Selfie Stick with Bluetooth $14.99 at ALDI (Starts 21 Feb)

881

Seems to be a decent price for a selfie stick with Bluetooth (so you don't need to use your smartphone's self-timer). Most on eBay are upwards of $20.

I thought it was impossible to look like a bigger idiot than taking holiday photos with an iPad.

    But I was very wrong.

  • +2

Just came back from a 3 month holiday. Can't live without a selfie stick now. Beats holding around a camera in your hand any day. Taking selfies with hand held cameras just doesn't have that same distance.

    • Not to mention some of them have batteries on them to charge your phone.

  • +1

My question is - Most phones have a small resolution front camera and the main one on the back. How do people frame their photo or do they just guess? Or do they use the crappy camera on the front?

    • +1

Exactly. That's the bad thing about taking selfie, you have to use the crappy front facing camera instead of the more superior back facing camera.

      • Soon enough they will bring one out with a big mirror so you can use the back camera but see the screen ;-)

  • If you don't want to make the trip to the store - selfiesource.com.au are selling em for $24.95 with free shipping. Not a bad deal - considering they're the ones with bluetooth shutter button built into the handle. Bought one for our holiday to thailand, well worth it.

On a sale from 1 to selfie stick, how Asian would I look?

    • +2

Funny you should mention that….I just got back from Vegas a literally only Asian peeps were using them. Must say they kinda look hideous/silly/stoopid. The sticks I mean not the peeps

  • Bought for 5 euros with a Bluetooth remote in Italy

  • +2

You'll be able to get one for free in a couple of years. They'll be in every second skip bin along with fit bits and the apple watch

  • I laugh at people who pay $14 for a stick with a $2 attachment. Amazing.

  • Cheap shops in my area have had these for under $5 for months now, these are the ones that have a button on the stick and a little audio jack cable just plugs into your phone so you dont need bluetooth/apps to use it.

disclaimer: .. not that I have one

People who owns one of these instantly qualifies for DSM Disorder 301.81 : http://behavenet.com/node/21653

Everything I hate about the modern world can be summarized by the phrase: "What's in it for me". These 'narcissism wands' are the perfect symbol of such a selfish, uncaring, egocentric worldview.

    • Have you been outside a capital city? There is often no one around to ask to take your photo (esp. away from tourist traps).

My arm is just not long enough to frame my partner, myself and my subject behind me properly.

It's nice to have photos as they help remind me what I found special about a certain place.

Yes, this is all about me and my loved ones, but so is any outing. Why not value add and get some great group photos.

gone are the days when you ask a stranger to help you take a photo.

I call this the anti-social stick.

    • Easier to trust a stranger to hold a $150 digital point and shoot than a $1000 phone. Then again if they run off with your phone you can hit them with this stick ;-)

    • I call it the narcissi-stick

  • Ive just got back from USA and selfie stickS were $19.99 at Walgreens +8.1% Tax which made them $21.61USD

  • The other problem is your using your front camera and that is always worst than the rear.

  • Because my girl friend likes to be spanked with it

    • Use a golf club instead. Preferable an iron or a number 1 driver with the biggest club head. Hey, no pain, no game :P

dont buy a selfie stick… dont selfie.. seriously was at a tourist place the other day and this tourist dad shouted c'mon everyone SELFIE….. facepalm x 1000…. seriously… as mentioned before

Selfie sticks symbolise everything that is wrong with todays society.

I just live in the moment - I hate these people that can't go anywhere without photographing everything

    • As you get older you loose many moments.

And some people just never get out, so the one time a year they do every thing is special.

  • Its gods gift to married men when their wife asks, "Honey, does my butt look big in this?".

  • Bradley Cooper should have used one of these selfie sticks in last year's Academy Award ceremony.

  • 21st of Feb? Have any Aldi stores broken street date yet?

  • Society these days changed so much. Ask someone to take a photo for you is easier and cost nothing.

Unless you go to dodgy places and don't trust the camera holder, or no one is near you which of course when you travel might encounter. I think it's because less trust on strangers hence a need for these selfie sticks

Anyway cheap point and shoot cameras won't have this problem. It's cause people use their expensive phones to take photos and not willing to get someone to hold it of course

    • Next minute.. stranger runs away with your cheap point and shoot with memory card and photos on board.

      • -1

Hence you use a blank one before handing over

        • Seriously? Do you have to reformat your card every time you want to ask a stranger to take photo for you? Or do you have to carry like 10 spare blank memory cards with you all the time?

Also I don't want cheap P&S camera with its crappy photo quality. I like my DSLR, Olympus OMD EM5 and iPhone.

  • I saw someone actually use one yesterday. I felt sorry for her so I offered to take a picture for her instead

    • Did you break her selfie stick in half afterward?

      • +1

        That's just rude

$12 delivered aust seller from ebay

    20% cheaper than this deal

    (please forgive me Aldi)

    • +1

      Price shown $15

Bluetooth Shutter is seperate from the stick.

Aldi still cheaper for better product.

      • -2

        was $12 8 hours ago.

  • just got one this morning from nearby Aldi, really good and this is without remote (bluetooth shutter press button in the stick), easy return to Aldi if something goes wrong

    • Does the bluetooth shutter works with your phone, and which phone is that?

      • mine is iPhone 6 and worked flawlessly, tried with every settings without any lag (video, slow-mo, timelapse, burst and normal), bluetooth paired instantly, comes with a retainer which i guess handy for small-sized phone, 1year warranty, very recommended

        • +1

          very recommended

          much thanks

    • I've never seen one of these up close.. does this mean you have to recharge the selfie stick pretty often to keep the remote going?

      • Correct, mini USB charge cable is plug to the handle and battery should be ok for normal use

  • Went there 11am nothing left at local Aldi

    Ozbargained.

    • My local Aldi was all sold out also
