Where is the bargain? My SYD-CDG (Paris) flight was $1450/person with Korean Air.

If there's 2 people flying, I personally think for $50 more each person, Emirates may be a better option than Korean Air. Just my opinion :)

I would take Korean over Emirates any day.
Pretty much worst airline choice other than China Southern and Malaysian.

    • Same would go for discount on BMW or even Holden when you compare to Kia. Both will get you there. It is matter of comfort, level of services, reputation.
Saying that I have nothing against Korean Air, a lot of people I know flew with them with no complaints (as long as you don't mind sometime long stopover in Seoul).

  • rosebee, wouldn't it be cheaper to fly to London and take the train (Virgin, 4.5 hours, 30 pounds one way).

SYD-LON return tickets can be had around $1500+ via China southern and 1700+ via Emirates

So they almost double the price & call it a 2-4-1 sale? They must use the same marketing company as Dick Smith?

    • +4

Dicksmith would make this a 60second sale! Then promptly take down the payment server so no one could complete their order

They must use the same marketing company as Dick Smith?

Excludes: everywhere you might actually want to go

More like 20% off within the dates stated, Certainly not 50%.

Agree with most comments here. Its not most expensive, but not the ozzieB deal either.

I know the period of travel condition may not be the same, but went to Europe Oct 14 with my partner and paid around $3200 with Qantas/Emirates return including (fights cost only) stopover in Dubai, in London out Athens, and AUD$300 credit voucher and travel insurance.

When doing my research, Brunei airways had a 'best' deal (missed that one) for < $1300 return per person (but that's in and out London).

As a side note, (IMHO) if you get the A380, do spend a bit extra to book the upper deck economy (at the front) - not premium economy. Love the extra leg room and service was ridiculous! Not first class type, but never had so much food offered!

    actually this is a deal.
its certainly cheaper than their previous prices for the period.
sure you may get a cheaper flight with china southern etc but those are low quality airlines with longer flites and stopovers etc.
anyone still wanna fly malaysian or air asia?
if you want a top 5 airline and not a crappy cattle class one then this is a deal.
not super amazing but still a deal.

I think OP has made a mistake and assumed this is a two for one deal, but it isn't. I can't see that mentioned on the website. It just says "take off together for less". So it's still cheaper than buy two individual flights, but not quite two for one.

    • "fly together from 2998 for two" on jpg ad on their homepage
you wont get a single from 1499 on emirates.

Seems like great value, especially as it's during the peak season and from a premium airline. Here's a screenshot showing $2998 for 2 people Rome return ex Melbourne. Thanks OP (great first post).

  • What would be a good deal to Dubai ? Going there in mid march, just don't know whats the normal asking price… looks like about 2k return.

If you want super cheap, check out Cebu Pacific, should be sub-$1k, around $1200 you'll get Malaysian/Sri Lankan/Phillipines Air, $1500+ for Cathay. Funnily enough the gulf carriers usually charge more to get to their home ports than onwards to Europe.

  • Not a bad price for Emirates, rarely see anything sub-$1700 from these guys. Economy product on the A380 is pretty decent, but definitely recommend avoiding the 773 if you can.

  • can you stop over on way back from europe in changi for free?

  • I want to travel to Paris via korea.. $1450 is great price.. link please..

Just got an email from Entertainment book - 5% discount can be stacked
    Brings $2,998 to $2,848.10 ($1,424.05 ea)

This worked a treat for me, I ended up getting the "2 for 1" price applied to 3 tickets (Sydney - Rome return), so $1500 each. That's a good discount in my books for a quality airline with on-board wifi.
The website was originally presenting the discounted price for all 3 tickets, but the booking would eventually fail because the discount was only intended for 2 people max. After lodging an online complaint form and some haggling with the reservation centre, Emirates eventually agreed to honour the price offered even though it was an error.
Full credit to Emirates, and big thanks to OP!
