  • Hi,
Could you please confirm if Samsung Galaxy S4 is compatible to be used for T Mobile 4G ? The phone does not have 1700 Mhz whilst at Mobile requires both 1700 and 2100 to make it work.
    Thanks

    • Apologies Edit* The Galaxy S4 is only compatible with 3G, However our customers who have this handset have reported great data speeds with no restrictions.

  • I just wanted to say I ordered the Thailand sim for my sister the other day and they delivered it in a few days, she used it as of last Friday in Bangkok it activated by it self but did need to call the call centre for the APN settings. She said English and they sent the settings.

$2 is an absolute bargain and i just got 10 for my friends (we are going in a large group) this May.

The only feedback I would provide the site is that a confirmation email and maybe a email to advise the sim has been sent would be great.

Thanks guys, I would highly recommend!!

    Edit: travel sim direct

I ordered 7min ago and you edited it 2min ago are you able to supply the nano sms I ordered?

    • Hi tooten69,
Yes we are! Your big order pushed the nanos just into sold out!
Thanks for the feedback, will take it all on board and strive to get better in every way possible!

  • Hi OP. What SIM do you recommend for a 30 day trek in Italy/Croatia/France. After Data as well as calls/text

    Cheers

    • +1

      Hi dazzywazzy,
Unfortunately there isn't a SIM specifically for multiple countries across Europe. The best product we have is our World SIM that can be used across the globe. There is decent call and SMS rates with this card but data isn't great rates on it.

    • There are lots of global roaming voice and/or data SIM cards. Try ekit or Telestial. There's also Tru and companies like Lyca. Try a Google search for global SIM cards. Most are pretty competitive too even in the USA.

  • Hi Store Rep,
For the Japan Softbank sim is there any cap on speed after a certain amount of data used per day?
    Thanks

    • HI bulaviti, there is no cap, so we recommend to turn off automatic notifications on your phone to save data. Or if you're a heavy user, you can purchase a couple of SIMs : )

      • Thanks. I see it says 3G - do you have typical download speed numbers? Surely it has to be faster than our 3G !

        • Typical download speed is 7.2 Mbps to 21 Mbps

        • Thanks for the info. Cheers

        • @TravelSIMSDirect:
I have never seen 3G speeds like that on T-Mobile in the USA!

As a rule, T-Mobile has always been pretty slow for me. AT&T has been better, but only marginally. 7.2-21 is slated maximums for 3G with HSDPA+.

        • @drewbles: That is very interesting that you have experienced relatively slow speeds for both carriers. Can I ask where in the States you travelled and what phone? Thanks!
EDIT: and the quoted speeds about were for the Japan data SIM!

        • +1

          @TravelSIMSDirect:
Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston, Miami, Orlando, New Orleans, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Fort Lauderale, New York, Brooklyn, New Jersey, San Francisco and may other places. All the majors basically. This was on iPhone 5/5S/6. Have tried other handsets too. It's just that the 3G networks have been so congested.

        • softbank 3g is meant to be really slow - I read about on the lonely planet site. Also check this vid out showing the speeds (which confirm exactly what was said in the forums - extremely slow download and upload is 10 times faster than download.

        • Thanks PVA for the heads-up. I read good reviews for the so-net pre-paid sims for Japan. May look at that as an alternative.

          Cheers

  • Thanks heading to Thialand in September, just bought 2

  • will nexus 5 work well in, LA, San Fran, San diego etc?

    • T-Mobile has fantastic coverage in all Major Cities in the States so it definitely will work well on your phone.

  • just missed out on this deal :(.. going to Thailand in May. Sounds like a good deal

  • Re Thailand I would not recommend Dtac/Telenor as a service provider unless you speak Thai. Things like the continual stream of text message alerts you will get only appear in thai - I tried several times to change this myself and in shops and could not. It's not worth the hassle just get a TrueMobile sim at the airport for free.

    • I personally wouldn't recommend True. I think DTAC and AIS are pretty good.

I am not sure how accurate this is but if your going to Thailand and you only want mobile data

      http://thaiprepaidcard.com/ais/

1GB AIS package Internet 1GB (prepaid only) 7 Days 100 Baht
      64 Mbps 7773202*316358#

From my investigation this package looks to cheapest.

      • You're right in terms of the packages available. My view is more along the lines of customer service the annoy messages you get popping up in thai on Dtac etc which are impossible to get rid of.

  • +1

Thailand now requires all prepaid SIMs to be registered with a name and address as from 1 July. Those not registered may be shut down.

I am not sure of the impact on SIMs such as this, but it may be worth checking before purchasing.

    • +1

Hi jackspratt, the registration applies for local prepaid SIMS not the travel SIM created for travellers.

      • OK - thanks for clarifying that.

  • Hey OP, heading to america and mexico in march for a few weeks (los angeles, cancun, miami, orlando) - just wondering what sim do you suggest for me and two friends, 2 of us have an iphone 5c and one has a iphone 5. (not too fussed if it dont work in cancun, just america will be fine

What do you suggest and willl the speeds be ok? or possibly unusable?

Apologies for the newbie question - haven't done my research just yet in regards to sims and companies up there.

    • Hi alvy,
By far the best combination of value for money and quality of service we would recommend the T-Mobile Prepaid SIM Card. We current have in stock the 5GB and Unlimited SIM cards on sale.
For a full description of the product this would be a good place to read a bit up:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/183469

  • Bugger, Japan would have been nice. 6 of us are going there shortly.

    • We are close to getting more stock in. Not sure if it will be in time for this sale though. When are you going mate?

      • Can you please clarify what sold out means as the web site allows one to add the $40 Japan ones to the cart and proceed to checkout with the payment options- is it the $25 ones that are sold out as your above reply implies that you do not have any Japan Sims left? Thanks

        • Hi bulaviti, unfortunately our current site allows items to be added to cart even when sold out. We are completely out of the Japan sims, hence why we put the price back up, as well as the SOLD OUT sign to stop people from proceeding. Sorry about that!

        • Thanks - hopefully there will be more stock soon. Will you post another OZBargain entry to indicate more stock at the deal price?

        • @bulaviti: If we get it in quickly before the deal ends yes, if not might not get to. But I am sure there will be another deal down the line soon!

    • I usually rent a 4G pocket wifi hotspot whenever I go to Japan. It comes with unlimited data and good coverage. If you miss out, check out globaladvancedcomm. Not as cheap as these SIMs though, but unlimited data, and convenient.

    • Not til May but that's soon enough the way the year is going.

I expect to get a sim each for the GF and I and rent a pocket WIFi or 2 for the kids to use. We're only going for a week. I was just over there and used a sim from datago. Worked great but maybe a little pricey if I'm buying a few.

      Cheers

      • Will let you know once they are in and hopefully it works out for you :)

  • Hi Store Rep

I have had a look at the compatible phones however cannot locate the HTC Desire HD in the listing? Can you please confirm if the unlimited SIM will work?

    • I bowpeep46,
It will definitely be compatible, though I don't think the phones frequencies will experience the full 4GB LTE Data speeds that T-Mobile is capable of in many major capitals.

  • How long will it take to ship one of the tMobile SIMs to Canberra?

    • Hi gk0r, it's next business day dispatch. With express post (for $3.95) you can expect it the next business day. Regular post is usually 2-4 business days, but in some instances can take up to 7 days.

      • Awesome - thanks for quick response rep. Order placed :)

  • I received mine today, but i only got 1 of the 2 i ordered. do they come in separate envelopes, or did the order get messed up?

    • Hi Heiznberg, hopefully it didn't get left behind! Can you please PM or email us your order details and we can look into it ASAP? Thanks

      • i sent an email to you, with the paypal receipt
