I thought I saw an ozbargain post about this a couple of days ago but I can't find it anymore.
I used it to save $100 off a booking I made at the time.

I just booked 3 nights in Singapore a couple of days ago though Hotels.com. Just comparing the prices between the 2 sites and Hotels.com still come out cheaper even with the $100 off. Just pays to shop around.

Doh. Just put a booking through www.hotelclub.com/visa/ recently. Wonder if this would have taken a little more off :(

I'm not sure about basic HotelClub but HotelClub.com/visa/ is sometimes cheapest online :)

    • Cool. Didn't know about this :)

      • You need a participating Visa card to make the actual booking, but if you're just curious about prices you can just throw in a suitable six digit prefix (such as 426534 for Citibank Visa Platinum)

Link to Bank ID Numbers: http://www.stevemorse.org/ssn/List_of_Bank_Identification_Nu…

You might find these handy for other promotions online. A while back Hilton ran a promotion for Visa Infinite users allowing them to upgrade their status to HHonors Gold by typing in the first six digits of their credit card number. A lot of people used six digit prefixes from this list to push up their Hilton Honors accounts =P

        • It's interesting that that ID number page is deleted on actual Wikipedia. I assume it was pressured by credit card companies in attempt to reduce credit card thefts…

          Edit: Nevermind

  • Thanks OP. Just booked a hotel using this deal but this one is better. Off to utilise free cancellation :)

  • Hi all, I just tried to book a night in Singapore at Marina Bay Sands for the 18th May. I found a rate of $501 for a Premier room, so $1 over the HURRY500 special. The rate did not recalculate anywhere on screen to $401, so I hoped that it might recalculate at the final stage of the transaction.

But now the shocker, re the apparently FREE CANCELLATION OFFER (which I will need because of a potential weather/flight delay for me in the days preceding). Here is the wording roughly verbatim:

We at Hotels.com won't charge you a cancellation fee however the Marina Bay Sands will charge you $502 if you cancel before the 16th May…

So the Free Cancellation offer has no meaning whatsoever. The hotel will still charge you more than the discounted room rate.

And no I didn't progress to see if the discount would be applied.

    Very disappointing.

And finally, if anyone can see an email address anywhere at all in the many pages of their site for correspondence, then cheers to you because I can't.

Hotelclub requires you to input the coupon when searching for hotels, then when the list of results shows up, you need to look for the ones listed as "Promo code eligible".
Sadly, Marina Bay Sands isn't one of those hotels.

Try searching for all hotels in Singapore rather than putting in a specific one so you can see what I mean.

I dunno, I had a look at MBS for that date and the cancellation wording exactly is:

"Free cancellation before 16:00 on 16/05/15!
If you cancel or change your reservation after 16:00 on 16/05/15, the hotel will charge you $502.
If you cancel or change your reservation after 16:00 on 18/05/15, the hotel will charge you for the total cost of your reservation."

So if you cancel before 4pm (check which timezone) on the 16th, it's no charge. But after 4pm, it's the full cost of the room.

Free cancellation doesn't mean free cancellation indefinitely, means you can cancel for free up to that time & date as specified… at least that's my interpretation.

However yeah it sucks that the coupon doesn't apply to all chains, usually excludes all major chains. I wanted to book a casino hotel in macau for easter, and the code doesn't apply for me either :(

  • While that is sad, the cancellation policy is absolutely tragic. Any insights there?

  • WOW………

"This reservation is non-refundable. Cancellations or changes made at any time are subject to a 100% charge.
If you need to change or cancel this hotel reservation, please do so through HotelClub rather than through the hotel directly."
