell on here…?

    • Netflix, youtube, Crunchyroll or even games.

      • Have got a MacMini/XBMC/Airplay enabled so can do all of that already. Not saying they aren't useful, just not for me since going from Android to iOS.

    • Ill buy it off you if you like? Melbourne region. PM Me.

    • Cardcast. Cards against humanity for Chromecast. Hours of fun.

      Plex. Years of fun.

There's plenty of iOS apps that support the Chromecast including YouTube, ABC iView and of course Google's own Play Movie and Play Music, perfect for all those free movies and songs.

Amongst others, I also use it to stream Stan and from Seagate's media player if you have their wireless drive or LaCie's Fuel.

  • I was really close to getting a Chromecast, until I tried my friends one. I have to say I was really disappointed with the performance.

I was expecting superior performance to my t1000 ezcast dongle but the performance is the same but with fewer format compatibilities and more restrictions.

    • +1

What particularly were ur disappointed with? The great thing abt it is chrome cast is quite compatible with alot of stuff and for under $50 thats good.

I know the performance can be contributed to by poor wireless infrastructure so if your mate had that then it would distort your perception of it.

Also the Cast desktop to screen I know and tested aint the best. Its laggy at best even with good wireless but that being said that part is still in beta.

    • Can be hit and miss, but my main beef is its insistence of an Internet connection, even when I'm streaming stuff off my wireless drive - ie local, not Internet content.

  • performance

    What performance?

    • Mainly screen mirroring and media playback

        • actually thats my main beef with it, i tried running a few videos i have on my phone which it refuse to play and it wont seem to accept my mp3 off the bat. i think its partly a perception issue. i expected a lot more from it since i got the ezcast first and that the internets seem to imply ezcast is more a chromecast knock-off, so i expected that whatever the ezcast does, chromecast will do it better.

      • The main good things about Chromecast is CAST not screen mirroring.

CAST is a lot better than screen mirroring.

        • Whats the diff? do u mean 1 google page vs the entire desktop?

  • @Gavman:

For Example if you want to play a youtube video your phone will send the command to order Chromecast to download and play the video by itself you can still control Fast Forward, pause, play, etc. You can still do something else on your phone and setup a playlist.

  • After seeing this deal, I did some searching. I found these $14 Chromecasts on eBay.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Google-Chromecast-HDMI-Streaming-…

Are they legit? It's either I go for the OP's deal, or get these ones off eBay. Might take a month to come, but I'm happy to wait just to get it at that price. And I might get more than one as well.

What do you think? OP deal, or these kind-of-suspicious eBay ones?

    • Why does one of the pics show someone prising open the case? Looks sus to me. Coming from China, even more so.

      • @mick01 seriously! I was curious to see whether it could handle a good ribbing: now I know!

    • These have to be copies or something. No way they could be $14 for the genuine thing. Im looking for a second CC but wont be buying the $14 one.

    • Thanks all. The price is really tempting, but you're right. For that price, it seems too good to be true. I'm not even going to get one for laughs.

      • Chromecast with free shipping from china all for $14 AUD. expected delivery mid March!…Just toooooo SUS. eventhough 84 already bought

        • Thanks, Gavman. Yeah. I'm heading to HN today then.

    • +1

WHATEVER YOU DO DONT BUY ONE OF THESE $14 CHROMCASTS!!!

It is listed under Go karts in the Cars section and has no PAYPAL protection and you will never see the item.

  • Can they still be bought for $38 at Big W with EDR card?

    • doubt it says expired and the link shows nothing on chromecast i would say its over.

      • I was in Big W today and saw "$38 as Advertised" on it in the display case .. didn't look closer to see if it was EDR tied though.

        • Thank you for confirming

        • I went to Big W Carindale QLD, was $48, no discount. Didn't buy.

        • same but in Victoria. No deal and the edr things finished already. I would say the ticket you saw was a residual ticket they forgot to take it off. Not surprising. They are pretty slack at bigW

  • Will Good Guys price beat this? or after I buy, I bring to receipt within 30 days to get the 120% price difference rebate/refund?

  • Appears that the good guys have lowered their price to $43 aswell.

Still $38 in Big W today - without having to muck around with newsletter signups.

Link??? Or store? Do you have a photo of the stand in the store so we can price match

  • I'm a bit disappointed that I can't stream Plex to the Chromecast from my ReadyNAS RN10400 (no transcoding support). Obviously I didn't research this before buying.

    • Are you sure it didn't work with you model?

      https://plex.tv/downloads

      • I'm trying to cast Plex from the ReadyNAS to the Chromecast (via a mobile device (iPad)). No dice. Need a computer in between to do the transcoding, which defeats the purpose of the NAS + Chromecast. Bahumbug!

  • Expired

  • Got 3 today, one gift away, two for home.
Finally can stream from my Intel Nuc with Plex.

  • not expired http://www.harveynorman.com.au/google-chromecast-hdmi-stream… seems to show it is still $38
