  • Can I double check?
I will get a new simcard but the phone number and the plan that I have still the same, am I right?
note: my plane is $0 per month.

    • Phone number and plan wont change if you request a this new SIM, it's just a SIM replacement.
As long as you are on a post paid mobile plan then you are ok. Provided you have a compatible phone.

      • thanks

      what's a $0 per month plan?

      • I only pay for what i use. This is an old plan.
If I use only 30 seconds then I only pay 6.5c I think. No connection fee.

        • Is that for the internet or phone calls ? i have a plan that cost $10/month, $0 sound like a good deal

  • I don't pay by cash

  • I registered for the last promo, but never used it as my Android was not compatible. Will it work again, this time?

    • Seems like they have increased the number of supported devices to 100+ and now also have nano SIM cards

Probably. Maybe you can find a link to the list.

First time registration only, so if you have already got $15 from last promo then it wont work again.

This may disqualify you though. It's worth a try though!

Tried this previously, if you have cyanogen mod or probably any other custom rom, it won't work.

But I already save more than $15 every month by not being an Optus customer slave.

  • No Nexus 4 or 5? What?

This was just rendered redundant by commonwealth enabling NFC payments for all android 4.4 devices with NFC.

    • CBA solution was supported on very few devices from Samsung. Optus solutions supports 100+ devices.

Optus product works even when the phone is off or when battery is completely flat (of course users can chose to turn this functionality off).

Also, Optus product works like a pre-paid visa card where CBA solution allowed me to use my standard credit card (this was good)

PS: I used both CBA and Optus solutions

As of yesterday, the CBA solution is available for any android device with 4.4 and NFC, like I stated on my previous post.

You don't have to be on Optus postpaid for it to work.

EDIT: I just checked the device list of Optus. It's around 30 or something, missing loads of flagship devices and with plenty of random LG phones.

    • Can you confirm this is ALL Android 4.4 devices with NFC, or just a compatible list?
I'll get a Comm Bank account if I can use my Oneplus One!

      • It works on my Nexus 5. It should work on OnePlus One AFAIK. Good luck!

        • How? It doesn't work on my Nexus 5! (it's somewhat unlocked though)

        • @anthonettex: My Nexus 5 is rooted and on a custom rom. IIRC it's a delayed rollout with 20% getting it now.

Speaking of Optus - Was looking to buy an iphone 6 online and ended up speaking to the chat rep
They gave me a promo code "getoptus50".
I added a 16gb gold iphone 6 to cart, applied the code in the cart and bam $50 credit.
Not sure if this applies to other colours/memory/handsets etc

Never posted a deal before so cant be bothered to submit - feel free to pass on bargainers!

    is amaysim valid?

    • Nope

  • Can you keep using your old SIM incase you don't want to activate the Cash one? I saw the free $15 and applied but have since decided to go with a CBA account instead for native Host Card Emulation. ANZ has taken enough of my money in fees.

    • You have to activate the new SIM and register for the Cash by Optus via the app to get free $15, if you then for what ever reason want to use CBA HCE then you can change settings to use CBA (via NFC Settings on your phone). You can have two NFC solutions on your phone but only one will be active at any given time. Hope this helps

Only draw back with HCE solution is that phone needs to have some juice in it to pay.

That's like having the cake and eating it :)

        Thanks for the explanation.

  • Will this filter down to Optus MVNOs?

    • Nope, has to be Optus post paid

  • Wow just got an email from Optus saying I'm not eligible:

We'd love to be able to give you one of our new Cash by Optus™ SIMs, but unfortunately, before we can you'll need to:

•have a compatible Android phone from our list here
•be an Optus customer with an Optus monthly mobile plan.

I certainly do meet the criteria…. must be a cockup in their system and I'm not showing up as a customer :/
