most people in melbourne probably know about these types of events, generally all the stores have some sort of sale but it's not the ultimate sale ozbargainers crave. personally I am looking forward to the Windor Smith shoes 30% off they always had and hopefully will have again. no need to bash if you dont like the info give it a negative and vice versa

However, you can try JB Hifi during these events, they never get listed as a promotional store, however they usually give larger haggle discounts if you ask them. Got a tablet 1yr ago, no JB hifi in Melb CBD dared to go under $300 but when got it for $270 at the VIP Night and they even threw in a anti-virus card which is worth $20.
Which as the ozbargainer I am, I took the anti-virus card and refunded it at Melb CBD since it listed on the receipt as $20 on a separate line item. Making the final price $250.
toys r us are pretty decent with 20% off store wide.
I'm just there for the free drinks & cupcakes usually. :P Oh and shoes, Ecco normally has a deal.

You have to get creative to get the best 'deals'.
Usually there will be one or 2 stores giving out free alcohol (in the form of probably crap champagne.)
