The overnight chargers (+ 4 packs of AAs’) are also $14.95

    Links:
    8 pack AAs'
    8 pack AAAs'
    Overnight Charger plus 4 AAs'

    • Can the overnight chargers be used to charge AAA batteries as well?

      • yeah do they?
i need AA and AAA charger….

      • Yep they sure can. It's a shorter charging time due to the AAA capacity.

    • Can regular chargers be used to recharge these?

    • Charger with AAA would be a hot sale

      • The Aldi LSD aaa 4 pack for $6.99 are very good.

  • Their homepage banner had 20% off Eneloops last night… packs of 8 for $40
    o_O

  • What's the best way of cancelling an order, something went wrong with my browser and I've ordered AAA's damnit.

    • +1

call the help line (but make a coffee first as they take a while to answer - in my experience)

      • Cheers, got through fast, apparently to be cancelled, we'll see!

  • +3

Mandatory + vote for Eneloop deal

  • +4

Very nice; I've been waiting (not long) for this.

  • double post, please ignore!

  • Thanks OP. Was beating myself up last week for missing out on battery deals and this comes just in time!

    • here to help!

  • still waiting for that smart charger thingamagic… :(

  • +2

+delivery it is > $20 for me, so not a good deal.

doesn't even allow pick up, starting to think dse is pulling an ebay postage pricing trick.

    • $5.95 for me.

    • That 'trick' really aggravates me. At least ebay now let's you sort by price + postage, and every item has postage stated

    • When I just went on to their site, I noticed it says that it is a 'WAREHOUSE WIPEOUT SALE!, Online Exclusive Offer, Offer ends today!" - so that explains why it's not available via click'n'collect. Handy thing with the postage is it applies to the order, not per item. So you can grab a couple of packs for $5.95 postage.

Honestly DSE just make sh1t up as they go along:

"Tech takeover", "markdown mayhem", "audio attack", "outrageous deals", "heart pumping deals", "australia day madness", "wacky wednesday", "BOOM!", "knockout rewards", "knockout sale", "click frenzy sale", "the frenzy continues", "megatastic rewards", "yellow madness", "race in savings", "massive online sale, ends midnight", "EXTENDED!", "thursday madness", "flash sale", "INSANE online only offers", "meet your destiny", "EXPLOSIVE EOFYS Extravaganza", "super sale", "SCORE!"…

        "WAREHOUSE WIPEOUT"

        See?

"Tick…Tick…Tick! Don't Miss Out!", "Hurry!", "Exclusive!"

It's all designed to create a perpetual sense of urgency; to make you feel like you're always about to miss out on something really important.

But it's just hyperbolic nonsense that everyone should try to immunize themselves against. There's really no need to fret about missing out on some Dick Smith super special because they just recycle them endlessly.

        • OMG I missed "yellow madness". Hope they run it again. I will hold out.

  • Still waiting on my Eneloop order from last time from these guys.

    • +1

Mine sent Feb 4 from the Feb 2nd or Jan 31 (think it was this one) deal.
You may want to chase it up with them…

Was $5.95 delivery for 2 x AAA tropicals last time too.
Tropicals are better than the Chocolate's I think :)

      • Yep it was from the 4th. I will chase them up as you've suggested.

  • +1

shows click & collect but shows out of stock everywhere in Adelaide, home delivery is + $5.95 so makes it > $20 so I agree with slowmo, not a good deal.

    • in a way I agree with you, why have the click and collect when no store has physical stock of it but to be fair, the past few times these DSE eneloop sales have been on, it has been the same conditions ie. shipping only.

If you can buy a few and share the shipping cost with friends (up to 8 packs when I tried is still showing $5.95 shipping to VIC) then it's still a pretty good deal.

      • That's what I did last time - I bought a few packs so it worked out pretty good for the postage. Plus it was a courier with tracking…

Just purchased my first set of Eneloops. Very happy to finally join the club!

    • +6

Ozbargain has claimed another soul for its dark master, Eneloop.

    • Me too! Winning.

    • What a shame you weren't around to see the good old days of quality Eneloops!

  • Anybody using Eneloops to power their Panasonic Oral Irrigator's from this Amazon deal?
The Panasonic manual says not to use rechargeable batteries… as it might leak and cause corrosion.

    • +1

Manufacturers often say not to use rechargeables and they give different reasons or no reason at all. I often use rechargeables despite that.

Regarding leaks, that depends a lot on the quality of the battery, rechargeable or not. It also depends on the conditions, rechargeable or not. (eg. hot conditions, very infrequent changes, battery left (neglected) a long time in a heavily drained state, wet/corrosion.)

    • +2

Leaking batteries is the reason I have switched almost everything to rechargeable batteries.

Quality of non-rechargeable batteries seems to have dropped in recent years regardless of brand I've had them all leak.

I think there is much less risk with good rechargeable batteries, I have not had one rechargeable battery leak, I mainly have eneloops but also have some of the hobby king lsd batteries, they are also good.

    • +1

Mainly an issue of lower voltage… 1.2V instead of 1.5V per battery - may not give same result from device.

    • +1

im using a irrigator with eneloops. no worries with mine.

  • +2

got the charger deal as was the only one with local pickup available

  • +1

Even with delivery, if you buy 2 or more it comes out cheap! I even used some of the $10 vouchers for $5 from last year, so 3 packs were $30 cash (now) with delivery!

Should keep me going till the next sale!

When will they ever put the XX high power ones on sale?

    • "When will they ever put the XX high power ones on sale?"

Yes, these ones are relatively low capacity, which keeps me from pulling the trigger.

I will make do with juggling a constrained supply of rechargeables for now. (Imedion type, which have low self-discharge like Eneloops.)

  • Tropicals are $17.98, worth the extra $3?

    • -1

      Not for an ozbargainer :P
The only difference is colour, so unless you especially hate brown, go for these.

      • +1

I thought the tropicals were supposed to be made in Japan or have a higher capacity, cant recall where I heard that so could be wrong

        • Ah, you may well be right.
According to the website they're the same capacity, but they may be made in Japan or somewhere else.

        • They use to be, but people who have received the Tropicals lately have said they're made in China.

        • +1

Latest stock is made in China, and Panasonic branded - the packaging on the DSE site is wrong. Here is a photo of the eneloops I got in the last special - about a month ago. And it's only cosmetic differences as far as tropical vs choco - depends if the colour is worth the extra 40c per battery to you…

        • Yep forget what the picture shows, it's BS! If you take a look at the actual product code you'll see that it's not the HR-3U**** Japanese batteries, but the BK-3M**** Chinese made ones!

  • Aren't the regular Eneloops usually $20 for 4 ? If so how is $15 for 8 not a good deal ? Bought 2 x 8 packs for $36 delivered. I'm happy - only a couple of days ago I realised I needed a few more. (As if you can ever have enough, right). I can now throw out some of my old (non-Eneloop) batteries my Maha C9000 is reporting as dead ("High").

    • Here here, exactly what I've done (especially since buying a little pocket DAB+ radio that loves to chew through AAA batteries!)

      • +3

Belbo, where have you been member since March 2012?
$15.00 for 8 delivered is standard price for Professionals.

        • +1

LOL. I'm obviously not price sensitive enough - probably a bit of a let down to the Ozbargain community. Give me a few more years to up my game. I suppose it was a case of a good enough bargain at the right time for me. Pity they're not the Japanese version - but sometimes you just have to say what the hell. It looks like this is as good as it gets at the moment - or at least this time around. BTW Mine arrived today.

    • No one's saying it isn't a good deal, but it has become pretty much a standard deal!
What you may find some mentioning also, is the fact that they're just the Chinese ones.

  • How are these compared to the Sanyo?

  • -1

    are these made in Japan?

    • Probably not, there's always a chance you might get lucky and someone stumbles onto some old Japanese stock just as they're fulfilling your order but all recent reports have been of people receiving Panasonic Chinese made 'Eneloops'.

    • +2

Designed by Panasonic in Japan. Assembled in China.

-that's the way Apple would say it.

    • Not 'probably not'… Just simply 'no, they're not!'

  • Panasonic Eneloop Mobile Booster Black. These are in the same sale for $9.98, reduced from $29.98.
Has anybody got any reports on these? Seem like a good price, but being only 2,650 mAh fully charged, not too sure.

    • I have 2, haven't opened them yet though. Should be good for running flat at the end of the day and needing a little extra juice to get home.

  • +1

    Thx all

    Bought

    Charger+4AA
    8x AA
    8x AAA

    for $50 delivered

    Cheep cheep

    • good one, i do the same!
      good deal

      • same, $5 for not having to move is ok by me.

  • Been a while since they've had an Eneloop deal with click and collect

  • I have joined the dark side

  • No click and collect on gold coast

  • I hope i don't get banned but i think i may have enough eneloops ;(

  • Thanks, needed more eneez.

  • You guys should really get commission for selling these eneloops.. not only did I just buy my first set, I just ended up buying my first FOUR sets… thanks guys!! now I gotta get back to work so I can pay these suckers off!! haha

  • -1

Considering investing in my first set of eneloops + charger :/

  • +1

Do you need a special charger with eneloops? Anyone recommend a specific charger brand and model to get and approx price to try to get it for? Thanks

    • This is the ultimate charger http://www.mahaenergy.com/mh-c9000/ but any decent charger will do.

      • I have an eveready NiMH battery charger. It goes by a timer like this basic one. Will that do the same job?

        • Preferably not. Problem with a timed cooker is that you don't know exactly how long you need to bake them for! What if they've still got a bit of juice left? Does the timed charger know if you've got 1, 2 or more batteries in to adjust the load accordingly?

        • I'm not expert but if the battery is 2000mah, if your charger can do not more than 1000mah, it would be fine.
if its lower, then it will take longer period of time to recharge.

  • +2

thought of delaying my purchase of these bargain eneloops again but finally took the plunge just because "warehouse wipeout sale". thanks OP!

    • +4

Yeah because you might have to wait a week or two for another sale if you don't buy now.

  • +1

Broke two records here. Firstly I bought my first eneloops with charger. :)
Secondly, I bought it earlier today, but now having second thoughts after reading that the charger is crap :(
I'm still not pro enough, anyone got a solution?

    • +1
      • Thanks mate :)

    • Or Masters still have the older Jap batteries with quick (smart) charger. But I think they want something like $40 for it now. I bought a few when they flogged them off for $20!

    • Interesting they post about Japan vs China eneloops. Mine just arrived from this bargain, Chinese ones.
I guess the issue is here, are they even going to bother continuing to manufacture them in Japan? Once the Chinese ones are 'good enough' they'll just stop production of the Japanese facility for the sake of $$

      • Batteries are still being produced by FDK in Japan. Problem is Pano decided to pick up their bat and ball and let someone else have a play with it elsewhere (China)!
Fujitsu is still made in Japan by FDK, and rumour has it that some parts of the world still see Eneloops come from Japan. (although I would like to see absolute confirmation of this!)

        • Well mine finished charging this morning so I'll find out.
Many products world wide are going to China, some of them (most) lower quality, over time, depending on customer feedback and the brand name, they'll improve.

China is capable of putting out some good stuff, my Xioami (?) USB battery pack thing is a complete beast, one of the best you can buy. It's sad that so many things turn to shit when they go to China but sooner or later the quality places will prevail if people are willing to pay.

  • All I will say on these is that I'm spewing I didn't buy a heap more UOMOs when COTD was flogging them off cheaply!
Ps. Well done OP to get over a hundred + votes on this deal. ???

  • +2

There is something I'd like to share with OzBargain, something that happened early this month. It was when these were not on sale. I needed AAA batteries so I basically used expired deal's link to go to Dick Smith. Much to my surprise, the expired deal link was still active and even though going through the normal means, i.e. Via DSE website, showed them as 50, I managed to buy them at 15.

    • In short, I Dick-Smith'ed the Dick Smith. I am proud of myself.

  • Wow, received mine today. This is by far and away the quickest Dick service I have ever received. Last time I bought something off them (a Chromecast) it took over a month to get to me…

  • Which charger was the better one? The quick charge or the overnight one?

  • +1

lol .. such a big box for 3 packets of batteries

    • How bloody annoying and wasteful… My two packs could have easily fit in the letter box, but instead since I wasn't home I had to go and pick them up at the post office. Ridiculous Dick!!!
