FREE Microsoft Office 365 Student Advantage for Qld State School Students

840

All state school students from Prep to Year 12 can now download multiple free copies of the Microsoft Office 2013 Suite to their personal home and mobile computer equipment.

Students who want the free software will need an active Managed Internet Service (MIS) login, school email account and password - those who don't have these should contact their school's MIS Administrator or class teacher. The administrator will help students activate their MIS login.

Currently, MS Office Suite 2013 is available for students' personal equipment only - not equipment which is part of a school network.

The following information has been designed to support students with the download.

If they have any further issues, they will need to speak to their MIS Administrator.

Some universities provide Office free to students, but if yours doesn't, you can purchase Office 365 for University for $99 as a 2 computer, 4 year license.

I go to ANU myself, and we get free Office 365 Home for the duration of our enrolment.

    • Monash & Melbourne both offer this as well.

    • my Uni get free i think most of them MS email one any way.

    • Swinburne gets it for free as well

    • If you go to La Trobe they are now offering it for free :)

  • What year do kids typically get a login, not aware preppies have email accounts?

    • Maybe contact the school office and see if one can be issued?

    • As far as I know, here in NSW they get DETNSW logon and e-mail in Kindergarten.

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks:
OK thought it might be that. I don't think email is very big these days so I can relate to JV's post about facebook.

    • As far as I know, here in NSW they get DETNSW logon and e-mail in Kindergarten.

In qld..it's included in there enrollment package from prep onwards.

      • interesting. where do i get these details?

        • Should be on their student ID card and the password will be set by the students or the school..just ask at the office.

    • I'm curious as to what sort of password rules are applied.

      • My guess is that the majority of the passwords would be abc123.

        • Yes, though they can be changed by the student at any time.

  • The passwords are changed on a regular basis and the schools are strict on privacy…even the parents are not allowed access.

    • I can understand a good password policy in high school, but in junior primary it has to be chaos.

From other comments it sounds like policies may be different depending on the school.

If work for a Partner organisation that is eligible for the Microsoft Home Use Program you can download full version of Office 2013 for $15 or order a disk copy for $30. You need an eligible email address and the program code of the employer. Most State Govts are in the program.
Im still running Office 2010 which seems to be an unlimited use version.
Ive heard that the current version is a two install only but I cant confirm this.

here is the link if anyone wants to check it out: http://www.microsofthup.com/hupau/home.aspx?culture=en-AU

    • Current version says it is meant to be installed once, but can do up to 2 if transfers needed, eg you get a key and a Microsoft office account to activate (either or)

Staff and Students in NSW can now get Office 365 as well by using their @education.nsw.gov.au email address for sign in.
Staff just put your DEC username @education.nsw.gov.au to access Office 365.

    • Or use the department provided software web store where you get copies of Win8.1:as well as limited amounts of Adobe software.
