This deal is back on!
I think it's a steal regardless of the newer 920xt, this is the next best thing for half the price.

I have the 310XT and its still going strong 5 years on.. nice price on the upgrade.

Same, I just can't find a reason to upgrade. It still works great and doesn't give me any problems.

  • paid $450 incl. delivery for the full tri kit from wiggle about 1yr+ ago, definitely worth it for $299. only gripe i have with it is that it takes ages to get a gps lock, but a firmware update might fix that.

    • Mine has the latest firmware and if there's a clear view of the sky gets a lock in usually less than a minute

  • Yeah it's a terrific watch. Agree with the long GPS lock time, & no it isn't fixed in the latest firmware. The newer Garmins get a faster GPS lock as I think they can 'remember' previous GPS signals.

    • Yep, got the Garmin 620 here, and it "remembers" where satellites should be from previous runs, so if you're running every 2-3 days it locks on in about 15s max. Usually locked on before I step outside.

You can also sync with the phone app and it updates the location of where the satellites should be iirc.

Makes an enormous difference, without remembering where it's at i've had it take a good 2 minutes in open skies. Needless to say, I made sure I run more often rofl

  • Unless you want a specific software feature OR the better battery life of the 910XT, I would recommend the Forerunner 220 for the same price:

Better for all day wear as it's watch size and really fast GPS lock. I had the Garmin 305 and I used it for years (still works) but the GPS lock speed was painfully slow.

    • the 910xt is a tri watch, most people get it for cycling and swimming as well.

  • Barometric altimeter is great for anyone planning on doing hills. I got the 310XT on a prev deal (no altimeter) and GPS elevation is patchy at best. This would be much better for hill climbs

  • Love my 910xt, and the footpod is useful as well.

Performance (of the watch) when swimming I've found to be a bit patchy. Cough performance of the wearer when swimming is even worse. Maybe Garmin fixed that with the 920xt.
