  • $25 shipping is a bit steep…

    • Shipping charge really depends on the weight of the product and the delivery address. We are using Australia Post shipping calculator to calculate. All items are shipped by registered post or courier with tracking no.

  • It's an awful product for laptops. And they have a 10.2" Touchscreen Kit For Asus EEEPc, that really sucks. It could be good for a desktop.

    • We recommand our 10.2" kit for professional installer only as it is
quite hard to install. Opening a new laptop do VOID the warranty.
Anyway the installation procedures are on video here:

It's not our video, it is done by a professional installer.

  • couldnt think of a better way to void warranty

    • Even if it does void your warranty and the monitor breaks it will probably work out cheaper to buy another monitor than it would have been to buy a touch screen monitor in the first place.

    • i'm no expert, but warranties don't last long. If you have an old computer you want to give a new lease of life…then why not :)

However, SrMoure says its crap, and i was thinking i'd do it to my 7" eeepc. So it looks like i wont :(

I think SrMoure was saying a touch screen laptop is not nice to use, not that it is bad for laptops.

        • My laptop has a built-in touchscreen, I actually find it really awesome to use. It's quicker to just tap the screen for some things, like dialog boxes or larger links in a browser, than to move the mouse pointer with a small touchpad or nipple to it.

    • How is an overlay going to void a screen's warranty? The only thing touching the original screen is some double sided tape.

      • The ones i've seen - you have to unscrew the case to install it

  • I have the 10" EEE and was eyeing similar one on Dealextreme but thought it was too pricey / risky - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.19654
Assuming it's the same product, the reviews seem pretty positive.

Cheaper there, free shipping and $20 Paypal cashback but I'd go with local shop if they actually did the installation, which still looks tricky even without soldering…

  • I think the technology could work well, but having a netbook plugged with all that wiring plus the green circuit hanging around it's far from convenient.

  • More to the point, what the hell is wrong with using the touchpad. Yet another fad.

You probably haven't used one before. That's what I thought too, before i got a laptop with a touchscreen. Of course it's not a replacement for a touchpad, trackpoint, or mouse… but a touchscreen is FAR quicker and more intuitive than any one of those, for some things like quickly tapping on a dialog box, surfing some websites (the ones where links aren't REALLY close to each other), and quickly clicking on a program on the taskbar.

With a touchpad, you see what you want to click on, move your hand to the touchpad, move the pointer to the object, then tap the touchpad or click the touchpad button.

With a touchscreen, you see what you want to click on, and tap it.

It doesn't sound like a big difference, but once you use it more, it's a pretty nice thing to have!

Touch interfaces certainly aren't a fad. There's a certain phone out there that has made it popular…

  • R series is resistive touch technology which must be installed internally (unless you would like to apply it externally with a packaging tape). Opening up the LCD monitor do void the warranty if it is still under warranty.

T series is optical technology which comes with 3mm toughened glass and metal frame. It can be installed externally. Just tape it on with a double-sided tape, recommand "3M" strong double-sided tape.

U series is optical technology as well. IP63 waterproof and dustproof (on the front). Has to be used with open frame LCD panel for commercial project.
