Sydney > Perth $90, Perth > Sydney $90 @ Tigerair (Jetstar $81 Price Beat)

Oh what a bargain! When's the last time you saw airfares to Perth from Sydney (and vice versa) at these prices? The beauty here is that Tigerair & Jetstar both have flights within an hour of each other ex Sydney so price beat is definitely on the cards. Happy travels :)

Valid for travel 21/07/15 to 14/09/15.

Here are the screenshots: Tigerair & Jetstar.

Now if we can just coordinate everyone to book via the JQ pricebeat, these fares will be available much longer :)

  • If this was to NZ it would be a deal. This is even more of a deal considering Perth is further than NZ.

    Now cue Tiger hate comments.

    • If this was to the Maldives it would be a deal.

      • What do you mean?

My point is that the price per km is wayyyy better than those $125 NZ flights. Therefore this is a very good deal.

It is a fact that Perth is further from Sydney than NZ.

If flights to the Maldives were less than the cheapest flights to Bali then of course it would be a deal.

Not to disagree with either of you but keep in mind that a one way SYD-PER flight includes $15.23* of compulsory government/airport imposed taxes compared to $101.72 for a SYD-AKL flight.

*Excluding GST which is dependant on the price of the base fare.

How do you get jetstar to price match?

    • +1

There's a link in the post.

    • +5

It's a price beat, different to a price match.

    Ansett?

Nah back in the 'good old days' the duopoly charged $800 return to get to Perth, at Xmas anyway.

A fair bit within the city and even more just beyond it.

Its currently the weather for our beaches so swimming, fishing, boating is all on the cards. Keep an eye out for the Great Whites.

Swan River offers fun either on it, or around it, Kings Park isn't too far away either

Nightlife is getting better around the CBD area with bars and restuarants around, Burswood casino is nearby as well - as previously mentioned by tight arse, theres a footy game to watch if you are that way inclined.

If you have the ability and time to get out of the CBD, 30 - 40 mins drive from the CBD is the Swan Valley, home of several breweries, more wineries, a few distilleries, supagolf, paintball and laser tag.

Even further away 2.5 hours drive is the South West Region - Margaret River - a place i try to make my way to at least twice a year, busselton, yallingup, dunsborough and a few other places. The south west region is a mecca of amazing WA produce, there's a million and one wineries that all offer free tastings, especially if you take up one of the wine tours through the region are good fun. There's a multitude of breweries, cheese factories, chocolate, candy and honeycomb makers and so on. The Settlers Tavern in Marg River is a great place to catch a band

Thats about all i can type up whilst at work - soz for the grammar, if anyone wants more info, feel free to pm me

      • We really enjoyed Margaret River area on our last trip. 1st week we stayed at Bussleton, 2nd week at THe Vines, Swan Valley.

The only thing was the drive down to Bussleton just after landing at Perth airport…quite a trek!

Margaret River chocolate is far too nice (free tasting there folks) http://www.chocolatefactory.com.au/
Cowaramup is "amusing", as is Gnomesville.

This time, we'll be staying at Mandurah and Dunsborough.

        • There's also free chocolate tasting at the Margaret river chocolate factory shop in the Perth CBD

        • @cvas: True (we went there as well) but can't go back for 2nds, 3rd…… :p

Great deal - good find TA!

  • Only midnight horror flights? Or has someone found decent flight times?

    • Did you see my screenshots in the post?

      • Yeah TA. But I'm coming from Perth. Is ok I'll have a look when I get a chance.

        • Apologies Giggidy, wasn't aware you're in Perth. Seems all Tigerair flights out of Perth to Sydney (irrespective of price) are post-midnight departures.

@tightarse: no dramas mate. Appreciate he post and reply.

Ive never been to Perth as it's always cheaper to go overseas. Might visit Perth!

  • Terrible timings on this route. Take into account the cost of an unnecessary night at a hotel for the night you get there.

    • Not if you're staying with relos/friends :)

    • We did a campervan trip a couple of years ago, was there in airport car park waiting for us when we arrived at midnight so we ended up sleeping in it in airport carpark and then taking off down south next morning.

Brisbane to Sydney is a steal for $30. $30 back too.

    • I went for the Brisbane flights too - but now that price is gone!

In the 20 minutes it took me to book a hotel, the flights have doubled in price

      • Were you trying to book mid-week?

Travel between Brisbane and Sydney on Tuesday to Thursday only

      • Still some $30 flights in early august at least.

  • +2

Tiger had a $175 2 for 1 deal a couple of months ago for perth-syd but I missed out on getting time off in their travel dates. Good find :)

Jestar wont price beat the return from Perth to Sydney as it is 5 mins outside of their 1 hr fare rule. They prob set the time on purpose so that they can refuse the price beat. :(

Jestar Departs 23:55 where as Tigerair departs 01:00

    • Funny that im having issues with the price beat at the moment trying to get a flight to Sydney to match up under the hour. Im trying to go end of July though.

    • lol, the chat lady said no ? i would have made her feel bad :D

Tightarse, you scored me a holiday…many, many thanks. Jetstar beat Tiger's price going from Sydney(81.00 and no booking fees) but doesn't have a comparable flight (i.e. after-midnight direct)on the way back, so we settled for e Tiger flight for $90.00. The two of us scored a week in Perth in spring for a grand total of $342.00. We even got a cheap first night's accommodation by booking with HotelPronto, which occasionally has prices that undercut the sites that advertise all the time on TV (in this case, $103 when everyone else said $132). We'll drink to your health when we land safely!

Melb <-> Perth is $119 one way.

  • I booked return tickets with my wife from Perth to Sydney during a Tiger promotion a few months back. We paid "full price" 1 way from Perth and then $1 for the return flight. Flight is for late August.

$186 return each. Wish I had waited now.

Oh well, too late now :)

  • i'm confused by title. Which way is it?
Is Sydney better than Perth or Perth better than Sydney??

  • Cheap.. Taxi to the airport would probably cost nearly as much as the flight :/ (speaking for Perth here)

    • Not to the city mate. If you are a tourist visiting beautiful Perth you're more likely up for a $30-40 taxi trip to the CBD at most, especially from the domestic terminal.

      • So $40 from the airport, $40 back to the airport to leave. Almost price of one-way flight!

        • Yep. There are plans to put in rail to the airport, but it's still being debated and since the iron ore price has tumbled the state is running on broken promises and going into debt.

There are public buses from the domestic terminal to the city, so that's another option. You can pay cash and it would be only $3-4 at most.

support tiger they are the airline that the ones that annoubnced the cheap fares not Jetstar. This was not an initiative by jetstar they are just hanging off the back of tiger if we support tiger then they will continue with cheap fares

  • serious question: whats there to do in perth?

    • Check out Whirlpool forums and even OzBargain forums.

Plenty to do here, if you've never been it's definitely worth the experience. It's very different to the east coast, for example our beaches and way of life are amazing and laid-back. We have plenty of tourist spots here, even though we aren't a major tourist hub for Australian's, we are for many South East Asians who can fly here much faster than going to Sydney or Melbourne.

Do some research, check out Whirlpool and other sites. Guaranteed you'll have a nice time in Perth, just bring your wallet. Make sure it's full, everything is a bit more expensive here, but not that much compared to eastern Australia.
