I always was curious, TRENT, how do you get deals that are not live yet?

    • +6

I don't, I just know they haven't made it live :) The homepage banner was added like 30 min ago :)

      • +2

Ohhh, that would explain a lot. I was thinking, this person must have a mole in TGG and JB HiFi or something. What you said is more reasonable than my explanation.

Anyways, kudos for sharing those deals with OzBargain.

  • +8

Haha.. Maybe he is from the future

    • +10

      Quick, grab his almanac!

      • +7

I've got it already (as well as Ooh-la-la!)

    • +2

      TRENT1000

  • Sorry how does the bonus store credit work? Banner doesn't say anything.

Edit: never mind click through explains all

    • You must pick up in store to get bonus credit. If you click banner it will explain it on the page it opens

      • online and instore can have $20 credit

        • This offer is only available for applicable purchases made online at www.thegoodguys.com.au and not available for purchases made in The Good Guys local stores or on The Good Guys eBay Outlet.

        • @TRENT86: I just bought the phone by came to the store.I have phone and the gift card $20.I can offer the receipt if you want

        • @ylangylang55: All good all I can do is go by their terms. Maybe they were told to offer because of the online problems :)

        • @ylangylang55: Just picked up one as well; but the store people said that the $20 credit would be email and did not get the gift card on the spot.

        • +1

@owaissharaq: so do you have a credit through email?

        • @owaissharaq: so do you have a credit through email?

        • @ylangylang55:
Apparently so. I am still waiting for mine.

  • +1

Awesome price. Just received Lollipop update too.

Main page shows that offer price but not the actual product page yet.

    • Yeah they are a few hrs late updating the price

    • Also received lollipop last week . I was beginning to think it was never goig to happen .

  • So clicking through, it doesn't say dual sim, but perhaps that is just TGG description crapness. If someone can confirm that would be great.

And on my browser, this ozbargain listing there is a googleadservices ad 'Moto G with 4G $219' for TGG but the link routes to blank :(

    • +2

      XT1068 model is dual 3G

The older 4G single is $249

      • Think I'd prefer the 4g any day after having it on my nexus… Will take the performance hit and grab a moto g 4g..

  • +1

This is a great phone for the price. I picked up the old 4G version for the wife just before the v2 came out, and I would happily use this in place of my HTC m7. The only thing on the phone that feels like a compromise is the camera. Everything else feels more than good enough.

  • Come on price! Go live already!

  • Sorry, but is it only 3G?

  • +3

So many Moto G, they really need to sort the names/models out to avoid confusion, so is this the latest variant of it (Gen 3)?.

    • The title says its 2nd gen. That is also the latest generation of the phone. The only variant between the models are 4g and 3g versions.

  • When I clicked on the offer, the proce shown is $268 and NOT $219.

    • +2

Yeah read post and comments man :)

      • Trent86 to who are you replying?

        • +2

TC168. On your Q. This is the 2ND Gen 2014 model

        • @TRENT86:

You should have checked out the price that I was trying to point out.

        • +1

@TC168: Lol Yeah man I know that's why I said check post because post says there is a pricing error in the IT System

  • +2

    Thanks Trent86.

  • Waiting for price to go live. Will drive to local store at 10am.can't miss this deal unless it is another screw up like Harvey Norman increased the price from $335 to $392 for huawei ascend p7 on their cheap Thursday night

    • +1

This deal doesn't apply to stores :( I just called them up and they know about the problem and are fixing it

  • Does it mean it is still $268 and you get $20 store credit

    • +1

Nah it will be $219 & $20 store credit like the post says But there is an ERROR in the IT System so they are fixing it

      • +1

Still not fixed, Good Guys?!? More like Slow Guys…..

        • +1

Yeah should give us extra $5 off for making us wait

        • @TRENT86:
          Still waiting…

        • @Dan83: I've been waiting since post nearly 7 hrs lol, at least this deal goes till Monday night so should be plenty of time to grab one :)

  • +2

Just picked one up from store for $219 but not getting online $20 credit. Each store only have around 5 units.

  • -5

There are so many options at this price if you are willing to import, 1gb of ram isn't really enough IMO

    • +11

What would you buy for $250 delivered? Any suggestions?

      • +8

Yes, can't put that kind of comment out on OzBargain without helping your colleagues. LINKS or it's not true! :D

        • I was looking at this $200-250 price range of phones for the wife to replace a Nexus 4, and just ended up stumping the extra to get a LG G2 D802. I ended up getting an import off ebay for $299 delivered, but ive noticed that seller is now selling them for $380ish. My other pick was going to be a second hand Xperia Z1.

Although this phone at $219+$20 credit may be hard to beat, but I dont think its worth it at $250.

        • @tissue:
I got the Moto G 2nd Gen to replace a nexus 4 and it is noticeably slower but the battery life is much better and it has a bigger screen so for me it was an upgrade . The competition is constantly evolving and this was speed wise not an improvement on the first gen Moto G , So it's starting to get a bit dated now . At $200 it's still a solid proposition and I don't think you can go wrong but I'll agree at $250 is starts to lose it's appeal .

        • Thanks…

There is a good thread on Whirlpool; http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2296209&p…

GearBest has a good feature selector for Android, not always the best pricing.

          Good brands to keep an eye on include;
          Xaiomi, Elephone, Ulefone, THL, Doogee.

I bought a refurbed LG G2 (as new) for $300. Its a nice piece of kit at that price.

Let me know what you think.

        • Got one of these for my wife - the 4G white version. She loves it.
5.25 inch screen, quad core (though only 1.2GHz), SD card slot. 1.5 Gb of RAM.
One of the best thing is replaceable 2600 battery which is the same battery that the S4 uses, so should be able to get in the future when replacement is needed.

I know it is $329, but you can get the pink 3G but dual sim version for $279

          http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=gala…

          Full specs:
          http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_grand_2-5862.php

          Cheers.

        • @x d:

Also looking for a replacement phone for my wife.

She has an old Samsung Galaxy Nexus i9250, and since she's on her phone all waking hours, the 1750mAh battery has never been up to the task. It's now a few years old and lasts about 2 hours lol. Need a replacement, the main focus is strong battery or support strong (3000+mAh) battery.

Under $300 preferably. Raw speed not vital as most will be an improvement over her Dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 / 1GB RAM.

        • +1

@Click_It: Maybe the Galaxy Grand 2 Duos would be something you should look at, $279-$299.

My wife uses it all the time, leaves WI-FI on always, and the 2600 mAh battery I think still has 40-60% at the end of the day. She doesn't play games or watch videos but does Facebooking, constant SMS'ing, and reading books using Overdrive.

The 5.25 inch screen is quite good if you need to surf the net with Samsung's browser or Chrome and we had no problems from unique mobiles. Lots of accessories from HK if you need them, as this phone is only sold over there. I have thrown into it a 64GB micro SD card for her to use for photos and videoing our children's development.

I reckon if battery duration is critical and the 2600mAh is not lasting enough for your wife, maybe throw in a Xiaomi 10400 mAh battery pack into her handbag and she will be fine. Otherwise, get what I have for myself - a Nokia 1520 which I am absolutely amazed with (though now hard to find in Aus) - not a heavy user, not on it much at all for talk or text, but would have WIFI on and surf from time to time, with battery saver mode on, and automatic screen brightness, I would have 90% of battery left at the end of the day!

          Cheers.

  • Would office works price match this?

    • +3

They would match it but you will not get the $20 credit and by the looks most stores are out @ OW

      • thanks.

    • +2

After about 15 minutes of the staff researching, talking to managers, etc. I was able to price match + discount and get it for $208.05

      http://i.imgur.com/7n1p9xb.jpg

  • I got mine from JB Hifi 12 days ago for $268 but unfortunately can't find a price matching policy on their website.

  • +1

I got this phone bundled with a Chromecast back when that deal was on and its really great (that's proved to have been an exceptional deal too I might add).

pretty easy to get it rooted and there are a decent number of options for custom ROMs if that's your thing.

  • Still waiting for the price to be $219 :(

    • The need a new system. If this was Dick smith it would have been fixed in 5 mins

  • Damn very nice price. Pity I bought 2 @ at Costco for $235 at few weeks ago.

  • How's the battery life? I've been using a Nexus 5 for a while now, and the battery life is starting to crap me up the wall.

  • 1gb ram kills it. I have one and The slowness annoys the hell out of me.

    • it would be a couple of hundreds of dollars more if it had 2 GB ram.

      • Not quite true, there's plenty of phones with 2GB of ram with similar pricing, or slightly more expensive. Certainly not "couple of hundreds of dollars more". Moto G is not the only budget phone out there you know ;)

        • But they are not dual-sim phones.

        • @ddhytz:

Have a look at this one and my post above: Dual SIM, though only 1.5 GB of RAM and not 2 as you ask for.

          http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=gala…

        • +1

          @ddhytz:
          Wrong.
This is just one example: http://www.pandawill.com/lenovo-vibe-x2-smartphone-4g-lte-mt…

Better screen, bigger ram, better CPU, 4G, dual SIM, even the same company (yes, Moto is now officially Chinese)

        • +1

          @clse945111:
Not bad phone. But unfortunately it does not have 3G 850MHz, no good for many OZ users.

        • +1

          @ddhytz:
Which is why I stated only one example, there are other phones with more bands supported, especially the Elephone P3000S supports all 3G and most 4G for only US$170.
Not to mention this Moto G doesn't have 4G, which to me is "no good for many OZ users" as well.

        • @clse945111:
I should have made it clearer. Without 3G 850 MHz that phone is useless for Telstra users and probably VF users as well.

        • @ddhytz:
But perfectly good for Optus users.
Look, I've already pointed out there are MANY phones around the price point. If you use VF or big T, a phone with 850 can be easily found, usually comes with 2100 as well which probably covers half of Optus. 4G is also quite a big deal as well, though no Telco in OZ do voLTE yet, but most people I know and myself rarely call… Data is far more important for people like us. Back to the point, 2GB of ram doesn't really cost that much more.

      • +1

I long for a deal like the $250 Nexus 4 again, that has 2GB of ram. I looked into this moto G to see if it would be an upgrade from the Nexus 4 and it seemed the answer is pretty much no.

        • Can you buy brand new nexus 4 anywhere now?

        • @mokibria: Can't see how. I got a couple (refurbished) a few months ago - www.ozbargain.com.au/node/167236.
Updated it not long after to Lollipop and we (wife) love them except now for some reason getting a couple of minor issues (eg. mine sometimes turns itself off for no known reason.)

  • +7

Just price matched this at Officeworks for $208. They were VERY reluctant to do the price match.

  • Thanks! Just got one from Bayswater Vic store. They had a few more in stock.

  • great deal, bough the DSE deal previously. love the phone.

  • -2

Hi all Ozbargainers, I am looking to buy LG G3. Can you please what's the best price in the market at the moment.

    • Looking on whirlpool it seems like the best price is $454 (3GB RAM, 16GB internal memory) from t-dimension.

Stock seems to be very low? Dick Smith and The Good Guys either don't sell it or don't have any in stock? JB Hi-Fi has the 2GB RAM one for $648.

    • Don't know about the G3 But you can get the G2 32GB For $409 @ DSE Today only

  • +2

    Price corrected!

  • Price finally went live. Order placed. Cheers

  • Too late. Went to office works and got it for $208.

    • PS. No reluctance.

      • +3

Should have waited and got the $20 store credit to use on the next good deal $9 stretches a long way on ozbargain :)

        • +3

In the end I have $11 more in my pocket and I can spend it anyway I feel.

  • Thanks Trent! :)

Did anyone have any issues with getting the $20 store credit?

  • Can anyone help with these questions?

NFC? How long do you get to pick up in store?

    • +7

How long do you get to pick up in store?

Sorry, I have NFC about that! :p

    • +1

NFC I don't think so. On store pick up, I guess when you can pick it up. The $20 credit will be sent to you through email so you do not have to collect it
