  • mcafee == bloatware.. used to be a great product but not anymore!

    Check out either Kaspersky
Or FREE: Comodo Personal Firewall and AV or Microsoft Security Essentials or Cloud Antivirus

  • Is this only for 'windows on mac' (ie apple mac's?) - can't tell.

    • yes, only for windows on mac through vmware

      • See my comment below - looks to be the standard Windows product.

  • Mcafee is great, been using it for past few months and don't feel it's bloatware at all

  • excellent freebie! my mcafee 3 month trial with lenovo x200 just expired!

  • Yeah, the PC-on-Mac part should really be in the title.

  • May I suggest again that these new offers be linked to other relevant current offers.
eg I spent some time reading up on a squared offer.
it got the best rankings consistently.
That way people can know which one is best to follow up on.
would be useful to at least have a category view for similar items linked via tags?
if too much trouble I understand.
    just a thought.
    I like ozbargain.

    • Might work if those posting the deals put antivirus as a tag (I didn't)

  • Funnily enough the download doesn't work with Safari! (use Firefox)

I just got it. It's just the standard Windows version of VirusScan so it's not Mac only.

Not their full suite, third 'best'. Just doesn't have extra guff.

I generally buy Kaspersky for my clients that want a commercial suite. It seems to have consistently good ratings and is quite comprehensive. Last one I got was $24 off ebay.

McAfee is ok if you have a fairly recent computer (it will slow older ones too much). I would install another product as well (one that doesn't run all the time in the background).

Norton Internet Security is ok too now (not as bloated as it used to be) if you find it on special (often offered with other things).

I've tried lots (Kaspersky, AVG Pro, Panda, asquared, Norton, McAfee, ZoneAlarm, BullGuard, Trend, Spyware Doctor (with antivirus) - in order of recommendation) and that's just the anti virus/spyware suites.

Recommended free anti malware add ons (install as well as the main suite):

    MalwareBytes
    asquared Free
    SuperAntiSpyware

    • it conflicted with avira so i did not go with the install.
read the a squared reviews and decided to go with them.
they seem the best, consistently and only avira matched them.
will uninstall avira if I have to.
      thank you for this post.
took me a long time reading through the tests and comparatibve reviews on their site.
      much better than individual recommendations.

      • Yes, you can't (shouldn't) have more than one 'active' (that is - running all the time as a background program) anti virus/spyware suite.
