But the one plus two is only a month or so away and geek buying have it for $538 presale http://m.geekbuying.com/item/ONEPLUS-TWO-5-5inch-Smartphone-…

    • +2

Pre sale is US$538 so about AU$689

    • EDIT: Beat me to it. USD not AUD

    • edit Bahaha multipost beaten.

Yeah anyway, that's about $200 more. And at ~$700 you could possibly squeeze that into a big brand phone locally.

    • +1

I think that's a fake or at least estimated pricing with estimated specs. Almost all details about the oneplus 2 are rumors, so I would wait until Oneplus releases actual specs, pictures and pricing before pre-ordering it from a third-party

      • +1

Totally agree - it's a fake, or fan-render with a wish-list of specs. Virtually nothing is known about the 1+2 so far and there's no way I'd be risking spending money on that thing…especially when OnePlus are very unlikely to launch with Cyanogen.

    • +1

      I'm calling fake on that

      • +1

I agree with the above two - addition of an sd card slot with all other specs looking like a small tweak on the first. It'd be nice, but I can't see that as an addition to a 64 gig phone builts as powerful as cheaply possible when even Samsung are bailing out of sd slots…

    • Sorry guys, didn't realize it was in US dollars, I was just excited about the screen to edge ratio, must be the smallest edge in the market or at least when its available for sale. I am sure the market experts at the big brands have worked out smaller edges look more modern and are just trying to limit the reduction with each model to leave space for obvious (stupid people) upgrades.

      • From phones that are actually in the market, I think the 'Sharp Aquos Crystal' has the smallest screen to edge ratio. The bezels on the oneplus two ( it looks like a fan render btw) would make it quite unpractical, atleast to me. It will probably not survive any sort of drop, a clip on cover is nearly impossible to put on, lots of accidental clicking and where would the front camera go?

  • NOT Cyanogenmod version!

**This is Chinese Version with Flashed Cyanogemod rom. No CyanogenMod wording on the backcover, Google Play will be pre-installed before order fulfillment. No earphone included in the box.

If I really wanted the OnePlus One, I'd just spend a bit more and order from their website on Tuesdays when no invites are required.

    • +1

Yes, but if you buy direct from OnePlus direct (which I presume is what you're saying), you must use a trans-shipper and pay in US$, and you have absolutely no warranty or service support. I do recognise though that people have different preferences, and if you prefer to buy direct like chewki is suggesting, OnePlus do now offer a Tuesday window to buy without an invite.

@chewki is there really any problems with the vendor loading CyanogenMod onto the Chinese/International OnePlus One? Don't you end up with exactly the same ROM?

      • From memory I believe bands are different between the International version and the Chinese version, but I am not 100% sure as I've lost interest in the phone some time back.

        • +3

Yes different bands (does not affect Australians if you buy Chinese version, unless they travel)

      • Oneplus One chinese version:
        No warranty
        No Service Support

        Oneplus One Global version:
        Global warranty
        Service Support

        • Ok, you win. Can you post info on OnePlus One Global Warranty?

        • @norkle: Don't have much time to do that, but here is what I could find:
          First Year Warranty*
Device Claim Period: 1 year after purchase
Access. Claim Period: 180 days after purchase
          Repair & Replace: Yes
          Shipping & Handling: Covered

Since they don't ship to Australia, most of the shipping process won't be covered i think

        • @triviums: Warranty only covered in areas of sale by OPO, ie not Australia. Atleadt DWI will have ur back for 15 days return. I am aware of many ppl sending back to DWI due to yellow tinging, which isnt even covered by OPO.

        • +1

Actually DWI has you better covered than OPO, so pls know ur facts and font talk abt stuff without knowing anything.

        • @sn809: You are correct about the yellow tint being not covered, but wrong about the warranty not covering Australia (unless you mean they won't ship the phone back to Australia then yes you are correct). If a warranty issues arises what will have to happen is you ship it to them, once fixed they will send it back to any country they ship to and then you have to use a service such as shipitto to ship it back to Australia. Oneplus will fix the phone, just not mail it back to Australia…

Yes you are correct that DWI has better local support, but you can still get Oneplus to fix your phone if you buy the Global version, it will just cost you money. Yes I have done my research, I know at least one person that got their phone fixed by Oneplus…

        • -1

@triviums: How can you be on Ozbargain? You want us to buy the phone from usa- which is more expensive btw, then if something is wrong you want us to pay to ship it back to USA after which OPO take their sweet time -takes them quite a bit of time to repair actually, then pay for it again tobe sent out here from USA? Why not just get from DWI? If they have actual stock that is!

        • +1

          @sn809:
I have never said "Hey everyone, don't buy the Chinese version, buy the global version, it's soooo much better…".
All I have done is fixed a misconception about buying the global version that norkle said previously:

you have absolutely no warranty or service support

Which is wrong, it will just be a huge hassle.

For most Australians buying the chinese version from a reputable seller is enough, but for others who plan to travel the global version has more advantages and is cheaper than buying the chinese version and a secondary device when traveling. I think that's how a ozbargainer thinks, since the whole concept of being a ozbargainer is to save as much money as possible. Mmmm should I buy One device for $500 or Two devices for $1000???

I already have a Oneplus One, I was trying to buy a 2nd Oneplus One Global version as a present for a friend who lives in the USA. For me, the global version overall is cheaper and more convenient.

I had to point out norkle's misconception since there may be other ozbargainers who are in a similar position to me, where having the global version overall is cheaper. Norkle's comment was basically saying to all those people in a similar position to me, that if you buy the Oneplus One Global version and you live in Australia you will have NO chance of getting your phone fixed by oneplus. In otherwords, buy 2 phones instead of 1, that way both phone will be covered by warranty…
I don't know about you, but I don't think any ozbargainer would buy 2 phones if they could buy 1….

        • @triviums: Fair call, I did say 'absolutely no' which isn't true. oB won't let me update my original post, please accept my apologies for speaking in absolutes.

  • +2

Anyone buying a OnePlus One needs to be aware that in Australia you cannot get any manufacturer support and you're relying on who you buy it from for any warranty or service support. I'm also tempted to neg this as no deal (but won't), as the price has been hovering around the A$480-500 mark from eglobal or DWI for a while now, ie. don't rush in because this is a 'bargain'.

    • very true. be weary.
i got a small chip on the side of my screen, could have lived with it, but the whole middle section no longer registers touch anymore, and theres no real viable options for screen replacement here in aus, so now i have to get a new phone.
also, i purchased the 64gb for $380aud so $485aud isnt very attractive

      • Pls also quote the exchange rate at the time because that is the main reason phone is more expensive now.

  • I was about to buy this since it says cynanogenmod version, but it's not… it's the chinese version flashed with cynanogenmod. Guess I'm going to have to buy it from Oneplus or wait until Oneplus 2 comes out…

    • Goto Whirlpool and read the phone wiki. in Australia it doesnt make a difference weather its chinese flashed or otherwise, only in USA can u note a difference in frequency resulting in an issue with reception. Its better to get from DWI as that has bettrr and local support. If anyone wants a screen changed, contact the DWI service centre as they may be able to help u.

  • This should be under $400 now it's like a year old!

    • +1

It has been that low before, see above. It's just that importing anything right now costs a lot due to the exchange rates.

    • The price is where it should be since Oneplus does not make any profits off the sales of the phone, where as phones such as the iphone cost apple around $300usd to make and then they sell it for a lot more. After a year the price will drop since they don't intend to make so much profit off it.

      • +1

Even less mate. 128GB iPhone 6 Plus = 76.7 per cent profit margain or a 329 per cent mark-up!
        http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/mobiles/apples-iphone-6-p…

        • Is labour factored into that as well?

        • +5

Since this is still going on. Labour shouldn't cost too much per phone…

        • +2

          @Orpheus:

yes at 3 cents an hour the Chinese get. thats why they are jumping off the roof at Foxconn

        • @Orpheus: Yep $US4 to $US4.50 labour cost per phone

      • -1

Maybe they should stop shipping truck loads to resellers that sell the phone at a way higher margin of profit than they are.

  • Isn't always this price, if not lower from this store?
